Dozens of people have been killed in battle between protesters and security forces, according to ministry of defence.

Clashes between security forces and anti-government protesters in northern Iraq have left dozens killed, officials said. The clashes broke out early on Tuesday morning when security forces entered an open area in Hawijah, west of Kirkuk, where demonstrations have been held since January. Iraq's ministry of defence said, in a statement, that 20 armed men were killed along with three army personnel - one officer and two soldiers - in the blasts. The statement also said that the armed men used protesters as cover, and that the army has arrested 75 "fighters" and seized 40 rifles, plus grenades. Sheikh Abdullah Sami al-Asi, a Sunni provincial official, said the fighting began when security forces entered the protest area in the town and tried to make arrests. Minister A Sunni member of the Iraqi cabinet resigned on Tuesday in protest after the security forces moved in against the mainly Sunni protesters.

As the Title suggests, seems to me the cheese hits the fan when these middle eastern protests are met with deadly force. Is the Iraq government soon to be toppled by "the people" ?

Iraq is already divided into two states thanks to Zionists , and it has not even 1 % chance to follow this Arab spring or Islamic awakening. The chance is that Zionists break it into 3 states.

Those revolutions were based on expelling the dictator out of their countries and that is the key part that Iraq protesting lacks.

Certain elements, like a government that was pretty much put into place because of Western action in the past, could be a catalyst for an uprising, one would think?

Iraq has stated previously that if the "rebels" in Syria are victorious that it would bring about a civil war in Iraq. These "protestors," are of course Sunni Muslims. The same one's who are fighting in Syria and elsewhere. Iraq is now ruled by the Shia Muslims, after Saddam was removed. The Sunni Muslims are attempting a power grab, as they likely see the time is right with things in Syria. However, it is my opinion, that the time is not right. And this resulted in the number of dead. Syria is far from over, the "rebels," if anything, are the one's close to being defeated, and with the Iraqi government stating it is unacceptable for them to be victorious in Syria, This "protest" was destined to bring about this result. A Civil war is looming in Iraq, anyone else thinking of all the car bombs in Iraq targeting Shia's and all other ethnicities besides Sunni the last while? There was quite an attack the same day of the Boston Marathon bombing.

sunnis, shia, moderates, fundamentalists, sharia law, pragmatic muslims. Ah what a wonderful, well adjusted cohesive gaggle we have in this wonderful dogma of the islam family.

please ......................... keep the fighting going. Just keep changing the leaders in this pathetic merry-go-round of countries in the ME. Who knows, maybe they will keep themselves busy and not interfere with the west and allow us to get on with enjoying life, improving our technology and living life for life's sake so we can experience more and more new and wonderful things.

so yes, please, just keep the infighting going, enjoy your pathetic, futile wars, but just keep them over there and don't spread your disgusting culture further afield. Hey! that's it! It's the culture that I have been trying to pin down. some people are really nice, but it's the culture that is causing so much pain and anguish. wow, after all this time, yes! please keep this cancerous culture over in the ME

They might have 3 states: Kurdistan, Shiite Iraq and Sunni Iraq and instead of having to contend with one, Israel might have to fight with 3, wow, those Zionists must be really dumb to think that fighting against 3 are better than 1.

Saladin 2.0 might just be around the corner...
