BRITONS left their country in record numbers in 2003, but new immigrants to Britain outweighed those departing, figures released today show.
The Office for National Statistics said a record 190,900 British citizens left to live abroad for 12 months or more in 2003, up more than 5000 over
the previous year.
Those from Commonwealth countries such as Australia, New Zealand, India, Nigeria, Jamaica, Bangladesh and Pakistan, accounted for the second largest
group of immigrants, a total of 107,300.
I'd like to see a more detailed breakdown of people emigrating to the U.K.
I live in Oz and have quite a few U.K. expat' friends, and they love Oz and tell family and friends
to consider emigrating to Oz. I'm not disputing the numbers, just interested in the demographics.
