I really love the government.
I love everything about it.
How can I help support my government?

Should I paint that on my roof for the drones or would that make it too obvious that I was lying?

I know. Those kind are so tricky. I am skeered.

And for reals, so many people are just ignorant.

Maybe not in the city where most are educated.

It is that rural underclass that are so susceptible to propaganda. And do not take me wrong, I am not trying to demean them, but it is true that uneducated people are easy to manipulate. They are not less of a person than I am, but they, for the most part, cannot think for themselves. And there is a bunch of them.

I dislike how this thread is being used by the Government to falsely label individual idiology and thought process (Critical Thinking) as well as marking all of us posting within this thread, as possible hostels.

Even the Government has been militarized.

I love my country but fear my Government. Why? . . . Just look around.

What comes around goes around. If that sheriff is going to do that then someone should rat on him and say he hates the government or better yet start a rumour he his a pedophile and he will lose his job. I know the rumour part was bad but some how we have to turn the tables here. It seems too one sided. This sheriff is starting something that is going to snowball. Start fighting dirty or just give up and grab your ankles. Time for the underground resistance or run for sheriff yourself. Hell run for president just wear a bullet proof vest and a helmet because a guy on a grassy knoll might get you.

"We need to evaluate the feedback to figure out which are legitimate" will evolve into "We need to take every threat seriously" the moment something happens that they misidentified. The public will cheer them the entire time.

See something, say something will be the death of the country.

This is going to be used and abused. I cant believe they actually got funding for this considering how many people lie. Im so happy to have recently moved to this wonderful state and this even more amazing county. Its good to know big brother is looking out for me.

I also have to say captaintyinknots you might just be insane. You really need to go reread what you wrote in that other thread and here. I dont remember it word for word but it was absurd. I rarely post but its nearly impossible after reading that thread the other day and now this.

Say what you will, im probably not going to respond. Theres really no reason and I dislike typing on my phone. Youll probably pick apart my post sentence for sentence. Thats a great tactic btw, keep up the good work.

There's no faster way to divide people than to encourage citizens to turn each other in. Lots of do-gooders are happy to jump on that bandwagon and turn their neighbors in for whatever they feel is "wrong" (porn, pot smoking, loud music, religious extremism)....Once the cops are in your house, they'll find something (bleach and vinegar=bomb makers, fireworks=bombs, guns?)

What still amazes me is how democrats are ready to throw all their civil liberties away to support Obama. As a former democrat this astounds me.

I can't say I hate my country, but I despise the current administration's anti-American posture towards taking away individual liberties....extending wars....extending patriot act....handing the keys to country to monsanto,JP Morgan...ATS members know the deal...and it sucks for everybody except big business and our nasty leaders.

As a former democrat-leaner, I couldn't agree more.

At any rate, I remember when footage circulated of the 2008 protests in Minn. these hippies had a gray water system and when the cops raided it was deemed urine for use in vandalism.

On the one hand, the example they gave - saying one intends to assassinate a sitting member of local or state government - is probably cause for at least a raising of the eyebrows, and I wouldn't be surprised or even particularly perturbed if someone reported that even without this kind of initiative. After all, people call the police (prompting a car patrol or even a knock at the door) when a neighbor gets drunk and loudly threatens them, and with good reason. I don't completely disagree that tragedies could be (in some cases) prevented or made less likely by a little scrutiny.

On the other hand, right now this is just a knock on the door. But that's just a hop, skip, and a jump away from saying, "Hey, he threatened (insert politician here) verbally. Let's get a warrant and break down his door." And when and if that should occur, then we officially have thought crimes. People having their doors broken down because they thought, felt, or said a thing yet haven't acted on it.

So I can see both the impetus for this sort of thing, and the danger inherent to it. Citizens must be extremely vigilant and observe which way such measures go in my opinion, and watch for abuses. The potential for abuse is great. It's worrying that this came from state government. One of numerous recent examples of how threats to civil liberties don't always derive from federal government.

Peace.

You always here the people say, "Oh he was such a nice boy", and "never saw that coming", et al, when they are interviewed after the fact. Or, "He was such a loner, always kept to himself".

This is just conditioning people to be suspicious and rat each other out.

The way they divide and conquer and get everyone's panties and shorts in a wad over stupid stuff, I imagine they are going to have to eventually offshore their call centers to India. I mean they only got a million bucks.

Well, I decided to share this story with ATS, because it comes from my home state of FL, and you are right, Florida has some pretty tight laws, and a lot of police corruption.. even my local town has dealt with police corruption, and governmental corruption. So, even if this event is happening in 1 city right now, It could become the model of the entire state.. and that is why I was worried, I felt others from Florida could use this information.

Is there a reason you are selectively ignoring the full quote from the Sheriff of -

“We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor and he’s gonna shoot him,”

So, if someone says they are going to shoot someone then it's not something to be even mildly concerned about? Strange thinking....

The thing is, it's always been the law to report someone if they've confided in someone that they're going to commit a premeditated murder or assault with a deadly weapon, so why is the sheriff acting like this is something new he just thought of and is getting funding for this original idea?
The problem is that this soon to be murderer is ANTI-GOVERNMENT.
Just like the parents who kidnapped their kids recently and fled to Cuba. The keyword the media was using was ANTI-GOVERNMENT.

Tell us oh wise and wonderful city dweller how is it that if it is the fault of us "rural unedjucated underclass" why is it that it was the most densly populated areas that wanted this a hole as president. It sure was us poor dumb country folk.

Since were pointing fingers at segments of the population I'm going with woman. Its all thier fault. They seek and crave "Security" and they can't find it in the men in the city cause they turned them all into wusses and henchmen, so they turn to big daddy government who is more than willing to make all you do gooders feel warm and fuzzy.

Who else can we blame anyone?

Is there a reason you aren't reading the article yourself and determining the outcome? Just because you think a title is sensational, doesn't mean it is, there was clearly a comma that separated the first statement, from the second statement.

you are right that was in poor taste and characterizing people and putting them in a box and all those bad things. I am not an elitist. I have family that are in that class. I just have discovered within my own family, those that have grown up a certain way and with certain values and less education end up being the ones that are not that bright. Look, my roots are the Hatfields and McCoys. I kid you not. I buried my grandfather back there in the tri-state area about 5 years ago and he went right into the family graveyard with all of them. They all inter-married and I am their kin.

The comma is being used to provide good grammar you are inferring he is making one of three different statements. If that was the case then they would usually be separated out fully.

That still does not explain why you think it is "Dumb" peoples fault. Are you suggesting that they really have some clout. Thats obsurd. It is the supposedly "smart" folks making the descisions and leading them by the nose.
I would be willing to bet that most of these "dummies" have NO idea whats going on and likely didn't vote. They just want to be left alone to live happy and free. Us "rural uneducated" types just don't have any desire to but into our neighbors business. All of this rot in our country is eminating from the festering halls of academia where you get the likes of the commie like bill ayers who admited back then they may have to kill 25 million people who won't go along with exactly what is happening now.
That would be us "uneducated" people who understand that early on the repblic was stolen by you "educated" folk for sick social experements.
Best way to stop tyrants is ignore them.

If Joe Navarro admits that even he, the man responsible for re-engineering the profiling process for the FBI, will never, ever be a sure-shot at identifying a liar, and at best determines the truth about half the time, then some yokel doused in flop-sweat who just took a course confirming that the breaking of a contraction into its two base-words constitutes a liar doesn't have a prayer. Determining whether a person is lying ALWAYS requires assessing a subject's baseline behavior which can only be done when someone feels comfortable with an environment and subject matter. It doesn't take long, but it absolutely cannot take place over the phone with any reliability. This town just got punk'd.

I have read all your attempts to rephrase Captaintyinknots' posts and I must say either you can't read and comprehend English or you are some kind of shill working on a campaign to discredit him.

Really those are the only two choices. Either way it was lame ...

What the sheriff is asking for is the kind of thing that will positively chill political speech - even among friends and neighbors.

How many of you are concerned now about the things you have said in posts here on ATS. Any of you just a little worried that those posts might be read back to you while you sit in an interrogation room?

Its not hard to see the direction everything is going in ... dark times ahead ... dark times.

IMO, we may be at that threshold where it's time to go quiet. Our words are mostly falling on def ears - and the rest? They belong to the choir already.

Many, I'm sure, think that threshold was crossed a long time ago.
