Nixon's Apollo : Dress rehearsal. Part 3.

Richard Nixon's Secret Service codename was Searchlight and Pat's was Starlight.

May 22 1969: The actual Apollo 10 Dress Rehearsal
Thursday, Nixon has breakfast at 735am. It's normal business, phone calls and meetings.

Charlie Brown is separated from Snoopy for about 8 hours from May 22, 1969, 19:00:57 UTC to May 23, 1969, 03:11:02 UTC.The Apollo 10 dress rehearsal starts approximately 1500 local Washington time, and lasts about 8 hours, until 2311 local time, according to the clock.

Nixon met with a group of industrial leaders for 20 minutes including Fred Borch Pres. of General Electric, Russell De Young, Chairman of Goodyear; R.V. Hansberger, Pres. of Boise Cascade; Jack Horton, Pres. Southern California Edison; F.R. Kappel, Chairman of AT&T; Barry Leithead, Chairman of Peabody&Co; Albert Nickerson, Chairman of Mobil Oil and T.F. Patton, Chairman & Pres. of Republic Steel, between 445pm and 506pm local time.

Nixon met with Congressman George H. W. Bush from 510pm - 535pm local time.

May 23 1969
Charlie Brown and Snoopy are separated for the last time on Friday May 23, 1969, 05:13:36 UTC. The President attended a band concert in the White House Rose Garden. There was a Medal of Honor ceremony, the American Bar Association dropped by the Rose Garden, then a 30 minute helicopter ride back to Camp David where Nixon went to the "Bowling Alley" and allegedly bowled from 420pm to 6pm.

Nixon screened "A Man for All Seasons (1966)" Friday night at Camp David and according to Secret Service diaries he spent the night in the Camp David residence.

"A Man for All Seasons" (1966) is "The story of Thomas More, who stood up to King Henry VIII when the King rejected the Roman Catholic Church to obtain a divorce and remarriage." Having a small role in "Seasons" was Orson Welles, the hoaxer, of 1938 production of War of the Worlds.

May 24 1969
After 31 orbits, Apollo 10 finally departed the moon. Saturday morning Richard Nixon went to the "Bowling Alley" again for about one hour. Nixon returned from Camp David in the afternoon took a 2-hour boating trip with "C.G. Rebozo" on the presidential yacht, "Sequoia". An opportunity to use the satellite phone technology to coordinate with Howard Hughes.

May 25 1969
Sunday. Nixon and First Lady attend church services in the East Room of the White House. Nixon and First Lady visited African delegations at the Liberian Embassy.

May 26 1969
A very busy Monday for the President. Nixon swore in Donald Rumsfeld in the Rose Garden. Rumsfeld will be the 3rd Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity. Apollo 10 splashed down in the Pacific. May 26, 1969, 16:52:23 UTC (that's Tuesday, May 26, 1969 at 06:52 local Honolulu time)

About two hours after Charlie Brown splashdown The President took three minutes out of his busy day to speak to the crew of the Apollo 10 aboard the USS Princeton in the Pacific Ocean, from 243pm to 246pm, local time in Washington D.C. Later, in the evening he spent two hours with Henry Kissinger and attended the dinner for UK Conservative Party leader Edward Heath, from 805pm until 1050pm.

Nixon's Apollo: Howard Hughes, Astronaut

December 24th will be Howard Hughes' official 'corporate' birthday; it's the birthday you will see in all the encyclopedias and news articles, however,

Hughes claimed his birthday was Christmas Eve, but according to his baptismal records he was actually born on the more mundane date of September 24. Source www.nndb.com...

Robert Maheu, ex-FBI, ex-CIA, second in control of Hughes Nevada operations, once said in this 2004 interview that Howard wanted to be an astronaut. It's just an anecdote, for sure, but I believe that it will continue to bring back good dividends in the Nixon's Apollo theory.

Maheu said some of the aerospace industry had its roots in Hughes Aircraft Company and that in the 1960s Howard Hughes gave the directions and ran the show. He wanted to be an astronaut, Maheu said.

In the mid-1960s, when four-fifths of the world did not have the capability for instantaneous communications, a Hughes-built communications satellite went into space and became the first vehicle of its type to create the information delivery system that now is often taken for granted, Maheu said. Source www.lasvegassun.com...

This is the only quote I have ever found that indicates Howard Hughes wanted to be an astronaut. It may be right, it may be wrong, but I haven't seen anyone seriously question 'Iron Bob' Maheu's integrity, remember, this is the guy who also told the HSCA about his involvement in the poison-pill plot to kill Castro. Maheu would have been considered a hero by both Hughes and Richard Nixon.

I thought it would be fun to explore the idea that Howard Robard Hughes, Jr., as the surrogate astronaut for Apollo mission, the replacement astronaut, was the man who flew to the moon instead of the public astronauts, and perhaps more than once.

Before I do that I wanted to make sure to explain (and remind) that this is the ATS Skunk Works which allows and encourages a flagrant disrespect for the official narratives. The official narratives say that NASA sent 9 manned missions to the moon. The Nixon's Apollo theory includes Howard Hughes flying on one, some, or all of those manned Apollo lunar missions.

It seems like a long shot , I know yet, there are some compelling footnotes to the official Apollo narratives that include the timing of the Hughes seclusion (1957-1972), the Nixon comeback (1968), the Elvis comeback (1968), the use of satellite technologies for propaganda (Apollo missions 1968-1972 and the Elvis Aloha TV Special, 1973), Hughes special ability as a movie producer/test pilot, Nixon's special ability for forming teams and running clandestine projects, e.g. Operation 40 and Paperclip.

And I can tie this all together because Hughes and Nixon both wrote on yellow legal pads. The yellow legal pads are just a small, colorful anecdote that adds to the cohesiveness of the theory (fingers crossed!)

Hughes paid John Wayne $750,000 to star in "The Conqueror" (1956)". That production of that film has a backstory about radiation and cancer, there are a lot of sources, just google John Wayne Conqueror Cancer and you should find a heap of sources regarding this controversy.

Richard Nixon screened "The Conqueror" (1956)" on August 7, 1971.

The Conqueror, along with Ice Station Zebra,[6] is said to be one of the films Hughes watched endlessly during his last years.[7] Source en.wikipedia.org...(film)

The exterior scenes were shot on location near St. George, Utah, 137 miles (220 km) downwind of the United States government's Nevada National Security Site.

Hughes later shipped 60 tons of dirt back to Hollywood in order to match the Utah terrain and lend verisimilitude to studio re-shoots. Source en.wikipedia.org...(film)

The newspaper said that Apollo 12 brought back radioactive rocks. Howard Hughes could have got those rocks from the set of his movie, The Conqueror. Here are those radioactive moon rocks I was talking about...

Maybe it wasn't just dirt that was shipped back to Hollywood... perhaps it was dirt and rocks as well.

Another startling detail of the Apollo 12 mission is that mission Commander Pete Conrad took at least 3 Hasselblad cameras (7 total) to the moon BUT you will not find any candid images of Pete Conrad's face in any of those 2,000+ Hasselblad 70mm camera images. You will not find any candid images of Dick Gordon's greasy pompadour hair-do. Nor will you find any pictures of Alan Bean. Apollo 12 took thousands of 70mm pictures but none of each other, all the way to the moon and back. Remember, this is November of 1969. Richard Nixon is the president and Hughes is allegedly in seclusion at the Desert Inn....

Pete Conrad may have brought these radioactive rocks from Utah, the home of the Mormons, which also happens to be a good connection to the Mormon Mafia who surrounded and controlled Howard Hughes' life by drug abuse and neglect. All the way back to Hollywood, Romaine Street, Bill Gay and Nadine Henley, both Mormons.

The past 42 years has been spent covering up for Nixon's Apollo.

Nixon's Apollo: it reminds me of the labyrinth in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" Why did the NASA doctors eventually change Alan Shepard's diagnosis from labyrinthitis to Ménière's disease? Nixon's Apollo is like one small labyrinth for man, one giant labyrinthitis for all mankind.

Nixon's Apollo: Films you could see in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, June 19, 1970. The Deseret News. A 2-page spread of movie listings and entertainment offerings. Let's see what comes up in relationship to Nixon, Hughes or Apollo.

Here is the link to the google news archive for this issue so you can zoom in and look around.
news.google.com...

A. Filmland Gossip about a potential romantic hook up between Howard Hughes and Jackie Onassis. Totally baseless? Hughes has been connected to Onassis in the Gemstone files.

B. Airport (1970). Starring Burt Lancaster, one of Richard Nixon's favorite actors. Check out my thread on Executive Action Mark Lane and Executive Action (1973) Starring Burt Lancaster. www.abovetopsecret.com...

C. Sleeping Beauty. Possibly a reference to Hughes himself or the name of a secret project? Disney was in producing films with von Braun in the 1950's, so that could also be a back door connection to Apollo.

D. Paint Your Wagon (1969). Both Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood were Nixon's favorites and he screened Paint Your Wagon on January 24 1970 at Camp David.

E. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Screened by Nixon on May 19 of 1970 at Key Biscayne Florida. The word 'sundance' is seen again in reference to a summer theater in Provo.

F. The Moon is Blue. Reference to the hidden colors of the moon? Or a reference to the propaganda nature of Apollo images, many of which are not so subtle pornographic phallic symbols of male sexuality expressed though rocket and missile technology.

G. Marooned (1969). The timeframe of the Apollo 13 TV drama was back in April 11-17 of 1970. Gregory Peck is one of Nixon's favorites as was director John Sturges. This movie was in the theaters a lot in 1970. The entire plot of Marooned is an alternate script for Nixon's Apollo 13.

H. Godfather (1972) author Mario Puzo denies that he was paid $1,000,000 dollars by the mafia to write the book. Nixon screened it on April 21 1972 at Camp David. Hughes and Nixon are both godfathers in their own ways.

I. The Out-of-Towners (1970). Jack Lemmon. Nixon screened it July 25 1970 at San Clemente California.

J. The Cheyenne Social Club. Another pair of Nixon favorites, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda. Screened by Nixon on June 6 1971 at Camp David. The tagline for the movie is "They make their own laws at the Cheyenne Social Club." which resonates with the Nixonian self-apology of "When the President does it, that means it is not illegal."

K. Patton. Notoriously screened by Nixon three times, before, during and after his invasion of Cambodia.
April 4 1970 at the White House.
April 25 1970 at the White House.
June 12 1970 at Key Biscayne.

L. Anne of a Thousand Days (1969).

Henry VIII of England discards one wife, Katharine of Aragon, who has failed to produce a male heir, in favor of the young and beautiful Anne Boleyn.
The tagline for the film was "He was King. She was barely eighteen. And in their thousand days they played out the most passionate and shocking love story in history." I don't know how this movie fits into Nixon's Apollo but Nixon screened it TWICE, February/?? 1970 at Camp David and again March 25 1973 at Key Biscayne, so it's worth noting it.

Nixon's Apollo: Pete, pass the popcorn.

All you need to do is look at this graphic for a moment and just try to realize the scene!

It's December 20th, 1969.

The Apollo 12 crew (&and their wives) have been invited to watch a movie and spend the night at Tricky Dick's White House Palace Theatre. The place is packed and cozy... the booze is flowing... everyone is happy & cheerful.

Dim the lights.

The curtain parts and the big screen projector shows what movie? from any thousands of possible movies? But what did they watch? That old standby classic for a fun night at the movies, "Marooned" (1969).

The film was released less than four months after the Apollo 11 moon landing and was tied to the public fascination with the event. It won an Academy Award for Visual Effects. Source wikipedia

You really are obsessed with the man. Ok, I'll bite, it was Richard Milhous Nixon.

I'm not sure what you are suggesting here. US politics is not my strong suit. Are you perhaps implying that Nixon set up a fake program back in the 1950s, which JFK then inherited and must have known about when he made his famous pledge to go to the moon, and JFK never said a word about it? If I discovered a massive plot carried out by my main election rival then I think I might try to make some political capital out of it, don't you?

Anyway, back to Apollo. Let's apply some Jupiter logic.

Apollo 8 was obviously genuine, because it was before the evil genius Nixon took control. So we know that Apollo was capable of taking men to lunar orbit and bringing them back safely.

Apollo 9: what say you on Apollo 9? It launched on March 3, which is what, six weeks after N-day. Tricky. If it was fake, that's a heck of a quick turnaround. Six weeks to plan and carry out a fake version of a mission that had already been announced in detail. If it was genuine, then hey - as well as circumlunar flight being possible, the genuine LM and PLSS both work just as they should. It's almost starting to look like we could just actually go to the moon and save ourselves some bother!

Apollo 10: the dress rehearsal. Nixon and his eccentric pal Howard had almost four months to get this one off the ground (or should I say pretend to get it off the ground? Where did the rocket that blasted off in Florida actually go if not out to the moon?) Was this one a fake or not? I'm confused.

Apollo 11: definitely fake, according to you.

So at what point did the great switch happen? Please explain in detail how the timeline worked in your world, where Nixon was pulling the strings.

Let's focus first on what is happening around the time of the 1968 election, Nixon's '68 Comeback.

James Webb quits NASA before Apollo 8. Deputy administrator Thomas O. Paine takes over NASA. I consider this to be part of the "great switch". In my Nixon's Apollo theory, James Webb, who ran NASA from the Kennedy administration, he quits NASA because he is aware of the shortcomings of the Apollo program and he wanted to be "out of the picture" by the time Nixon took office.... which leaves Thomas O. Paine with several boxes and bags of volcano rocks.

There is hard evidence that concludes Nixon was operating/interfering with international affairs prior to his election on November 5, 1968. In taped phone conversations LBJ flatly accused Nixon of treason. Google "Nixon treason" and you will find out all about it. This fact about Nixon's treason exemplifies his will to power.

On November 6, 1968, Richard Nixon is the president-elect. When Apollo 8 launches on December 21, 1968, Richard Nixon is the president-elect. When the Apollo 11 crew is announced to the public on January 9, 1969, it was Richard Nixon's birthday. What it means is that Nixon was executing his political will power before he was inaugurated on January 20, 1969. With James Webb out of the picture.

The president-elect does not just sit around waiting for inauguration day.... he is automatically included in national security briefings, including lot's of one-on-one time with the incumbent president. The president-elect is planning (and executing) his administration from the very moment he wins the election.

That's why I think it's important to look at the Apollo moon landings in relation with Nixon's '68 Comeback. That's why I am including Apollo 8 in with the Nixon's Apollo timeline because it makes sense that Nixon would win the election and immediately proceeded to order the televised propaganda Bible readings from cis-lunar space on Christmas Eve... Frank Borman's Apollo 8.

Apollo 9 was a low earth orbit mission, my investigations so far have not turned up anything out of the ordinary with Apollo 9.

Apollo 10, even NASA refers to this mission as the "dress rehearsal".

Of course, "dress rehearsal" is a phrase most often heard in the context of theatre... so was Apollo 10 a theatrical production? When Apollo 10 performed 8 hours of "dress rehearsal" much of that time was spent on the far-side of the moon which means there was no contact with ground control, on the far-side of the moon, where they did the crucial maneuvers. It makes little sense to perform such critical maneuvers on the far-side, in total communications black out. Somehow, the "dress rehearsal" was a success even though ground control could not verify most of what happened.

Maybe they needed 40 minutes of total communications black out* (for each orbit) to perform the clandestine mission? What was the actual mission of Apollo 10? As a matter of fact, the NASA transcripts we have for Apollo 10 on the far-side of the moon are actually from tapes made on-board the module, they are not recordings of radio signals sent from the module to earth. The Apollo 10 transcripts rely on our faith in NASA.

My main issue with the Apollo 10 "dress rehearsal" is that they are doing all the crucial maneuvers when they are out of contact with the ground... to me that is a red flag for safety reasons.

You have a fair understanding of the overall theme of Nixon's Apollo. Most people still underestimate Nixon. It's too tempting to just say "Watergate. Done." when in fact Nixon was receiving fast promotions in the Navy during WWII, and he was quickly promoted by wealthy California interests to a seat in the US Congress in 1946. And wham bam, thank you man... Vice president of the United States by 1953.

A lot of people forget about Nixon's Vice-presidency under Eisenhower. When Ike had his heart attack and spent 9 months in Key West Florida watching cowboy westerns, Nixon was running the White House. People forget about that.

When Ike made his speech at the end of his term, the famous speech about the "military-industrial-complex"
Ike was warning us about Nixon and Hughes.

Nixon's Apollo: In Too Deep

There were not one, but two, Watergate break-ins.

On 20th March, 1972 Frederick LaRue and John Mitchell of the Nixon's re-election committee decided to plant electronic devices in O'Brien's Democratic campaign offices in an apartment block called Watergate.

17 June, 1972. Five burglars from a domestic espionage network working for the Commitee to Re-Elect the President are arrested inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Washington, D.C., Watergate office complex.

Nixon's in too deep. He needed an exit plan for Apollo and for Mary Jo and for Castro and Cambodia. Watergate will do. Send those loyal men (from the Bay of Pigs) to get caught red handed (they fumbled it on purpose) while Nixon is away vacationing in the Bahamas.

Where is Hughes? He is on also the run.

The Intercontinental Managua, Managua, Nicaragua, Feb. 1972 to March 1972, and Aug. 1972 to Dec. 1972. SOURCE BARTLETT AND STEELE 1979 PAGE 498.

ACCORDING TO RICHARD HANNAH WHO IS HOWARD HUGHES SPOKESMAN. RENTED TOP 2 FLOORS OF BAYSHORE INN. SEE ALSO The Milwaukee Sentinel - Mar 17, 1972

This is the time when both Hughes and Nixon realize that they needed to hit the eject button. Which they both did. Because they were both In Too Deep.

Hughes hit the eject button in November of 1970 with the help of the Mormon Mafia. 'Iron Bob' Maheu was out. Jean Peters was divorcing Howard. Everything was going tits up. The Nevada Gaming Commission wanted to see Hughes live, in person.

They were calling Howard's bluff...

Then by January of 1972, there is serious doubt that Howard Hughes even was alive. There was the David Irving controversy that tried to expose the Howard Hughes hoax, but that ruse was revealed as a hoax. The fascination with Hughes grew so much to the point where Howard Hughes felt compelled to conduct a remote interview from the Bahamas recorded on January 7, 1972, a Friday. It was broadcast on television to American audiences on Sunday night January 9, 1972, it was Richard Nixon's birthday.

Birthdays play a significant role in the understanding of the Nixon's-Apollo theory. I don't think these birthday "messages" are coincidental. (NASA also publicly announced the Apollo 11 crew on Richard Nixon's birthday January 9, 1969).

There is a relationship between Nixon & Hughes during the Apollo era. Many of these relationships invite us to ask questions about them. When I scratched the surface of these relationships they begin to elicit an alternative narrative of space history. If the subtext of Kennedy's Apollo is to beat the Commies to the moon, then, the best two men I can think of who could accomplish that mission would be Richard Nixon and Howard Hughes, arguably the two most powerful men in the world (probably) from November 1968-December 1972.

That's why Nixon appointed a Hughes scientist James Fletcher to the position of NASA administrator (1971-1977) to usher in the new era of low earth orbit space shuttle flights which would dominate NASA's manned space efforts for the next 42 years. Wernher von Braun had plans for Mars by the 1980's. But he got cancer and died. And every US president since Richard Nixon has had to side step the lunar mission conundrum. Yoday NASA has Keep Out Zones on the moon, because they are In Too Deep.

One of Howard Hughes' goals in life was to be the best golfer in the world. He used to film himself at golf practices using slow motion... in the late 1920's... to study his swing.

Because Hughes was an obsessive compulsive and a perfectionist in everything he did, and Hughes was also a rabid anti-communist with 'delicate' financial relations to Richard Nixon, a new narrative of American political history begins to emerge.

Sputnik came at a time when American leadership was fluctuating, Launch date: October 4, 1957. Ike had already been inaugurated for his second term in office, with the scratchy bearded VP Richard Nixon tethered behind him.

Eisenhower opened 1957 with his new middle east doctrine,

In a special message to Congress, Eisenhower proclaims the sovereignty of the Middle Eastern nations and that the United States will ensure that force will not be used for any aggressive purpose in the world. The President seeks congressional authorization to employ the military in the Middle East to uphold this new policy.
This transcript contains the published text of the speech, not the actual words spoken. There may be some differences between the transcript and the audio/video content. Source millercenter.org...

Among other things 1957 Ike's health was diminishing and those dirty Reds were launching satellites.

Dwight David Eisenhower
1953 - 1961
Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, endured three major medical crises during his two terms in office. He suffered a heart attack in September 1955, underwent surgery for Crohn's disease in June 1956, and suffered a mild stroke in November 1957.

Richard Nixon would pick up the slack while Ike was out recovering from his ailments. Nixon's rise to power was not a mistake. That # was planned and executed by none other than Howard Hughes.

1957 is also the same year that Howard Hughes dumped his long time second in command, Noah Dietrich. 1957 is the same year that Howard Hughes picked up Robert Mahue as a new second in command for Nevada operations. 1957 is the same year that Howard Hughes married Jean Peters. Although Hughes had been extremely elusive from the 1948-1957 time period, after 1957 he truly becomes a phantom.

Let's fast forward to March 4, 1973. Richard Nixon is at Camp David screening "Viva Zapata" (1952)" starring Marlon Brando and Jean Peters. www.imdb.com...

Nixon, the film buff, is going to know that Jean Peters was married to Howard Hughes from 1957-1971 until when they divorced, it was a very unusual marriage. Jean Peters even testified that she had not seen Howard since 1966.

During her marriage, which lasted from 1957 to 1971, Peters retired from acting and social events in Hollywood. According to a 1969 article, she went through life unrecognized, despite being protected by Hughes' security officers all day.

Both Hughes and Nixon abandoned ship when they realized they were in too deep.

I got this great question from Rob48 in a another thread. It involves a simple what if question. How would Humphrey's win in 1968 affect the Nixon Apollo narratives. I have to admit that I am not a big Humphrey expert.

originally posted by: Rob48
Which brings me to a question that intrigues me. Let's say, for the sake of debate, that Nixon had lost the 1968 election. If Hubert Humphrey was president in 1969, then how would Apollo have panned out, in your view? Let's not forget, the programme was already in full swing when Nixon was elected. So if Nixon's presidency was so key to the "Apollo hoax", what would they have done if he had lost?

Humphrey had Hughes money in his pocket for the 1968 campaign, just as Nixon did. Hughes was interested in funding both sides of the election so that no matter who won on November 5, Hughes will have favors to call on the next president.

In Nixon's case, we now know that those favors to Hughes included approval of illegal corporate mergers, e.g. Hughes Airwest; special access to Nixon White House via Maheu and Rebozo; these favors extend way back to the 1950's, e.g., the Hughes $205,000 loan to Nixon brother Donald, for the Nixonburger restaurants. We also know how Nixon set up his cabinet and appointees to facilitate the propaganda of "Apollo", most blatantly, selecting network TV exec Frank Shakespeare to head the USIA... it would be Shakespeare's job to plan the world-wide tours for astronauts ... celebrating the American conquest of the moon, giving away moon rocks to third world puppet dictators, and showing Apollo films en masse to poorly educated people in every poor country across the planet. That's good coverage! Humphrey might choose someone else or he might choose Frank Shakespeare. I don't know. We are dealing with "what-if's".

If Humphrey wins, he's still got debts and favors to pay back to Hughes. Bob Maheu, Hughes #2 man in Nevada, will still be in Las Vegas negotiating between Hughes and Humphrey's White House, "Iron Bob Maheu" was his nickname (IBM for short) and he's a tough negotiator, ex-CIA, ex-FBI, involved in the poison pill plot to kill Castro and "IBM" doesn't take no for an answer.

If Humphrey wins he is going to select a democratic cast of characters for his cabinet & appointees, it means that the entire decade of the 1960's would have been democratic presidencies. Humphrey would have been under extreme scrutiny, more so than Nixon, since Humphrey, if he had won 1968, would be seen as a continuation of the Johnson administration and that would likely cause Humphrey's administration to be saddled with a lot of very heavy baggage.

IF Humphrey wins in 1968, the Apollo timelines would be different, he might have selected different astronauts for the missions. Humphrey I view as being more timid, less adventurous, than Nixon and Humphrey might have decided after the Apollo 13 accident that NASA would stop the project right there April 1970.

In my view, Humphrey's first term would be 1) still under Howard Hughes scrutiny and influence 2) way too over burdened with the mistakes of the Johnson administration (not the glories!) with the perfect example being Gulf of Tonkin leading to the mock war in S.E. Asia 3) Humphrey would know (via Johnson) that Nixon would continue to remain a threat behind the scenes even if Nixon lost 1968.

Nixon losing in 1968 I think that he would still remain "on the scene" so to speak, paying back his debts to Howard Hughes, one way or another. Humphrey's first term ends up a failure, with Nixon's help, so then it's looking like Nixon vs Kennedy in 1972? We know that's never gonna happen! One of them would end up assassinated for sure!

In my view, that's why Nixon tried to take out Teddy so early. July 1969. The 18th of July 1969 to be exact. The assassination attempt at Chappaquiddick just happens to occur on the same weekend that Neil and Buzz are landing on the moon. That's the weekend some American gangsters were settling some old scores. Teddy got the message. Obviously there many different views on this subject and this is only my view.

Let's not forget, the programme was already in full swing when Nixon was elected.

Full swing? not quite. Apollo did not get out of low earth orbit until 7 weeks after the 1968 election was decided. James Webb, NASA administrator is also quitting his long term post during this time bringing in the GE man Thomas O. Paine.

The timing of Apollo 8 TV Genesis bible reading broadcast to America on Christmas eve, it was not insignificant event, because it occurs coincidentally with the Howard Hughes corporate birthday, December 24th. No matter who wins 1968 the Apollo 8 TV capsule will orbit the moon around about Howard Hughes birthday, which it did... according to NASA sources.

A Question from another thread:

originally posted by: choos
nice glittering generality and transfer to answer my question regarding your theory.....

now what happened to the apollo program when Nixon was neither vice president nor president??

Quick answer: Ike and Dick spent 8 years whipping up an anti-communist frenzy 1952-1961. Nazi von Braun sold the Saturn rockets to JFK. Johnson's NASA budgets paid for the Nazi rockets. Nixon makes come back in 1968, collects all the prestige (on behalf of USA). Nixon cancells Apollo.

Longer answer: By the time Nixon left office in Jan 61 he was the most powerful VP the USA had ever seen up to that point. There is no disputing that. Nixon really expected 1960 was his, he deserved it, the Republican party knew it.

Things went wrong when 1960 slipped through Nixon's hands. JFK's win in 1960 was heavy blow to both Nixon (California) and Johnson (Texas). Nixon is kicked out of office, Johnson is diminished from a leading Senator to being Jack's Veep. Neither one of them are happy about it.

I mention the two states because they are military industrial strongholds. In 1960, Howard Hughes operations are divided between Houston, TX and Culver City, CA. Hughes has not fully established in Las Vegas, yet.

1961-1969, Nixon does not need to be the "hands on" producer for Apollo. He's a former VP, he doesn't get his hands dirty with the Apollo rocket sales. JFK and LBJ will buy the program from von Braun, then market it to the American public, build it up in the media for 8 years, weekly magazine covers, movies, tv, space race madness in the newspapers. It's a very long and steady, purposeful domestic propaganda that fulfills a purpose for the military industrial complex.

1961-1969, Nixon, even out of office, he is the #1 Republican in the country. When Nixon stated to the press ".. you won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more.." after losing the CA governor's election in 1962 it was a bluff.

With being out of the spotlight, so to speak, Nixon is able to carry out his most devastating operations designed to shake the ground under JFK's feet.... namely, Cuba. With the help of Eisenhower's CIA director Allen Dulles. Operation 40. There are some mafia connections here to Robert Mahue, the front man for Hughes.

See? When Nixon leaves office, the [color]Red Paranoia does not stop... the intensity only increases. The rabid anti-Communists, military industrialists (including Howard Hughes) demanded immediate action. Soviets are making all the space propaganda and America has fallen behind. JFK had to go!

Then Dallas 1963. Then Gulf of Tonkin 1964. Two Nixon goals have been achieved : JFK is dead and there is a hot war building up in South East Asia.

1964, Nixon's not ready for the come back, yet. Why not? Because the Saturn rockets aren't ready yet. Johnson's job is to continue building the rockets and to continue digging graves in Viet Nam. Nixon would let some other Republicans fight amongst each other up for the 1964 nomination... keeping his hands clean with regard to Apollo and Viet Nam... quite the poker player... he knows when to play, when to fold, when to bluff.

1966, well, Nixon Was The Architect Of The GOP's 1966 Recovery
blog.nixonfoundation.org...

1966 is also the year Howard Hughes moved to Las Vegas, buying up 4 casino's, that enabled a reliable money laundering system for pay-off's and special projects... like Apollo.

1966-1968 is also the year Howard Hughes Surveyor program is winning some victories for American propaganda. Surveyor 7 did land on the moon and it was Richard Nixon's birthday.

There is a historical myth floating around called "Nixon's wilderness years" however he's not really in the wilderness at all, he's just behind the scenes, behind the curtains and under neath the floor boards. He's waiting patiently for his starring role as president of the United States in 1968. Hughes bought that presidency by funding both Nixon and Humphrey.

January 14, 1956

Just take a look at this amazing old newspaper and how these news articles were laid out on the front page of the St. Petersburg Times. Here we have satellites and Howard Hughes in Florida all connected. Down in the corner there is also a mention about "manned space flight" and this was early 1956, it was an election year.

That's not all. Down on the left is Sen. Humphrey's attack on Secretary of State Dulles, calling the remarks of the secretary "a distortion of history."

Here we have Richard Nixon almost two years later, embarrassed by Sputnik and barking about missiles.

Richard Nixon in his childhood was a barker for the "Slippery Gulch Rodeo"... well, here's the relevant excerpts from Earl Mazo's Richard Nixon A political and personal portrait (1960),

A season as a janitor at a public swimming pool was more pleasant, as were two stints of three weeks each as barker for the wheel of chance at the "Slippery Gulch Rodeo" in Prescott, Arizona. Nixon barked for the legal front of the concession, where the prizes were hams and sides of bacon, which was a "come on" for a back room featuring poker and dice. Pay was based on total concession earnings, front and back. Nixon earned $1 an hour the first year, quite a windfall for a 14-year old. The next was a depression year and his pay fell to 50 cents. Source Earl Mazo's Richard Nixon A political and personal portrait (1960) page 22

Looking for more excitement, Nixon volunteered for sea duty and reported to Commander Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet where he was assigned as Officer in Charge of the South Pacific Combat Air Transport Command at Guadalcanal in the Solomons and later at Green Island. His unit prepared manifests and flight plans for C-47 operations and supervised the loading and unloading of the cargo aircraft. Source www.history.navy.mil...

Here is Nixon quoted by Mazo on page 38,

"I played bridge in law school for the first and last time," he said, "I never knew what poker was until I joined the Navy." Source Mazo on page 38

What did Mazo attempt to do by mentioning poker on page 22 and again Nixon's flat out poker denial on page 38? Was Mazo's deliberate poker play a direct cross-examination of Nixon's gambling problem? Did Nixon's early exposure to gambling drive him to distort his own historical narratives when he edited the f**k out of his own White House tapes? Was Hubert Humphrey being entirely serious when he accused the secretary of state for "a distortion of history"?

Side note: As of January 14, 1956, Howard Hughes had not been seen in public for some 4 years.... it seems that he got lost in the Slippery Gulch of History when he tried to cover up his legacy by going publicly "insane". What was Hughes really up to at the pre-dawn of the Space Race on January 14, 1956? Could this be the inception date for Nixon's Apollo? I think I've found it.

On January 12, 1957, Hughes married actress Jean Peters. The couple met in the 1940s, before Peters became a film actress. They had a highly publicized romance in 1947 and there was talk of marriage, but she said she could not combine it with her career. Some later claimed that Peters was "the only woman [Hughes] ever loved", and he reportedly had his security officers follow her everywhere even when they were not in a relationship. Such reports were confirmed by actor Max Showalter, who became a close friend of Peters while shooting Niagara (1953). Showalter told in an interview that because he frequently met with Peters, Hughes' men threatened to ruin his career if he did not leave her alone.

Howard Hughes: Personal Life

Maybe he was trying to get closer to Jean Peters as that is almost a year to the day you mentioned.

That's a good catch on the date of the Hughes/Peters marriage. Here is a news clip to go with it that mentions the marriage was in secret... typical Howard Hughes.

A link to my Howard Hughes conspiracy-biography thread if anyone else is interested in the subject.

~~~
I recall in some of the HH source material (it was suggested) that Hughes was looking for a special kind of marriage partner because he needed a legal spouse that would resist a mutiny/takeover of his companies. Hughes was paranoid that his corporate officers would mutiny against him by attacking his mental state, business plans, etc. He paid his executives very well but there was always the chance that some of them would go rogue... like Ramo and Woolridge did when they left Hughes Aircraft in 1953 to do work that furthered the development of ICBM technologies...
But did TRW en.wikipedia.org... really go rogue because they were disgusted with HH management style? Or did they legally separate from the Hughes organization to avoid the (what would be seen as) obvious connections between Howard Hughes and the American Space Race?
The St. Petersburg Times Jan 14, 1956 helps to solidify the Nixon's Apollo theory by nature of the following things: Nixon is the VP, the satellite launch site in Florida was selected; the Hughes advance men are on location, in Florida, working on then Gov. LeRoy Collins;
Howard Hughes and his H.A.L.O.
Robert Maheu interview revealing the true name of the Surveyor was H.A.L.O.
www.knpr.org...
Dave Scott recently delivered the Masursky Lecture (April 2014). Scott says manned missions to Mars are "many many generations away".
It is notable for Apollo Reviewers because Dave Scott uses the "400,000 fallacy" early on in the lecture. What I found interesting was Scott's proposal for return moon missions, "Optimum Apollo" with a lunar module called a "HALO".
Apollo Reviewers might also pay attention near the end for the Q&A. There was a question from a deep voiced Smithsonian about communications on the far side. Scott answered that there was not need for constant communications on the far side. Scott explained the Apollo "T cubed" training philosophy of "Train 'em, Trust 'em, and Turn 'em loose."
It reminds me of the plot to that movie... it was called "The Dirty Dozen" (1967)
Dave Scott has suggested 4 sites on the moon - one of them being Hadley Rille. Hadley Rille? Reaaaallllly?? Did he leave something important behind?
Sound track liner notes for Nixon's Apollo.
The songs on the sound track are all Elvis Presley. They have been specially selected to fit neatly into this sound track to accompany the reader during the long journey of this thread, our main theory, Nixon's Apollo and the supporting timeline of Nixon's Apollo available over here. You will have to assemble your own sound track at this time. All the songs are generally available on youtube. www.tiki-toki.com...!date=1990-11-28_20:26:19!
1. Introduction: Also Sprach Zarathustra
The popular main theme from Stanley Kubrick's 2001:A Space Odyssey. Elvis Presley famously used this theme to open his Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite concert. en.wikipedia.org...
2. Howard's Theme. The Impossible Dream.
The song is from the perspective of Howard Hughes, his dream to beat the Commies to the moon and himself as the first American space test pilot (astronaut) to leave Earth orbit. "To be willing to march into hell for the heavenly cause." The "heavenly cause" was the rabid, fervent anti Communism, wildly popular in those days. Richard Nixon loved the idea in 1957.
"And the world will be better for this - that one man scorned and covered in scars - still strove with his last ounce of courage - to reach the unreachable star."
Hughes, the consummate test pilot, is the "one man scorned and covered in scars" from the several very serious air accidents he was involved in during his lifetime, most notably the Sikorsky crash in Lake Mead (May 1943) and the XF11 crash in Beverly Hills (July 1946).
en.wikipedia.org...
en.wikipedia.org...
3. Wernher Dreams. The Edge of Reality.
Former Nazi Wernher "dark shadows follow me" von Braun. "If she's not real then I'm condemned to the edge of reality" refers to his plans for space exploration which he pursued after he left Germany in the hands of American intelligence. In the 1950's Walt Disney helped von Braun pursue this dream by producing the 1955 movie en.wikipedia.org... . von Braun was "drove to the point of madness, the brink of misery" when NASA cancelled his Martian plans, even though, this was the only man on the planet who had a working heavy lift rocket design. Rockets which he had peddled to Hitler, Truman, Ike, Kennedy, LBJ and Nixon. Overpowering fears.
4. Dicks' Destiny. It's Carnival Time / Carny Town.
Both of these selections are from the movie "Roustabout" (1964) en.wikipedia.org...(film) Little Richard Nixon was a carnival barker enticing crowds to come into the tent to see the show. "There's a big show on the inside." Yes there was a show but there was also some gambling (and poker) and Little Dick would entice everyone "If you've got doubts quit your doubting", "Be a big shot, for a dollar!"
"Hurry, hurry, step this way!" Carny Town is where Nixon learned how to play poker like a pro and gamble with the bigger boys.
"A man so skinny you can see his bones" is a reference to the mythology of Hughes poor health.
Sound track liner notes for Nixon's Apollo. part 2.
5. Nixon's Apollo Main Theme Suspicious Minds.
A huge influence on the present theory is this Elvis song which he recorded just two days after Nixon's inauguration. The version being used on the soundtrack includes the moment where Elvis sings the part "Let's don't' let a good thing die , No honey, I'll never, never lie to you. No, not much, yeah, yeah." Some versions don't have that exact same section.
""Suspicious Minds" was a product of January 23, 1969 session, that took place between 4 am and 7 am." en.wikipedia.org...
"The song is about a mistrusting and dysfunctional relationship, and the need of the characters to overcome their issues in order to maintain it.[1] Written by Mark James in 1968"
"We're caught in a trap, I can't walk out, because I love you too much baby." refers to the long financial/political dysfunctional relationship between Hughes & Nixon, as "a trap". It may also be a "trap" in the sense that Apollo 8 (which Nixon quickly capitalized on) got Nixon hooked on the moon missions (as propaganda) he had no choice but to follow along with Hughes idea for another "dress rehearsal" with the Apollo 10. Shortly after, the two moon landings (Apollo 11, 12). The heroic final episode was Apollo 13, the "Marooned" episode, should have been the final film in the series, April 1970.
(Side note: In April 1970, Apollo 13 had failed, Nixon announced his invasion of Cambodia on live Tv to distract the public from the failure. The anti war movement hits a new stride. There was sadness at Kent State. Even Nixon tried to push the story about the Kent Statte "sniper", he wanted his people to get that story out in the papers. The problem was, it was bulloney. There never was a "sniper". Nixon sensed that there was time for more moon landings in his first term. Nixon makes the decision to keep Apollo 14, 15, 16 and 17 to be used as propaganda distraction during his entire first term.)
Six months later, Howard Hughes packed secretly left the Desert Inn and there was a major shift in Nevada operations, Bob Maheu's employment was terminated by Hughes. After some shake ups, the Apollo program moved forward, with new NASA administrator and former Hughes scientist, James Fletcher, a Mormon, and it's probably just a coincidence that the people who moved in to surround Hughes were nick named the Mormon Mafia.
Memos between Maheu and Hughes during this time also suggest a dysfunctional relationship. Remember, that Maheu had been with Hughes since 1957, he became the chief of Nevada Operations for Hughes when hughes moved to Las Vegas in 1966. Maheu ran the money-laundering Las Vegas casinos that allowed Hughes to buy anything, everything, including people, companies, executives, astronauts, network news anchors, e v e r y t h i n g, "unlimited expense account".
Speaking of trust in relationships, some sources say that Howard Hughes found Mormons, in general, to be trust worthy people because they did not smoke or drink or take drugs and they were discreet. (This should not be construed a personal attack on Mormons. - SJ).
6. Intermission. Promised Land.
This one is fairly interesting. Elvis sings about a multi-hop journey across the United States. It begins in Norfolk, Virginia (think US Navy shipyards, NASA Langley research center and CIA HQ.) Then it proceeds westward… here are the locations mentioned in the song.
a. "Norfolk" Virginia
b. "Raleigh" and "Caroline" in North Carolina
c. "Half way across Alabam" possible reference to Huntsville, home of the Wernher von Braun rocket group.
d. "Downtown Birmingham", located south of Huntsville
e. "riden' across Mississippi clean" means no stops in Mississippi.
f. "New Orleans", and "Louisiana"
g. "Houston town", location of the Manned Spacecraft Center, now named for LBJ
h. "Albuquerque", located nearby is White Sands missile test range and Alamogordo.
i. "The Golden state", is California
j. "Los Angeles", means Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Culver City, Hughes Aircraft, Whittier (Richard Nixon's home town growing up.)
k. Tidewater Four Ten 0 Nine = 41009. This is a reference to a telephone number in "Tidewater" Virginia and that is the format for old USA telephone numbers. A person making a call would pick up the phone and ask the operator to connect to "Tidewater # # # #". The operator would use patch cords to connect the long distance line and ring the telephone at the other end. Sort of like that.
7. Russian Space Overture. Fools Rush In.
A play on words, "russian" and "rush in". The Soviets are content to let the American "fools" Hughes & Nixon "rush in" to claim the moon landings with the American satellite Tv propaganda. Soviet's actually had all the means to perform a lunar orbit mission to beat Apollo 8 in late 1968. They had the Zond / Proton system. They were boasting about it in the news papers. Soviet Russia at the time was mightily distracted by the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, also late 1968.
Meanwhile, the Soviet's have not been higher than 475km and they made that altitude way way back in March 1965.
For some reason, the Russians did not "rush in" to the Van Allen belts and they have stayed in low earth orbit for 49 years.-- the American's did rush in to the Van Allen belts. "So open up your heart and let this fool rush in". "This fool" being Richard Nixon.
The song itself is a vocal standard from 1940. en.wikipedia.org...(Where_Angels_Fear_to_Tread)
8. Howard's Plot Twist. It's Your Baby, You Rock It.
Another play on words, "you rock it" is "Your rocket". The theme of dysfunctional relationships continues.
After the Apollo 13 "Marooned" mission Howard Hughes goes on permanent hiatus persona incognito. He leaves Las Vegas and retreats to the Bahamas. He tried to tell Nixon "it's your baby, you rock it" with the Apollo films. Nixon came running back to Hughes "crying on my should like a baby" for help producing the final Apollo missions in the first term of office, the missions which would solidify the United States as world leader and Richard Nixon as the Conqueror. This will be very valuable to Nixon during his negotiations with China and Russia.
Hughes is "tired of hearing about it friend - it's your baby, you rock it." Ultimately, Hughes could not resist the allure of smashing the Commies again with Apollo 14 and again 15, 16 and 17. The "lady" is Apollo and the "baby" is the evidence, moon rocks, negatives, etc.
Sound track liner notes for Nixon's Apollo. part 3.
9. NASA Romance Theme. Welcome to my World.
NASA is welcoming you to their world.
The Hughes / Nixon partnership continues during the first Nixon term in office. "Won't you come on in." The gambling obsession continues. "Miracles I guess, still happen now and then." Nixon's Apollo continues. "Step into my heart." NASA welcomes you to their world, "built with you in mind." The "world" is actually a casino. The "door" and the "key" refer to Nixon, the gambler, having access to Hughes, NASA and the romantic, heroic moon landings. "Seek and you will find."
10. Iron Bob's Scene. If You Talk In Your Sleep.
"If you talk in your sleep don't mention my name. If you walk in your sleep, forget where you came."
Iron Bob once let it out that Howard Hughes wanted to be an astronaut. Maheu has an incredible back ground in US intelligence, WW2 intelligence, FBI, CIA, closely involved in mafia heavy hitters and poison pill plots to kill Fidel Castro, Iron Bob is himself, a formidable decision maker and trouble shooter in the Howard Hughes/ Nixon's Apollo theme world.
"I know you're a lonely woman and I love you;
Someone else is waiting and he owns you"
The one "waiting" is Hughes and the "he owns you" could be a reference to Jean Peters, Howard's second or third wife, the marriage which lasted from 1957 ending in divorce 1971.
11. Astronaut's Lament. You Gave Me A Mountain.
"Born in the heat of the desert" is a reference to the Nevada desert where astronauts trained for Apollo. The "mountain that I may never climb" refers to Mount Hadley which features prominently in so many of the Apollo 15 Hasselblad images.
"Born in the heat of the desert" is also a reference to the White Sands Missile test range in Alamogordo New Mexico where von Braun's rocket group tested V-2's in the early days of the Army Ballistic Missile program, site of the first atomic explosion Trinity Test site, so, in a way, "in the heat of the desert" could also mean a reference to nuclear weapons research.
The loyal, patriotic Apollo astronauts were selected on the basis of patriotism first, a strict requirement stipulated by Howard Hughes. They trained to perform the scripted missions but also to accept any mission orders given to them. After lift off, while in low earth orbit, the astronauts received new orders from Hughes via satellite. They were informed that the mission plan was scrubbed and to sit in orbit for a few days.
The astronauts realized that they have been picked for their patriotism and obedience to authority; they realize that the only choice is to follow orders. Automatic machines built by Hughes would land on the moon, collect the rocks and bring them to low earth orbit, where the astronauts would collect them to bring to earth. Beating the Russians in Tv propaganda was a matter of national security. The astronauts would obey the orders. And those orders were the "mountain" in "You gave me a mountain."
Sound track liner notes for Nixon's Apollo. part 4.
12. Howard's Big Hollywood Ending. It's Over. Hughes and Nixon are in too deep with Apollo and the associated cover operations. Hughes leaves Las Vegas in November 1970 spending the next several years on the run. "So I turn my back, turn my collar to the wind"
13. Dick's Las Vegas Ending. Big Boss Man. Nixon is calling his "Big Boss Man" Howard Hughes pleading for help with the Apollo 14-17 productions. Howard isn't returning his calls. HRH was a towering "Boss Man", at 6 foot 4 inches.
14. Howard Hughes Final Studio Cut - End Theme - Make The World Go Away. Nixon needed more missions to win the 1972 re-election campaign, which immediately factors into the reasons for Watergate and the cancellation of Apollo. Hughes memo's often reflected his persistent romantic melancholia in the vocabulary that he used. Hughes is by the end of Nixon's Apollo a drug user, Now , tired ,, physically and mentally broken up after his secret moon flights, 1966-1970. His life from 1970-1976 became his escape plan. Hughes wants to "get the world off my shoulders." a world of space secrets and espionage thrills, anti Commie witch hunts, Elvis comebacks and satellite Tv specials, he wants to make it all go away..
