I would agree with that.

Things here are not good. Long term things look quite grim.

Things like this "3D printer" firearm are very stupid- I agree 100%.

But with the Constitution, you cannot begin slowly changing and doing away the Bill of Rights for the concern of "safety" or we will have no rights left. I have personally seen Gun Violence- I personally know that there will be idiots out there who will shot someone for their shoes (and with a plastic firearm the 'printed' they can just melt it down-)

I do NOT think this is a 2nd Amendment issue (to be clear)-
And yeah, the whole World is in trouble. =(

The files were taken down by the designer himself, after a request from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The files have not been "scrubbed" from the internet and are available in multiple other places.

It's impossible to completely wipe something off the internet. Once people have something, they will store it, and if it ever gets deleted and becomes hard to find, all it takes is one of those people to re-upload it and it will spread like herpes in a Cambodian brothel.

If it were possible to completely scrub something from the internet 100% then child porn wouldn't exist.

Seems to me the only reason there would be a concerted effort to teach the masses something like that is so that they will more meekly accept the yoke of slavery...

Also consider that in the business world it is UNIVERSALLY accepted that monopolies NEVER benefit the end user!

In the instance of governments and the ability to procure and use weapons this is even more true than being forced to buy your electricity from a single supplier that can charge what they want...

Any government that tries to secure a MONOPOLY on deadly force and the instruments capable of unleashing such force... especially when they at the same time attempt to secure a monopoly on violence of any sort at the same time is a government that has already begun the slide to abject tyranny!

The reality is WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT weapons do have a place in society and it's a damn important place! Much too important to entrust completely to a government that can't even deliver our mail without losing 50 billion dollars a year in the process!

The sole point of my post was in fact to show my distain and complete bewilderment over the obsession many Americans have with the gun.

I agree with you that a 3D printer is no 'magic box' and that economies of scale would suggest better manufacturing processes for Water well parts or medical devices but my point is this.......
Why oh why the fixation with destruction and killing devices...... New technologies and those who use them should have a social conscious to improve society and ultimately humanity......... Sadly as demonstrated, most are wrapped up in a world of self publicity and greed mentalities.

PS - I'm NOT anti gun but I am becoming fast Anti the American way which in most situations has nothing to do with freedom unless it is freedom 'American' style.......
