Didn't Linus Pauling and others attribute the same clearing effect on arteries with relatively high doses of vit-C and the amino acid Lysine?

Lotsa people talking about the extract. What would be wrong with just eating them? And talking about hat, I have never had one so how do you eat em? No, not open mouth and put it in type stuff, What part do you eat, what part do you leave? Grind em up? Crush em up? And how many?
Cheers and thanks for a post that's not doom and gloom

You simply cut the fruit into quarters, same as with an orange and then eat the red pulp and seeds(Not the yellow stuff). Very sticky but satisfying! LoL

Hi, thank you for posting this great information. This fruit is a bit difficult to find here. I don't know if anyone knows if I purchase the juice form that is packed in bottles or tin would be as good as the fresh one? Can you plant this in a pot or something?

I think the fruit is grown predominantly in middle eastern countries. Where do you hail from that you cant pick these up in your local supermarket? Here in the UK they cost around £3 for 4 fruit in the local ASDA.

Pomegranates are drought-tolerant, and can be grown in dry areas with either a Mediterranean winter rainfall climate or in summer rainfall climates, hope that helps.

Careful...there are some on here that would read the headline, grab a knife, slash open their arteries and rub pomengranates into the artery walls and then come back complaining it doesn't work... well those that lived would.

But yes, I've heard this and actually the juice is really nice too.

Pomegranates juice is great. I do buy it every once in a while because unfortunately where I live is like 10 $ for a bottle of 1L. So is kinda hard to afford it all the time but for almost 6 months straight I did take it regularly, a cup a day. And believe me, the effects are amazing. Not only the blood circulation is great but remember also that pomegranate is a very good anti oxidant. One of the most surprising side effects for guys is a significant increase in libido, something like a natural viagra. Lmao !!!

Onion tea is delicious. Try it. Boil some in water for 5 min. Drinking this can lower blood sugar, so it's a boon to diabetics. Its effect is similar to that from Glibenclamide, an antidiabetic drug belonging to the sulphonylurea group. But are you saying that its effect is similar to that obtained from drinking pomegranate juice?

Yes, the fruit is most popular in the Middle eastern countries. Iran and Turkey produce it in concentrated form like molasses. In fact, it is sometimes labeled 'Pomegranate Molasses' - I get it here in Malaysia (Iranian import), in ketchup size bottles.

You can get it in ethnic markets - imported from middle eastern countries like Iran, Turkey. It is better to get the concentrated form = Pomegranate molasses. This is extremely versatile. I add a tblspoon of it to my salad, to my plain yogurt to zest it up. You can also swallow a tblspoon of it straight
or make a cordial out of it. The sweet-tart taste is wonderful. People from the middle east believe this is the actual "apple" described in the Biblical garden of Eden. Modern research has shown that it is excellent for cardiac health and you can buy it in the form of capsules/tab at iherb.com if you find the juice/molasses hard to find. It is so nutritionally dense that it is called a "biopharmacy" in traditional Indian medicine. Here are the headlines of a report that I read not long ago:

Pomegranate Juice Helps Kidney Patients
Researchers in Israel report that there could be some truth to some of the many health claims for pomegranate juice, at least for kidney patients on dialysis....

They found that such patients who drank a few cups of the tart liquid every week lowered their chances of infections, the second-leading killer of the more than 350,000 Americans on dialysis.

I've never understood how you eat a pomegranate, it seems like you peel of the skin + the only thing inside is seeds

Cool find though, I might have to get myself some pomegranate juice next time I go shopping!! S+F

Mate you don't peel a Pomegranate, you quarter it and eat it same as an Orange. Using the skin as a kind of a container.

I imagine peeling said fruit would result in an even stickier mess than the method above, and you would lose all the juice.

If pomegranate cleans your arteries so well, how come Egyptians, a country where pomegranates are a staple in their diet, ranks 7th among 56 countries for the highest incidence of athrosclerosis?

www.nationmaster.com...

Is it possible, just maybe, but still possible that someone wants to boost pomegranate sales and funded a few studies to achieve the desired result?

Actually, I don't care about the studies. Studies are just small samples of a whole population. Studies involving hamsters are even further removed from anything actually meaningful.

I am going to rely on facts. Fact - Egyptians have high rates of athrosclerosis.
Fact - Egyptians eat a lot of pomegranates
Conclusion: Eating pomegranates DOES NOT clean arteries as well as the studies say they do.

Further conclusions: some people believe everything they read as it follows the word "study".

And more bad news about the myths of pomegranates

www.webmd.com...

Pomegranate is used for many conditions, but so far, there isn’t enough scientific evidence to rate pomegranate as effective for any of them. We do know, though, that pomegranate does not seem to be effective for reducing the symptoms of chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) or improving breathing in people with this con

Listen folks - I am very confident that pomegranates are a good source of phytoneutients and anti-oxidants. I am also confident that eating them is tasty, fun and good for you - but it is absolutely counterproductive to believe that any one food is a magical cure for anything.
