This quiz has to be a joke, right?

Which gas makes up most of the Earth's atmosphere?
Male - 20
Female - 27

People don't even know what they're breathing.

yeah, pretty simple and straightforward stuff.... I don't think the one about the greenhouse effect was... entirely accurate.... As water accounts for more thermal insulation than carbon dioxide... but I knew what answer would be graded as "Correct"

13/13

Elementary.

You answered 13 of 13 questions correctly.

Very basic quiz

The electron atom question got me. 85%.
Still, i'm 100% sure I don't actually know any of that stuff first hand besides information regurgitation.

Nitrogen makes up most of our atmosphere WTF when you really think about it.
Most people would think oxygen instantly cause we "need it to breathe" but in reality we need nitrogen lol.

Crazy life on this planet.

If a 9th grade education is all you had, then I am humbled!

After looking at the results on the website, I am even more alarmed. Math is deemed important, followed by writing skills and THEN science.

It would seem that Americans think that being good at math alone will help them be competitive compared to China. Science and math go hand in hand!

Question 6 was worded poorly, but I figure they never changed it so results due to reading it this or that way wouldn't have to be factored in. It's not a question, it's a fill in the blank.

Anyway, just goes to show you, pick your first answer...I almost changed nitrogen, but realized none of the others sounded right...

I got most of the questions correctly. However, I mostly guessed and I was right because I chose the answer that made more sense. It seems this ol' timer is forgetting his science!

13/13. Toughest question seems to be Composition of the Earth's Atmosphere - only 20% get it right. The intuitive answer would be oxygen.

Too easy, they should have thrown in some questions about evolution and the formation of the solar system. That would have thrown a lot of them. They shouldn't have multiple choice either, these had 2-4 options so you can expect to get about 4 or 5 correct just by guessing.

By definition half of all Americans do.

Not at all, what do you mean?

If 85% of people know less about science and technology than me (and I'm not genius) I am absolutely terrified.

I have to agree with you there!

Growing up I used to think that the majority of people were stupid. Then I learned that I am classed in a rare percentage (1/100,000) that learn and retain information in 6/7 ways, and began to think it was just me...I have since returned to my first thought....and what is scarier is that people no seem to use critical thinking skills or common sense.

Damn got 12/13, scored 85% better than most americans and below 7% and the same as 8% so pretty good. still very easy questions. If people especially students and younger adults cant get these right, then we really have a big problem here in the US. Scary

12 /13, stupid Nitrogen...I would expect everyone on here to get at least 12!!

I kind of expect people on ATS to have high scores.

I say, ask a friend/family member who isn't on ATS to take the quiz and see how they do.

How many of you Googled the questions?

You lose, take 10 points off.

Also, how many Americans are too stupid to even use the internet or a computer let alone answer a question?

That's sad. Only 7% can get them all right.

You dont even need formal schooling for any of the questions.
Re-runs of Beakman's World and watching the news once in a while is more than enough.
