I forgot to mention Nellis held JFEX on Friday (5/31/2013). It was not announced on the Nellis operations page.

I set up flightradar 24 for that day and ran it in "fast forward". No cargo planes showed up. As a reminder, USAF cargo planes (basically "heavies") have mode-s at the very least and probably ADS-B since the EU requires it. So there was a possibility one would show up on flight aware, if perhaps they left the ADS-B on by accident. But no such luck.

Note that JFEX is what replaced MAFEX. They have incorporated the Army into the exercise, hence now it is a "joint" exercise. But you can look up MAFEX on the internet to see prior exercises.

This is a MAFEX shot in Nov 2010.

Often they drop items shown at the Nellis Aviation Nation.

I see the live-military-mode-s.eu page caught the ADS-B tracking of a few C-17s. I'm not sure if you need to be a member to see this tracking, but here are some links:

C-17 94-0069

C-17 07-7171

C-17 07-7180

The C-17s used the THUG callsign. C-130s used HAZARD.
