Do good, however small or large doesn't matter.. just do good and ask that good be passed along. It's simple I know, but if we all just continue to do good deeds it has the capacity to build on itself.

Don't let the negative get you, build on the positive instead.

There has always been greed and materialism. What's so different about it in current times? There has always been the very poor, the very rich and some in the middle (military?). A recurring cycle that collapses, reforms and evolves into the same type of system.

Stop cooperating. Stop banking and go with credit unions. Stop paying taxes that support the demise of our freedom while enriching the military complex.Purchase only home grown local goods and produce, I would consider shopping at Walmart to be somewhat treasonous. Stop voting in a two party system, it's all rigged anyway so spend your time doing something useful like helping a neighbor. Turn of the idiot box and start communicating with something that has a heart beat. Stop cooperating with the corporations that control our lives.

I'm afraid that the only freedom most westerners really care about is the freedom that convenience brings.

Sorry, but you lost me "zionist governments"....it implies that Iran, Syria, Lebanon and others are the good guys. Lots of nasty governments out there....and I would hardly call U.S government, with Obama the ultimate Moslem sympathizer, zionist.

I dont really like the way you opened this thread with blaming everyone on this site, saying 'do none of you care'...

The average Joe doesn't have enough to care for others, the average Joe just about has enough to care for himself!

I think you needed to direct the message at the 1%. They have the billions, they are the only ones who can do anything, and of course the Worlds Leaders!

You can give to the Charities when they come on TV asking for it, or those 'Live Aid' events but at the end of the day, nothing changes.

I am what would be called a sustainability accountant having degrees and education in biology, accounting and business administration. Just chiming in to add my voice to yours and say yes, there is movement to do better. Much, much better. There are two areas in which these abuses to the world exist and both are created in the world of accounting. that awareness is growing and the view is changing. H. Thomas Johnson was the father of lean accounting and now is pushing hard to modify his very creation so that it embodies a more ecologically sustainable process. As one of his peers and personal friends once told me, he has become a radical within the field.

To all those who think that there is nothing to be done, that they are powerless, and that disaster is an inevitability, I say to you do not give up hope. We each have immense power to change the world around us.
I see the world just as Anonymous depicted it and have long seen it. I cannot close my eyes to it. Instead of caving into despair, I chose instead to do something about it with every inch of my life. We are a low consumption household that values quality and sustainability and actual need above petty wants and marketing induced desires. The effects that this embrace has had positive impacts on having more money in the bank at the end of the day, means that we do not recklessly contribute to the endless production of goods and produce only a fraction of garbage by the time garbage day arrives. We choose to buy foods that lack some of the worst offenders in food quality and avoid purchasing foods that basically feed the very problem, itself. Con Agra, Kelloggs, General Mills, Kraft, Bimbo, Dole, and Nestle can kiss my ***. I flat out refuse to be a part of the problem and chose to reward those companies that make better choices with my dollar.

I have seen change work within the market--absolutely. Foods containing high fructose corn syrup used to never be noted and yet, as people started learning more about it, now I see foods lining the shelves that make a point of remarking that they do not contain it. Heck, even Pepsico responded by offering a product that returned to their old formula that used sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup. There was enough of a niche in the market to make it economically viable to do these things. You have immense strength and power. You can either feel helpless and continue on as you are or you can be aware of your strength and power and chose to do better. Don't leave us radicals within the industry to fight the good fight alone.

What I'm talking about isn't even as simple as boycotting a manufacturer. It's comprehending how much control these entities have and understanding how what we do only assists them to gain more control if we continue on with the status quo. You want that power dynamic shifted--then do it with your dollar to the extent where it allows competition to be restored and forces them to downsize. Less money in the bank means less money for advertising, mergers and procurements, campaign donations and more. At the end of the day, if doing what is right is of questionable importance to such entities, then hit them where it really matters to them--their bottom lines. Social contract doesn't just embody the relationship between people and their government. It also exists within the market place.

As for governments, their bottom line is votes. If our political systems are failing and falling into corruption because of a greater entity, then why even vote for those individuals that choose to support those entities? Why feed into the duality of party that undermines our democracy? Simply because we are told that the other is bad or because we're told that voter fraud makes it pointless? Who is telling us these things? The other party...To not even vote because you feel its pointless is to give up. Don't ever give up. We can change the world.

Well OP thanks for a great video. I understand how you can feel bad that so few see where we are headed, but I do believe that more and more are awakening, and probably a lot of them are right here on ATS. The only problems, at least in my estimation, are that when enough people finally awake and protest, the government is prepared and waiting to crush this resistance with the thugs they have assembled (ammo purchases anyone?), and the fact that it has gone so far that the only way to curb it would be considered terrorism or treason. The time for talk and reasoning is over, so unless you want to take up a life of crime, the only choice for most of us, including me, is is to wait until the collapse and be eliminated.

Keep in mind that NO nation in the history of the world has ever decayed to the point of collapse and then did a 180 to turn around and right itself. Collapse is ALWAYS the end result and it is now the destiny of America to do exactly that. Trees only grow so high before they fall down, grasshopper. But I'll give you a star for caring.

*I didn't know what forum this video should be in so I picked this one*

Do you see what I see?
I see 7 billion people on earth.
I see 30,000 children dying from starvation everyday.
I see half naked super models exploiting themselves and selling their souls.
I see 1 million pounds of food thrown away everyday.

The video goes on and it gets more intense.

My question is how in the holy hell has it gotten so bad? Do none of you care that this is happening. I can't save the world by my self I need all of you.
It has become a real life "haves and the have nots" if you do not have the money you have nothing then. Please watch the video it brought a tear to my eye, I feel the pain of millions suffering and dying while I sit in my 2 bedroom (messy) apartment with only milk and mac'n'cheese to eat I feel I do not deserve my mac'n'cheese knowing so many humans mostly children are one bread crumb away from falling over dead.

If this doesn't make you want to help and stop living in your own little bubble of "my life is awesome, let's buy a new *insert toy here*" then all is lost, you might as well nuzzle up to your warm TV and pray to the bosses they don't cancel your favorite show.

The Bombings IMO are a wake up call, America your shields are failing Red Alert! All hands on deck!
Take what you will in what I think is a beautiful yet scary Anonymous video.

I can understand how so many people have failed to realize how things really work, because they purposefully avoid anything that would alert them to this fact. They justify not knowing in various ways, all of which are simply excuses. What really pisses me off however are those who know all of these horrible things that go on, yet will not admit that there is a problem, or will not admit that governments like that of America are responsible for some of it. Of course there are many problems around the world, but those in the US alone are bad enough that everyone should realize them at this point. I could understand someone not knowing what things are happening across the globe, but many of the problems are here in our own country.

Another one I would have liked to see on your list is that individuals who play professional sports make millions of dollars. That is just ridiculous. Think of how much money is wasted around the globe on crap like this. All of that money could save lives, yet one person makes many millions of dollars for playing with a ball, and people are dying. I really do hate capitalism for this very reason. It is great if one believes that greatness means there are a small percentage of people who control all the money, while the majority have very little.

And this is a fact. One can simply look at how much wealth the top ONE PERCENT control. If that does not blow your mind and make you realize that there is a problem, nothing will in my opinion. No one person needs that much money or wealth. It is that simple. And anyone who thinks that this is okay, while so many people starve, cannot go to the doctor, etc., is just heartless. Anyone who will say "oh well they should have worked harder," or some other cliché, while people are dying pointlessly, are selfish. They are putting their selfish desires before compassion. I cannot understand why so many people lack compassion in the first place, and I thin it has to do with the fact that, as I said, they are blind to the facts of the real world.

Our system conditions people to go to school, graduate, get a job, buy a house, etc., and it does not focus one bit on educating the masses as to the condition of the world. It is like a vacuum, that sucks people in and makes them oblivious. Another thing has to do with what I mentioned about wealth inequality. There are many who would probably say well capitalism is better than communism, or something like that, but they fail to realize that there is always middle ground. People can accumulate wealth, but why on earth does one person need billions of dollars? And no matter how hard they work, NOBODY deserves to make that much money. And I can guarantee everyone that there are people who have spent their entire lives working harder than many of those who are filthy rich, but despite this fact they are broke. So do not perpetuate the lie that hard work means wealth. It is just that, A LIE.

And too many people hear the word communism and think of places like China, the former USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, etc., but what they fail to realize is that the government has helped perpetuate this myth that these countries are communist. The whole "war against communism" during the 70's was not that at all. Instead of people educating themselves on what communism and socialism actually are, they just take someone else's word for it. Had they educated themselves, they would realize that none of these countries were communist countries. A communist country does not have this one dictator leading the nation, suppressing the rights of the people, and all the other horrible things that we see in most of those countries I listed. In a communist nation everyone has equal rights, there are not starving people, there is not a dictator, the people own the means of production, and therefore share in the profits of all industries.

There is not this severe wealth inequality. So can someone telll me what is wrong with that? There are those who, when asked to tell the bad side of communism, who will start by spouting off atrocities committed in the countries I listed earlier, as if that were evidence of communism being bad. If those nations call themselves communist, they are lying, because they are not, as I already explained. And why am I going on about communism in the first place? Because I already pointed out that capitalism as an economic form is useless, and instead of just pointing out what is broken, I would like to offer up solutions as well for something better.

Communism can be looked at as only an economic system, where the people own the means of production and share in the profits of industry, but of course there are aspects that will affect the government. A true communist nation is governed by the people. I would propose that a Utopian society would be a mixture of capitalism and communism, along with some other ideas here and there. Part of the problem in supposedly democratic countries where

the people elect officials to represent them is that the people are not truly represented. It seems as if this whole left vs right spectrum is a product, and did not develop because the majority believes the ideas of one party or the other. What I mean is that they believe them, but only because they have been conditioned to believe one or the other because there are simply no other choices. Someone who is truly neither dem or republican will have to choose if they want to feel like their vote counted. That is another part of a broken system. We have so many flavors of everything else in this country and in our lives, yet we are content with only two political parties? Give me a break.

It should be obvious that the reason only two parties have been allowed to excel in this manner is because it is easy to control a system with only two players. Continuing what I was saying a little while ago, the people are not represented in government, but are simply given the illusion that they are. What I would propose for a solution in a Utopian society would be this:

Regular citizens are randomly picked and rotated in and out of public offices, sort of like how jury duty works. And one argument against this would be that people would not understand what is going on. That is precisely the problem. If we did things this way, there are no career politicians, and everything would have to be explained in a manner that is easy to understand for the whole nation. There would be many benefits to a system of this nature, but mainly it would eliminate these cabals in our governmental system that have too much authority and no checks and balances. I could honestly go on all day about problems in just the government, along with solutions I think are viable options for a better society. Things today are just screwed up, plain and simple.

Why? Greed. Human weakness. Lack of compassion. No empathy or sympathy. So knowing this it is dumb to give authority to a handful of individuals, especially if those individuals have their power for long periods of time. They are going to abuse it, and they are going to put their own interests before the interests of the people. This is a fact of human nature. The solution is to not give anyone that much power. I will wrap this up now, as I have gone on too long, but I just want to say that I agree with the OP one hundred percent. Things need to change. And there are many, many more problems that have not been listed in this thread, some of which are even bigger problems potentially, depending on how you view things.

The problem is:

The people who care for others, do not care for control.

The people who care for control, do not care for others.

The people who care, are just as powerless as the people who are dieing.

You cannot beat someone who is willing to sell their soul unless you are willing to do the same; and I rather die than sell my soul.

The problem is you have the average worker supporting policies that cater to corporate interests and the elite.

We're not defenseless, we can do something! Every time we vote, stop voting for candidates that continue to vote for policies that keep 90% of us slaves to the military complex, corporations, the banking industry, insurance companies and the elite. We have nobody to blame, but ourselves. 10 percent of the earth's population is keeping us enslaved, while half of the 90 percent are blindly supporting them.

We need to demand more from our government officials, yet we continue to give them our stamp of approval every time we vote for the candidates that continue to support the same corrupt entities that control our government. We have government officials who have been in office for over 20 years! A lot of them should be retired or sitting in a rocking chair at a retirement home! Just look at the age of these representatives! Age and service of Representatives Why do we continue to vote these people into office? We need to send a clear message that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore!

Just being facetious as I am sure you figured out. Actually, you are one of the FIRST people I have run across that can see this and has the nerve to sing out. Well.. I think all normal people feel the same when they see people starving etc. But sadly the world is overpopulated and we`ve become completely dependant on the society we`ve built
Without oil and electricity we can`t produce enough food. And without further growth the world economies collapse, the world economy needs more people, the climate does not.
In other words.. we`re in a lose-lose scenario. And probably one of the only things that could save this world is a world wide pandemic/epedemic to remove about 1/4th of our population. And THAT is scary..
The world as we know it is running out of resources FAST. And we produce to much toxins and garbage to preserve it. Oceans are dying, and wildlife is scarce.
The worst realistic and statistically probable thing that could happen right now is some disaster that takes out a few more nuclear powerplants. If we get any more fukoshimas then that`s all she wrote....
My point is, if we saved everyone we would be worse off. And you don`t really go around shooting yourself in the leg...do you?

This Anon group are nothing but Hacktivist's and they do what do they do for selfish reasons. Anon has done nothing but put out videos of anti government rhetoric that returns a positive view of what the goverment wants in terms of CISPA. Anon is nothing but but a government funded phyop to crash websites for added discourse, all for added pressure to pass CISPA.

You tell me to open my eyes. I did. Sorry you did not get the response you were looking for.

I have seen nothing from anon that helps citizens. Everything Anon has done thus far has brought only a hindrance to our online freedom! They spout non sense about corrupt governments to gain our attention, but then do nothing to expose it. All they do is exploit vulnerabilities on websites or ddos websites to bring them down THAT'S IT. How can they say they are for the people when they only serve themself? A big fat FU to Anon, and a thanks for reopening my eyes.
