Lets All Go Libertarian!

I say we just oust the reps and the demis and all go libertarian!
Maybe then we can all get along
The reps could have there guns
The demis can have there drugs
and we could all have our freedom secured!

The Libertarians becoming a major party isn't going to happen anytime soon methinks. The demowimps and the repigs would tear them apart with all the politically motivated mud-throwing they could muster. I don't think this country could handle that much political party diversity in the mainstream...

I actually agree w/ a large part of the Libertarian platform, but they need to address their isolationist plank.

That stance is untenable in today's world as much as it was pre-WW 2.

Nah, I prefer a more extensive procedure to enter this country than that of a line at McDonalds. "ok, we're showing no info on you being a terrorist(yet), so come on in" I wonder how many suicide bombers had historys of being so, before they commited the act?

With the obvious media blackout, it is near impossible to get the word out on the Libertarian Party at all. I mean, the LP candidate gets virtually as many votes as Nader, but nader is the only candidate that anyone will even talk about running against Bush and Kerry.

I am already Libertarian and have been for about 25 years. I disagree with the thought that we will not become a major player because right now the Democrats are self destructing and the Republicans hold power in all three branches. When the country is tired of trillion dollar debt and one war after another you will see the Republican Party split with those believing in Personal freedom joining the Libertarians, its already happining on a small scale.

The Republicans can only blame Clinton so long before they have to start taking some responsabilty them selves. Sooner or later they will have to restart the draft and between that, there more extreme right wing religious views (Pat Robinson, Jerry Falwell) and there creeping police state they to will self destruct.

If gox news, ABC news, NBC, MSNBC started having storys everyday explaining why the LIBERTARIAN party is bad. Do you know what would happen?

PEOPLE WOULD KNOW THE LIBERTARIANS EXIST

Afterwards, people would go "OMFG I CAN VOTE FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN REPUBLICAN // DEMOCRAT"

Some with internet connections would go to www.LP.org and learn about the libertarians and say OMFG THEY ROCK then they would tell their friends to research. TONS OF PEOPLE would end up knowing sh1t and becoming smarter.

So, thats why the libertarians aren't getting on the NEWS channles: If they did- a few would research, they would spread the news, the party would grow

I knew nothing of the Libertarian party until several months ago. It was posts on this site that led me to read up on them. After reading up, I voted Libertarian and will continue to do so.

I've heard alot about Nader on the common outlets in the monthes leading up to the election but nothing about Badnarik. I think Badnarik received more votes than Nader in alot of states and he(Badnarik) was on more state ballots.

I spent an hour trying to convince a friend that I didn't throw my vote away by voting for Badnarik. He eventually believed me that I honestly felt that way and respected my decision but he still responded with "I just want my vote to count, I want to vote for the guy who wins". The funny thing is he agreed with more of the Libertarian point of view than either the Dems or Repubs but said he'd never consider voting for a third party. I'm totally confused.

I have heard this lame arguemnet over and over like it is a horse race and you have to pick the winner because the only votes that DO count are the ones for the winner. Untill people lose that attitude we will never see any change.

One thing is for sure, after the main choices with this election I will be educating myself better with third party candidates next time around.

I think you and about 50 million more feel the same way. I think the time of the Big Two is quickly coming to an end. I think BOTH parties are going to the extreme and most voters are somewhere in the middle. We are seeing the last gasps of the Democrats and with out them to blame for everything the Republicans will have to take responsabilty for this mess and will probebly split with those wanting personal freedom going to other parties like the Libertarians or the Constitution Party.

This is not directed at you moxy, I'm only using your post to make a point. The majority of democrats and republicans have strong disagreements with certain parts of their own party platform - yet they remain Dems and Repubs. It should be no different if you are Libertarian.

I share you and DFD concerns about isolationism and immigration. But I'm also a realist and understand that in a global economy this is not an absolute by any means.

The question you need to ask is do I agree with the Libertarian platform more than I agree with my current party's?

It doesn't matter what party name you run under. As long as the greed exists that drives the republican party and those people still exist on the planet the problem will continue. These people have sold this country out. They have sold out to the enemy (China) for sake of a profit. They have shipped your jobs overseas. They have stripped the right to overtime from skilled workers. They have sold you out. And what is their reward? Nearly 58 million questionable Americans vote for Bush. I am going to be laughing at all those that voted for him when he and his Nazi type party bankrupt this country.
