Because we have a bunch of daytime believers......

First, BIN is a tabloid and frankly makes up a lot of the news on the page.
Yes BIN is a terrible source, I completely agree.

ESET Virus Radar has recognized the virus, and calls it Win32/MoliVampire.

Win32 is the API for the old versions of Windows...

Let me translate the headlines into standard English:
OMG!!!! RUN!!!!! THE GOVERNMENT HAS A MEGA-UNDETECTABLE VIRUS THAT WILL GRAB YOUR WINDOWS 95 SYSTEM/WINDOWS NT AND DOWNLOAD EVIL FILES!!!!
I usually agree with you but I think you missed the boat on this one.

Here is a link to their instructions for removing some win32 malware from windows 8 systems so in this particular context, win32 appears to mean something different than you think:

kb.eset.com...

Your ESET product detects the threat Win32/Goblin, Win32/Goblin.C.Gen or Win32/Goblin.e.gen.

Solution

Click the link below to download the ESETGoblinCleaner tool. Save the file to your Desktop:

ESETGoblinCleaner.exe

Click Start All Programs Accessories Command Prompt.

Windows 8 users: Press Windows key + F to search, click Apps, enter Command Prompt into the search bar and then click Command Prompt.
So why are they giving instructions to windows 8 users about this win32 malware if it has no effect on windows 8? I know this isn't the vampire version but I didn't see removal instructions for that one in a quick search and they both start with win32.

i wonder how many years they have been doing this? it could explain why i found some nasty stuff on an old computer, yet when i would find and erase the files they would re appear later.
not sure which p2p i was using at that time tho i think limewire may have been one of them.

Don't go running to the bunker just yet! As some have already mentioned, "Before It is News," is the online equivalent of tabloids! Now don't get me wrong, because a person's security online should be paramount. Now, if this shoddy article raises concern among some about beefing up their anti-virus measures, firewall, and other computer protections? Great! If it raises awareness about what sites to go to and what sites not too? Even better! The internet is no playground, and it has the same scumbags, crooks, and criminals we deal with on the outside. Be careful, and tread lightly.

Furthermore, don't take what is being reported on "Before It is News," as gospel, because it is not. Might as well read the Onion or watch the Daily Show! As for the entrapment issues that have arose in this thread and elsewhere? There have been cases reported in the news of instances involving federal, state, and local authorities that had the veiled appearance of entrapment. Issues involving terrorism suspects, online activities, and some other areas. All I can say is, people should start waking up, and learning their rights provided by the Constitution. When injustices occur, and they tend too from time to time. It is every citizens' solemn duty to bring those injustices to the forefront, raise awareness, and demand recourse. Even when it involves people you have nothing in common with, or you just absolutely loathe. We have rights, and have to follow the law. Law enforcement and the government have to respect those rights, and follow the law all the same. There is no distinction! No one person, entity, or organization is above those laws. That is all I can say about this.

Apologies if this has been dealt with but has it actually been proven that it is the government that is responsible for this virus?

Is it known what department of the government is doing this, if it is the government? As a government operation it seems to lack the sort of focus I would expect from attempts at the entrapment of specific people.

Having asked those questions, I do believe that there is more porn on the internet than one would expect to find there. Personally, considering the importance of sex, the pleasure of sex and human desire, I would expect to find absolutely gigantic amounts of porn on the net, but what do we find? We find ten times that much.

That to me is suspicious. There are too many porn websites. There are too many man centuries of labor on display in the porn category for it just to be an example of business enterprise. There is also too much trickery involved in those websites. Too much seeding of links to representations of people who appear to be underage. Links and representations which are unsought and which arrive gratuitously on one's hard drive, unbidden.

Why?

I don't think it has been proven that the virus even exists. The report wasn't from any computer security agency, or from any anti-virus company, it was from a "news" website that is known to make misleading and completely fake articles.

Win32 is actually the 32bit API... It comes with 32bit OSs, so Windows 95 to Windows 8.

Win32 was not included in Windows 3.1, which was a 16bit OS. You could, however, get Win32s for the OS, to get some 32bit operation, but it was still not Win32.

Pretty sure Win32 is also included in all 64bit Operating Systems, to allow 32bit programs to work. Even if it isn't, 32bit systems are not obsolete, many people still run Windows XP, and very few have a 64bit XP...

Thanks , so I think they are using both curiosity and arrogance of human beings.

When children are said to leave something , they get more curious

and when they are forced not to open a box , they get angry and want to open it someway.

BTW , I think that there are still some ways to get American citizens to get suspicious and eager for something.

Of course watching child porn is going to have destructive effects on heart and soul of people , but I hope there is less evil coming out of this even.

peace.

This is Just Now being reported?

I have been removing the FBI Virus from Company Computers and Personal computers for about 5-6 months now.

It is a nasty little thing. It displays the FBI seal and says that you have been looking at child porn. It says that if you goto a western union terminal and wire the $200-$250 then input the transaction code they will release your computer.

Funny enough there was one individual who paid the $250, input the transaction code, and then NOTHING. He still had the Virus. .. LOL.

I am sorry I can't help but to laugh.

This virus is mainly being implanted through Porn Websites.

It is nasty enough that it turns off your Anti-Virus Software and disables the key functions. Unfortunately Crtl-Alt-Del does Not work, and Safe Mode Does Not work

You actually have to pull the hard drive and jack it into another system to remove the pointers.

I have made allot of money from this one. I can honestly say that for this reason, I Love Porn.

P.S .. It is Not actually Downloading porn of any kind onto your computer.

The virus the article is talking about and the FBI Ransom Moneypak Virus that you are talking about are two entirely different things. The one you are talking about has nothing to do with the FBI, but the creators want you to think it does. It can be removed by using system restore and then running Superantispyware (free version) afterwards. My father (he's like 76 years old) caught it a few weeks back and was a wreck, thinking it was actually from the FBI. It shut down his whole computer.

Yeah, I was thinking someone must have replied to him already. I think he forgot to read the OP. That virus is well known (pretty sure for years), and was certainly not created by the FBI, nor does it download illegal files to your computer as you said. So completely unrelated.

Although I don't like you reccomending people use "Superantispyware (free version)". I mean sure, might be a good program, but in my opinion people should be educated about rogue anti-virus products. Better to reccomend some reputable major company, be it Microsoft itself, or Symantec, etc.

Ugh, no. Stick with the reputable free ones. "Reputable" ... "Microsoft" ...?

This is why I have my firewall set to report ANY connection to my PC, I confirm or deny ALL connections.

To many sites try and plant stuff and of course people who download unknown exe's and run them need a slap around the face. Even if I get an email claiming to be from a known contact which has a VBS, Java or exe I won't run it until I confirm the person sent it.

So it reports all connections from all ports? Thats a lot of confirm/deny messages. I don't think its too much offtopic to ask here how you set it up to do that? Some antivirus software?

We're talking about viruses on a Microsoft OS, so obviously Microsoft is a reputable source.

In my opinion MS and Apple OSs have backdoors and possibly even spyware and trojans on them, but if so, using any other virus-removal tool won't help.

True or not...what a brilliant idea! Of course, in an evil sort of way. Who would ever believe that someone with child porn on their computer was telling the truth when they say "I don't know how that got there". A simple virus that you can insert into anyone's computer that then downloads illegal files. That wouldn't even be difficult to create, especially for the government. Just...WOW!

The perverts pushing child porn would love us all to think it was planted but the facts remain that some of us can be setup by the likes of CIA/FBI agents gaining access to our computers.

Let any man who is accused of being a pervert be given a fair chance to clear his name which is not the case just now and the government will have to do a lot better at setting people up and remember it could be you that gets setup.

I often run a little custom program that deletes all the trash data left by windows all over my PC and it often deletes in the region of 15,000 files a weeks so good luck if you are looking for planted data on you're hardrive

This FBI-CYBERCRIMES virus I got was: (not the complete link) a video player (like for saving YouTube etc) called in part-VCLMediaplayerTrojan-Worm ....so if you see this app anywhere on your stuff....delete it asap.

It completely wiped out everything...I mean EVERYTHING of over 47,000 files and 12 years of files, photos, vids, books Ive written, copyrights I own etc.

It hit me so bad that it wiped out everythng down to a white screen and just the FBI-CYBER CRIMES-send us $300 or we'll have you arrested and then we'll turn your comptr back on (it wont, I didnt, and they werent going to). Scared the crap out fo me at 1st.

Since I work at one of the big-three automakers and volunteer for Police an Fire....I do know a few people and tricks. We tried using the SATA-USB plug to view the hard drive and my files from another OS-computer....but it was completely devasted by this thing. It didnt work at all.

Luckily for me, I had saved 90% of everything off of the computer, so I lost a little...but its all back now.

PS THIS THING IS STILL IN THERE EVEN WITH ALL NEW OS. The day I got it back, the MINUTE I turned it on....I had 9 intrusion attempts.

These guys got your IP address and even when you clean and back up and are again running-clean...they STILL got you and are trying.

Good luck all.....MS

The government is run by raving lunatics who want nothing other than control over the population. This comes as no surprise.

"This is why I have my firewall set to report ANY connection to my PC, I confirm or deny ALL connections. "

Hope you are using an hardware firewall because none of the firewall running on Windows can offer full protection and you would only know this if you look for leakage using such a hardware device.

I use open ports to dump all un invited traffic to an IP with no machine on the other end just so that i can see who is trying it on and I can assure you 100% that I also know of a way to fool any firewall that is so simple, it's un true but even with all my skills and because I use windows I fully admit that if the CIA/FBI wanted to view my drives then they could do so within seconds and the activity would not even show up using NETSTATS, Security logs or anything else.

Now if anyone thinks that microsoft was allowed to grow to the size it has without the approval of the CIA & Co then you need to study a lot harder, it's so obvious and since we also know that the CIA has been known to use every dirty trick in the book we must conclude that dumping porn on a PC is well within their means.

With testimony of individuals like you,who have seen for yourself that such diabolical things are being done to innocent folks, surely along with the testimonies of people who know the victims,it would go to reasonable doubt in a court case, would'nt it? If there had to be enough public awareness that the goverment does this,it may help innocent individuals in such cases?
