WASHINGTON – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) today announced that the Committee will convene for a hearing, “Benghazi: Exposing Failure and Recognizing Courage,” on Wednesday, May 8 at 11:30 AM in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.

“This Administration has offered the American people only a carefully selected and sanitized version of events from before, during, and after the Benghazi terrorist attacks” said Chairman Issa. “Not surprisingly, this version of events casts senior officials in the most favorable light possible.”

“Last October, the Oversight Committee exposed State Department denials of security requests made by our diplomats in Libya and forced the Obama Administration to concede that there never was a protest of a YouTube video. Next week’s hearing will expose new facts and details that the Obama Administration has tried to suppress.”

Hearing Details:

Wednesday, May 8, 2013
“Benghazi: Exposing Failure and Recognizing Courage”
Full Committee, Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA)
11:30 a.m. in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building and streaming live at oversight.house.gov.

Its totally impeachable for a President to abandon the troops, Seals, and the personel, the Ambassador, that serve America overseas. Ambassador Stephens was involved in other actions such as gun running to Islamic Radicals, another cover up. This government has sent aid, arms, and monies to enemies of the US and pretended it was about Democracy and aiding the rebels, when the rebels are the factions that are committing Jihad against the United States and even worse against Israel. Some of us see a clear path here of what has actually happened, those of us who are high information people, and don't listen to the lies of the Main stream Media. Those Seals gave up their lives, expecting some sort of air cover, back up, or distraction. There could have been jets scrambled above to target the terrorists flying through, creating noise, and taking out their targets to allow the seals a pathway out of the compound. Don't tell us nothing could have been done!

Should be interesting
The witnesses include State Department career worker Gregory Hicks, who already has provided sworn testimony that American resources were told to “stand down” that day while four Americans died.
That statement would directly conflict with multiple statements by the Obama administration.
Rep. Darrell Issa, D-Calif., pointed out that the Obama administration specifically denied that anyone was told to stand down.
The Washington Post also reported that U.S. Embassy officials in Tripoli, some 600 miles away, tried unsuccessfully to get the Pentagon to scramble fighter jets in a show of force. The embassy also was unable to get permission to deploy four U.S. Special Operations troops in Benghazi during the attack.
Congressional investigators released a partial transcript of Hicks’ coming testimony. It includes his report that the lieutenant colonel in Tripoli who commanded the Special Operations team told him he was sorry that his men had been held back.

Two of the whistle-blowers' opening statements were obtained by Fox News, and in the statements they defend their credibility in testifying about what happened last Sept. 11 in Libya.

"I am a career public servant," Greg Hicks' statement reads. "Until the aftermath of Benghazi, I loved every day of my job." He was deputy chief of mission in Libya and became top U.S. diplomat in the country after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed in the terror attack.

The other statement, by Mark Thompson of the State Department Counterterrorism Bureau, is mostly biographical. Testimony also is due Wednesday from Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer who was formerly the regional security officer in Libya.

The administration has parried Republican allegations lately by arguing that the attack is old news, that the State Department already has investigated it and that Republicans are engaged in a political witch hunt.

But a series of carefully timed leaks on the whistle-blowers' testimony indicates House Republicans could have the goods to at least merit a second look at the administration narrative.

"The question is, where's the accountability for lying to the American people?" Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told Fox News. "The American people were lied to."

Issa claimed one "cover-up" is "undeniable"

high information people?
ok, the seals there that you speak of, did they know there was going to be an assault on the compound?
where would this "air cover" come from?....was there a air base nearby?....were there constant aircraft surveillance fighter jets within the Benghazi area that could physically get there within minutes of the attack? wasn't the other compound nearby, which was even more heavily guarded, with loss of american life, hit as well?
didn't the ambassador disobey a request to stay in Tripoli, where there was a heavily fortified embassy? isn't he responsible for putting these personal protection detail people in harms way, if he refused to stay in Tripoli as told to by leaders in the state department?
are there people gullible enough NOT TO SEE this is a pre-emptive strike on Hilary Clinton's 2016 presidential bid?

Nothing will come of this. Some people will be shown to have abandoned US citizens but come voting time, no one will care.

It amazes me how this thread is so dead, this is a huge deal, and the implications behind not just what happed but why it was covered up and whats going on behind the scenes is astounding, and the fact that people are treating it like its old hat and doesnt matter, is indicative of why this nation is in the shape that its in...

If you have the time you should be listening and watching this hearing.....

Did former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lie under oath when she testified in the January Benghazi hearings that no one within the government ever recommended the closure of the U.S. facilities in the Libyan city?
In her Jan. 23 testimony, Clinton stated: “Well, senator, I want to make clear that no one in the State Department, the intelligence community, any other agency, ever recommended that we close Benghazi. We were clear-eyed about the threats and the dangers as they were developing in eastern Libya and in Benghazi.
Cover up?

The FAST Team wasn't deployed because the area was 'unsafe' for them to deploy. WTF???
Isn't that the team's JOB, to go into an unsafe area and assist???

Middle Eastern security officials said U.S.-aided weapons shipments go back more than a year, escalating before the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. facilities in Benghazi.
In fact, the Middle Eastern security officials describe the U.S. mission in Benghazi and nearby CIA annex attacked last September as an intelligence and planning center for U.S. aid to the rebels in the Middle East. The aid, the sources stated, included weapons shipments and was being coordinated with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
