I often seen in american movie that the swiss school are compared with youth prison...
It makes me laught because I've pased several years in a swiss orphan institute when I was very young, before getting put in a nurse (But I call hert my grand-mother) near Paris.
It wasn't so a prison, but the Vaud County and Genova town really respect the Bible and the religion. That"s why they have an image of serverity and austerity...

I dont think that it's quiet like Vevey and the Vaud Riviera, where 70% of the population is upper than 60 years...

So safety-conscious are the Swiss, Nans that they're apparently importing German police to deal with any unpleasantness from anti-globalisation protesters.

And I'm quite prepared to accept that the longSwiss history of denying the franchise to the ladies may have stemmed from a desire for "safety"!

Perversely, Swiss rules concerning military service means that the civilians are probably second only to Americans in being armed to the teeth. Which makes one rather wonder whether gun-crime in the USA is merely a matter of availability (as the anti-gun lobby would nsist).

But I dont know about the German Polices Forces in Evian. Altought that it's not in a german speaking area and the swiss governement said that they wont send any military at the frontier between swiss and France.

But the French security will be important, that's sure...

French has become a police state, we are even military patrols in the street and subway of Paris, because of Vigipirate.

Swiss is not a perfet country also, but it's a quiet place (In the french speaking part because Zurich is really an unsafe town).

There were a few restrictions introduced in 1999; but -essentially -the Swiss can buy guns freely and are, in fact, in many cases required by the militia laws to have them. Yet gun-related homicdes are almost non-existent -less than 10% in terms of population of the US rate..
So maybe "guns don't kill people: people kill people" -but it possibly depends on which people.

You cant buy freely a gun in swiss : Every years, each swiss male between 18 and 45 years go to a defence training. You can refuse to participate to these defense training, but all the participant must have their own rifle ! That's why many houses in swiss have 1 rifle per man!

Vigipirate Plan is the anti-terrorist plan name in France. Maybe it's called like that because even them know that they aren"t legal ! Vigipirate plan is police state, enforced with militaries, machine guns in the street...
