Really? ...and here I thought I was unique in having a Shia woman spend many nights helping clear my ignorance of the Islamic Faith and basic Tenets of the Holy Quran. Now I'm crushed.

Don't let me interfere with everyone's "bash the Op" party. I sure didn't mean to break it up or anything. Of course..when topics languish on the New Topics list for as many as 2+ hours these days during previous high traffic periods without new things being posted? No need to wonder TOO hard why many might have things they'd like to add and start a discussion on...but flat won't get in the ring to be hit from all sides ..just for doing so.

Nice .. what things are like. I'm back to real world things that matter for awhile. Threads like this make me wonder why the time spent is still worth the effort. Not the Op...but the near vicious reaction and then, vicious defense of it.
Sad...

Well I've just provided numerous sources backing up what I've just said, you tell me about a woman you met who told you...

====> Also, I don't think anyone's bashing the OP...

Interesting, Wrabbit, I thought that Press TV was indirectly "owned" by the CIA through Al Jazeera.

Alas, I have no links. Do you have any that purport PTV is actually owned by Iran? I think Wikipedia has some kind of disclaimer at the top of its article.

It is state owned by Iran, in the exact same way that NHK is owned by Japan, the BBC is owned by the UK etc, etc.

But obviously it's Iranian so it must be super evil...

I'm half way through the "Talk Page" on wiki. Some very interesting things stated. Still no CIA "connection" is listed but several writers kinda sorta allude to it.

You'll have to go to the Press TV talk page from the Press TV Wiki page.

I wonder how this Expose' would be if say a Supermodel such as Adriana Lima suddenly wanted a go as a journalist, would we have the same thing? "adult entertainment and big-boozed party girl". Such sensationalism.

Seriously. She was probably trying to have a good time and/or also find ways to pay for a possible degree in journalism?

Can people not change their jobs?

This "Exposing" is just quite harsh journalism about someones past appealing to the prudes in society.

Get a life.

Oddly Adriana Lima is a well known good girl .
So that just goes to show you never know.

From Wikipedia;
She is a devout Roman Catholic who attends mass every Sunday. In April 2006, she told GQ that she was a virgin. "Sex is for after marriage," she explained. "They [men] have to respect that this is my choice. If there's no respect, that means they don't want me."[77][78]
After nine months of dating, Lima became engaged to Serbian NBA player Marko Jarić in June 2008.[79] The couple married on St. Valentine's Day 2009 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.[80][81] In May 2009, it was reported that Lima had applied for Serbian citizenship.[82] The couple have two daughters: Valentina Lima Jarić (Serbian Cyrillic: Валентина Лима Јарић, born November 15, 2009)[83] and Sienna (Serbian Cyrillic: Сијена Лима Јарић, born September 12, 2012).[84]

What a minute, you're telling me Press TV hired a porn star to be one of their reporters? Howard Stern has his own news crew but even he doesn't have a porn star on his staff let alone the news crew, although I'm sure he will one day

So yeah, what the hell is Press TV thinking? They already have a reputation and I dunno if hiring a super hot porn star is the right move. Press TV probably will see an increase of males in all age brackets though.

I think she looks great. I do not understand what the problem is? Strippers grow up and get out of the business ALL THE TIME. Many of the women you see on TV started out on the stripper pole. Whenever you see a female weatherperson or newscaster, check out their stage name. Destiny Devine, and similar names indicate stripper past.

Stoning has long not been used to execute people for that crime.

And about this person ,

Was she a Muslim while she was playing these movies ?

If she were a Muslims , she maybe executed if the judge decides , but it is not as easy as it looks. I mean , every woman who commits adultery is not stoned to death. Judge can forgive the adulterers , in some circumstances.

And If she was not a Muslims , and she is sorry about her past , she maybe appropriate for the job. But it is better to avoid giving her the job.

And If she was not a Muslims , and she is not sorry about her past , she should not be employed at all.

BTW , I can not say I am sure that the reporter is employed by a Muslim or the the employer knew about her past.

I hope god forgive all our sins.

I assume you're asking that in sincere curiosity and not combativeness. A lot of the latter going around lately ..and frankly. with all I'm dealing with in the real world at the moment, (School finals only being a small part, truth be known), I'm just too exhausted mentally and emotionally to put up a proper fight on much of anything right now.

In the spirit of being helpful though, I'd note I put some time into answering this for myself not that long ago on both PressTV and Russia Today. They're both State owned media organizations by their respective Governments. Just like Voice of America is owned and controlled (tho they won't admit the control on many days) by the U.S. Government.

As part of the United States expansive new sanctions against Iran, North American cable networks have pulled the plug on the country's state-run, English-language news network Press TV.

Calling the move a "flagrant violation of freedom of speech," Press TV announced Saturday that they had been dropped from the Galaxy 19 satellite platform which had previously broadcast the channel in the United States and Canada.

New sanctions announced by the US Treasury Department this week blacklisted Iran's state-run television network, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), as well as its director, Ezatollah Zarghami.
(Source)

IRIB owns it, lock stock and microphone.

–The Franco-Israeli head of Eutelsat, Michel de Rosen, has begun a new wave of attacks against Iranian TV channels.

In a letter to Asian and European satellite companies, de Rosen has threatened the companies to drop Iranian entertainment and news channels.

In the letter obtained by Press TV, the Franco-Israeli Eutelsat chief has warned satellite companies to remove Iranian channels or prepare to face the consequences of defying his order.
(Source)

and I figure, given the atmosphere here lately, it never hurts to go that extra mile (or source) to be thorough, eh?

In fits and starts, Iran this month entered the business of providing 24-hour English-language satellite television news programming, competing in a field that includes BBC World, CNN International, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Al Jazeera International and France 24.

The government aims to use Press TV to counter what it sees as a steady stream of Western propaganda against Iran as well as offer an alternative view of world news.
(Source ..from 2007)

There is nothing inherently wrong with Iran having a state run news service, outright. Any more than there is anything wrong with Russia running RT through a larger Media organization it does directly possess in an open way. Neither necessarily says they are dishonest or deceitful. It just speaks to a very definite built in bias along the same lines as Fox is leaning about 90 degrees to the right, while MSNBC leans about 90 degrees to the left.

In the case of this thread, it just kinda surprised me, given the who and what, in context.

In fairness, to clarify what I've seen for videos in and out of academic settings regarding the stoning execution of women in Iran? They never claimed to be actions out of proper Iranian Courts. It's been pretty clear by setting and behavior that it was in rural areas and a free wheeling kind of Judgment with sentence. In a long thread I did here on the Geography of Iran in terms of ever having to go to war there, I'd found maps and posted one that showed just HOW diverse Iran actually is. I think many Americans think of the nation as one big family of like minded people ...as we've all been led to believe Iraq and Libya were. They weren't...but Iran is nearly as diverse as the US as far as different folks following very different ideas of how things ought to work in daily life. It looked like the further from Tehran and the major cities on the coast it got, the truer that became?

Can anyone make a more positive match other than just the dirty/dark blond hair?

I dont see much resemblance; the nose is alot higher and the face is alot fatter, on PressTV chick than the glamour model.
