I disagree that the OP, or any other poster has given a logical reason as to WHY the big bad government would plant child porn on an innocent person's computer. At least not a sane reason devoid of craziness.

The logical reason is so they can get you for your views they don't like. So far they can't arrest people for non-PC views, so they use child abuse as an excuse. Scream child abuse and people allow all sorts of illegal behavior.

I followed a case a few years ago of a hoax rape accusation - the hoax was traced/related to a law enforcement group who monitored the internet for child porn. The MSM NEVER ran the story of how it was related to this agency. It was a total news black out. I don't it was their first hoax and I don't think it will be their last.

This is so they can discredit and arrest or incarcerate without trial, whomever they wish. Remember a vet that was killed by the police team, on the allegations of some porn on his computer, a while back. This is how they do it.

How about some proof. You ask folks to deny ignorance, but you embrace a story based on.. nothing. Your conjecture that because you think the government is capable of things like this, then they must be guilty, is ridiculous. Great justice system there.

It is nasty enough that it turns off your Anti-Virus Software and disables the key functions. Unfortunately Crtl-Alt-Del does Not work, and Safe Mode Does Not work

You actually have to pull the hard drive and jack it into another system to remove the pointers.

There are other ways to get rid of it. The easiest being just log in with another profile, and do a system restore. And that's not the FBI, that's just a scam. Ransomeware is becoming more popular - and frankly, it's one of the scarier versions out there. So many people fail to back up their data, and all it takes is someone encrypting all your data.. and you'll never get it back.

So, the CIA can't just disappear you. They have to concoct a convoluted scheme whereby they create a trojan/virus to infect your computer and download child porn onto it, by randomly placing the infection across the internet, but especially on porn sites. Then they wait till enough material has been placed, or you piss them off enough, to concoct some false evidence that you were in fact involved in downloading it so they can finally use the already secretly downloaded files on your computer to send you to prison forever to silence you for researching UFOs or speaking out against their policies. BUT.....thousands of other people do the same thing (researching UFOs and speaking out) without this happening to them.

I'm thinking that is a ton of man hours wasted, when a CIA guy can just come disappear you or make it look like you had a heart attack while wearing S&M gear.

It's like some people don't even bother to really think, they just let their imaginations fill in the facts.

The government didn't plant the child porn, those people were looking at it or someone they pissed off gained access to their wireless and did it to get back at them.
Much more plausible than an entity like the government doing it. For crying out loud they can practically name you a terrorist for anything and send you to guantanamo. Yet some of you guys really think they'd go to this length just to get a few people like this? Just think about it.

Right. That's exactly what happened.

Appalling simply appalling Sadly I can say I have to believe that our government is capable of doing such things.

Why?

???

It's an obvious excuse from a pedophile to blame that someone else did that to their computers.
But you "have no reason" not to believe such stories. It shows how paranoid you have gotten that the most plausible reason is that government plants child-porn into peoples computers rather than pedophiles themselves.

do you really need any reason?

Above is a good example why the jury-system in the U.S. is more than slightly iffy.

We won't even get into the "drop guns" used to create terrorists out of dead civilians in Iraq.

Woops. I didn't know you were this far away from reality.

It may be. And I am certainly not calling any scenario "the most plausible". Although that may be what you want to portray.

Silly ad hominem. As if that has any bearing on this discussion, or does anything other than hide your lack of reply in spite of your desire for wordines.

Woops. I didn't know you were this far away from reality.

So thats what you go. Two ad hominem's and an assertion that I have said something which was not said. Why did you even bother hitting reply?

I can believe this, it is such an evil tactic too, putting awful images on some random folder on your pc (probably even Hide the specific folder.
Once caught with the images on your pc, your name is ruined and 99.9% of people will believe that the suspect done it.
Not saying that Pedo's do not exist but it is quite the awful scenario for the non pedo.

I have a helpful hint for watchers of, um, non-hollywood motion picture personal dramas.

Virtual machines.

Use VirtualBox or VMware and make a VM. Install a minimal operating system in there (to be safest, use Linux). Do all your late-night 'work' there. If you get a virus, erase the VM and overwrite the diskspace. Almost no viruses escape a VM.

How disturbing if true. I've said this before and will say again.......there is a time to chuck your technology down the toilet. If someone wants to get you bad enough, they will. What a horrible culture we live in.

A trojan seems like such a pain in the butt way to accomplish planting images on someone's hard drive. It would be much easier to use cross site scripting on a website you know the target frequents, and place links to the images in a 0 sized hidden element in the DOM. Instant plant in their browser's history, and image cache. Or, you know, you could use the phishing that you probably would have used to sneak the trojan onto the target in the first place to do the same image loading trick directly.

A caveat though, is that if the target is running an old windows OS that isn't up to date, it actually is easier to just root it remotely. There are so many ways to do this that it's amazing that it doesn't happen more often than it does.

Edit: Oh, just had another idea. You could Man-in-the-Middle their http traffic and inject these hidden images just as well as any other method. Furthermore, video could be loaded the same way. All you would have to do is set it to automatically play, then pause it immediately with a tad of _javascript.

VM software is quite expensive. And it still gets viruses. You can fairly well protect yourself without such measures. And if using for example, Windows 7, you can just create a system image. As long as you do that regularly, even if your computer gets completely screwed up, just run the restore and your computer will be back to the way it was, software, data and the rest.

Windows updates, Java updates, IE trusted settings, Adobe settings, etc.. can all be done to make a computer fairly virusproof. You can still get something, but as long as you recognize your computer is not acting normal, a quick log onto your admin account, a system restore, and presto.. good as new.

Formatting is actually the worse case scenario. If you know what you are looking for it is easy to remove.

There are Always Pointer files and registry entries that can be removed to make them go Away.

The new ones however, can be much worse.

Encryption ransomeware that uses a strong algorithm can make your data impossible to retrieve. That's why the only real defense is a good solid backup - preferably a system image.

Good thing I don't look at porn.

Any way to lock people up. Use the media to turn everyone into perverts, the perverts go online, look at porn, get a porn bug, then get arrested. Deviant plan.

A new virus has been cataloged, and it appears to be planting and distributing child pornography files. Hackers? No. The government is planting child porn on your computer, or so an alert published today indicates.

Before It’s News has interviewed a person, who spoke on condition of anonymity, that has been a victim of the virus implantation. The person was engaged in journalistic exposure of political corruption, and suddenly police appeared on his doorstep with a search warrant....
(visit the link for the full news article)

First, BIN is a tabloid and frankly makes up a lot of the news on the page. Second (speaking as a former computer geek), the story is just plain silly.

ESET Virus Radar has recognized the virus, and calls it Win32/MoliVampire.

Win32 is the API for the old versions of Windows...Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, etc.

Let me translate the headlines into standard English:
OMG!!!! RUN!!!!! THE GOVERNMENT HAS A MEGA-UNDETECTABLE VIRUS THAT WILL GRAB YOUR WINDOWS 95 SYSTEM/WINDOWS NT AND DOWNLOAD EVIL FILES!!!!

a) detecting infections and trojans for Win32 systems is easy
b) while botnets exist (which is sort of what's being described), your ISPs and your firewalls generally block them and alert you if strange things are happening.
c) releasing a virus into the wild is unwise... you can't control your targets. If you're setting up computers with viruses, you plant it directly.
d) writing a virus for systems that are not current is beyond silly.
e) there's no mention of this on the Black Hat Security or White Hat Security sites... and believe me, they would be screaming bloody murder. You'd hear about it all over the Internet and through the major virus sites (because they would be making money on the removal software.)

Actually, Symantec uses that nomenclature for all their viruses that are not targeted for 64 bit machines. So doesn't necessarily mean only old OS types. Their viruses for Windows 7 32 bit are also called Win32.blahblah, etc.

Although I do agree the theory that they are planting viruses to push child porn is ludicrous. The OP has provided absolutely nothing in the way of proof, other than he thinks the government is guilty because it's the sort of thing they would do.

this would be a good way to deal with people without having to do anything physically. i imagine if a person were being investigated or arrested for child pornography that investigators would not be looking for a virus on the computer thats downloading them. if they knew that the virus was downloaded to your computer they still might even screw you over just because a person has a record or anything they dont like about you. i bet damned hard that it would be easily won in a legal battle because of how wrong of an act it would be for a person to be actually downloading that stuff themselves. i personally know someone who was sent to prison and will be there most or all of their life because of their mobile phone. the guy has a wife and two children. basically what happened was that he was using a porn program on his phone or was watching porn with his phone and got in trouble not even knowing that it was child porn. if a girl is 17 and a person watches or downloads porn saying anything along the lines of teen and if theyre not 18 your screwed. i could also see this as an alternative to assassination and getting people out of the way for what ever reason. tptb or even someone who has some type of problem with somebody could theoretically plant this type of program. knowing full well once a person is hit with that label they are screwed forever in the eyes of society if they get out of prison. every time you see a sex offenders photo or are alerted if they move in the neighbor hood. do you really look into it and find out if they were guilty? lol and you know in your mugshot wont be any better than a bad id or school photo!
