Is Beauty Being Manipulated?

People Magazine named Gwyneth Paltrow the most beautiful woman in the world. Uh-uh, not even close.

Gwyneth Paltrow isn't even the most beautiful woman in the U.S. She's not even the most beautiful female entertainer.

Sure, Miss Paltrow is a cute girl. I'll even go so far as to say she is a pretty girl, but very average. I don't want to list all the females that make Gwyneth look like Shrek (but, I will: K Zeta-Jones, Eva Longoria, Kristin Kreuk, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Simpson...).

Over the last twenty years most of the leading ladies in movies just haven't had that 'Wow' factor. So, is this a conspiracy out of Hollywood and the magazines to try to make average females feel better about themselves? I think so. They made it a fad to bash the skinny supermodels when none of the millions of male gawkers were complaining. Now they're trying to shove the truly beautiful into the closet.

So, who is the most beautiful woman in the WORLD? The only beautiful woman that comes to mind right now is Kate Beckinsale. But, if anyone cares to suggest another, hey, I'm easy.

i dont think people magazine is the most credible source that I would go to when looking for anything. Its all about openion you named some poeple that I dont think are that beautiful and I think she blows them out of the water but you also named a couple that I think blows her out of the water so... Its all about what you like..

There are guys who think 400lbs women and more fat rolls the better are beautiful there are even magizines that have only really fat women in them (porno types) I say NO THANKS SIR id rather gouge my eyes out.. but hey one mans trash is another mans treasure...

Mila Kunis, hands down. She's beyond gorgeous to me. I could list a bunch of others but Mila is always in first place for me. Oh, and Megan Fox is definitely on the list for me.

The MSM version of beauty is no where near what I perceive it to be.

Why some rich white Hollywood girl? Is that beautiful??

Also, trying to identify ONE beautiful woman on the planet has got to be the most materialistic thing we do in western society. All women are "beautiful" in one way or another as the old adage goes..

This tries to make our natural selection a competition.

I think Gwyneth is more beautiful than all those women you mentioned. But as others have said, it's in the beholder's eye. There are MANY beautiful people. To choose one would be impossible for me. Though I've been an Angelina fan for years.

Should average looking woman be in movies, yes why not.
Should people magazine name plain woman as most beautiful woman in world, yes why not people tell worse mistruths, eg santa claus, democracy is freedom etc

Though she is getting up in the years... Michelle Pfiefer always did it for me.

Well it's hard to know if a person is beautiful in a picture. They can't even take natural pictures in school anymore, they photoshop most of the pictures nowadays. A kid goes through school trying to look as good as their class picture. Talk about giving people an inferiority complex at a young age.

We are training our society to be very naive, promoting plastic surgery and perfectly white teeth. We are who we are, why would anyone want to be who they are not. By making us feel inferior, people can profit off of us. Confidence in oneself doesn't require a hundred dollar a bottle perfume or perfect skin. Confidence attracts others, happiness is supposed to attract others. Neither of these require huge amounts of money.

I would have gone with Mila (I love her eyes and little nose) but did you see her in Oz? She changed.

As for Meagan Fox, she has a nicely shaped skull, but I just don't find her beautiful. Same with Demi Moore; nicely shaped face, but she doesn't make my heart pound.

It is not a conspiracy because it is done out in the open, its advertising, indoctrination, marketing and social engineering. The only secret is that everyone avoids talking about it, look how people get into the metro sexual thing or the emmo meme etc...

There is in fact a large portion of the population that is not affected by this type of thing in fact the more they push the program the more we resist, my view of a pretty lady is not an anorexic heroin ravaged body. I love the classic Greek look...
