Is this anything out of the ordinary? Other sites are discussing this and speculating that something is moving in close to us.

I am talking about the bright section at the bottom left corner of the picture.

I will also say, that someone posted somewhere else today that they saw a few second story on bbc news today that a "dark comet" was approaching us within 2 weeks. They said the story was cut off and now is scrubbed.

Could be all boloney, just sharing for interesting coversation.

Edit to add; I've got to run, so hopefully you all will carry on here.

That story came from GLP and it stated there was a 10 second broadcast on the BBC indicating a "dark comet" and then just cut off. Not buying it but interesting none the less.

They may have been referring to comet Ison coming our way soon. It's being speculated as a big show as it passes through the solar system later on this year. This is the independant story from Dec 2012,

Maybe it has to do with the Super Nova we are supposed to be able to witness....it spit a dark comet our way.

Eh! I can't make any sense out of that.

That's because it doesn't make any sense.

Please explain how a supernova 3.6 billion light-years away could spit a 'dark comet' our way. I'm expecting a full run through of the new branch of physics you've invented to make this possible.

I know, I actually put a link on the story Croe has linked, and that one is about gamma ray bursts from a possible Milky Way type galaxy nearly 1.2 to 2.0 Billion light years away for feck sake. They expect a supernova shortly, (a visual or signs of that is) but then ol' Betelgeuse is still shining, and it's been exploding tomorrow for years. and it's even much much closer

Just to edit, I see your last post and your'e right it's even further away

If you can't understand typed sarcasm then my post is lost on you.....no, I don't really think a dark comet is coming from a supernova. I tend to poke fun of posts like the OP when invisible objects are brought up. Guess I should have put a
or a
after my first post and my reply as it takes some a bit longer to pick up on these things.

I am talking about the bright section at the bottom left corner of the picture.

It's a star cluster. Can't tell you which one. No time to work on it.
Here's what the milky way looks like when it enters the field of view.
