Please attempt to really take the test and apply. Try and see how much time you spend taking the test. Let me know if you feel discrimination after you take the test. Follow up with whatever score you apply to work at. Ask them if you passed and if any caution sign comes up- you are not suppose to know about the caution sign.

I am out looking for a second job. I need the hours from 4 am until 12pm. I have to be at my other job by 3pm-9pm each day. My current job is great, but my hours vary from week to week. I am working as a CNA-Home Health Care. I love the work, and I am making decent money, but I may have work one week and not the next. Local Rest Homes are not hiring right now within my driving distance. I have put in 100 on-line applications in a 2 week period.

I am needing a regular job that I can depend on to feel secure that I can pay my rent for the Government Housing I have applied for. I will not be able to get housing for me and my 18 year old child for about 1 month. We do not have our own home. He is staying at Grandma's and Im at Grandpa's I am desperate or I would not even fool with this company.

I am getting ready to take the test for the 3rd time. I have made a 93, 83 and who knows on my 3rd try. The problem is a caution flag comes up even though I have passed the test to flip burgers. The Manager wants to hire me but cannot because of the caution flag- even though I scored over an 80. She wants me to re-take the test and come by there on my way to work. She does not even know what the caution flag is for other than they cannot hire with this showing up. I have a Clear Background so what could this be. I have never worked there before. My Credit History is low-score but I cannot help that, and would a fast food place care about a credit history enough to not hire. I am talking about a 8.00/hr job.

I am going off line to take the test again- I really need this job or I would just forget about this issue. I will come back on when I am through. Please go through the application and tell me what I am doing wrong. From what I have gathered- this test was created by peopleanswers.com some-kind of out sourced testing agency??

Probably the "caution" question or questions indicate that a person may steal. Or may, goddess forbid, eat one of their burgers. These type of questions usually are very hidden in questions which have nothing to do with stealing (or eating burgers). You should take a cell phone and photograph the test and the questions, so we can pick them apart a little. Good luck on the test this time, and I hope you get the job!

Is there a link to take the test? Or do you have to go to the store itself? We don't have one in my town, but if its online I'll take the test.

Best wishes to you

I was a home resource specialist, store level, at a grocery store where I live. Such tests taken at the time of application are really pretty standard. When people answer the questions they way they think the company wants to see instead of being completely honest, the score shows it. For example, one question was "I have never stolen anything." When people say, "yes" they have never stolen anything, you get the question "wrong." Everybody has stolen something at sometime.

I looked back and saw my test? I did really well. It's one of the reasons I was chosen for this promotion.
We would not allow you to take the test over and over again until you get it right, though. That is not very good policy. It opens people up to hiring discrimination....if they allow you to do it, but didn't hire other peoples, they could be sued.

Answer the questions honestly. If the test was similar, it's best. It is always best, no matter the test.
We also gave a math test. You had to pass that before you could be trained as a cashier. But it didn't stop me from hiring people for other departments.

Answer all the "honesty" questions with a dishonest answer...if you tell the truth that sometimes it is ok and necessary to lie it might be generating the flag. Also see about work attendance questions.

If it's based around an MMPI type test they are going to ask you to rate from 1 -5 (strongly Agree - Strongly disagree with degrees and a noncommittal in the middle) various questions about honesty.

Honesty is always the best policy - well hell no it's not but they don't want to hear that.
Do you think there are times when "telling a little white lie" is OK.
Sometimes people have to tell a lie to protect the feelings of others.

And so on...

Always answer the most extreme answer in favor of honesty.

The questions may also contain various negative or even double negative structures to see if you are paying attention. A standard MMPI (computer admin version) will continue to generate questions almost infinitely if you are giving contradictory answers like sometimes you are answering the same question (worded differently of course) with diametrically opposing views.

Also, there may be some on taking things from work, supplies, coke refills etc in various differently worded forms of the same theme.

Always answer negative...

I think a flag can come up if your results are too inconsistent and or skewed it sees it as a deviation from the norm and can't score it correctly or has run out of possible question variables for the area of concentration in question.

If it is not timed just make some notes about all the integrity and honesty questions and see how many times they are asking the same thing in different ways. If you keep getting "fed" the same themes of questions you know you are giving contradictory or answers counter to the desired result.

Having had so many psych tests in the military for Special Operations I can make the test say whatever I want it to.

Only a true examination and interview (unstructured) with a doctor can give absolute results and even then if you know what they are looking for you can skew the results in your favor.

Do you have the name of the test or a description? Some psychological tests are only allowed to be administered by a licensed psychologist. Anything that would pick up on lying or a tendency toward theft would need to be standardized (be scrutinized for validity and reliability). The APA code of ethics might give you some clues on major ethical violations but more info is needed. If they are handing out MMPI-2's for example they are in trouble and a report needs to be made with an entirely different agency (doubt this but making a point). If its some undereducated manager who thought they found a cool one online to do their decision making for them then its a dept. of labor issue (if you choose to even bother). If its a corporate wide thing it's probably legal since they are pretty big but without test name and reason for test it's tough to speculate. Sounds like the later in here since manager wants to hire you.

Your post reminds me of the time Timothy Leary was arrested and convicted of something something. When they were determining what type of prison to send him to they gave him a test to see if he obeyed or distrusted "authority". The thing is, he designed the test!! So of course he answered in a way that he came across as subservient, they sent him to a lower security prison, and he escaped.

i would like to see proof that this is true. there is no way to possibly prove this.
it's just some psychological bs, that companies have picked up on, and are using statistics, which are fallible to show this.

It's corporate and based off of the MMPI but not binding in any way and there is no diagnosis resultant so it doesn't require a Doctor administer the test.

The military ones are the same thing - computer administered and if you get flagged for some reason you will get a real MMPI with a Dr.

They are not diagnosing anything they are simply looking for a discriminator to weed out some of the trash applicants.

These type corporations get 500 applications for every position in some cases while not ideal is is a way to thin the herd.

This was something I always found a little funny about the special operations community.

We'd take people, teach them to lie convincingly, manipulate any interview, resist interrogation methods then test them for "honesty and integrity" and give them psych evaluations. Not surprisingly many end up being diagnosed with "borderline anti-social personality disorder". Of course we are, we are the fringe of the military, we do the questionable things others won't/can't do and sleep well at night - we lie, we steal, we manipulate others as part of our jobs.

Kind of ironic. There is even a course for how to beat a polygraph, then once you go to the course they do what? Require a polygraph for the position...that requires the course.

:O.o:

Kind of silly actually.

Thanks- I wish someone would-Just to see if you would call discrimination or not?? Go through the en-tire process and apply somewhere local you can drive. You have to type in www.hardees.com/jobs it took me awhile to find the correct place to even apply. You run into so much out-source companies attempting to get you to go through them to apply at Hardees. It took me around an hour-hour/half to finish this non-sense!! Im disgusted but going by the store and find out if I passed. The manager wants to give me the job- The caution beside of my passing score on my 93-83-? the last one is the problem. I am passing in score but it is the un-know caution sign beside of score is where the problem is. The manager was not suppose to tell me about the caution sign-but cared enough to ask me to just take it again. I mean this is for a low paying job-come on?? I am disgusted and have to leave out for my Nursing Job at Lake Lure, NC. Im loving that but I just cant depend on the hours from week to week. NC is just a horrible state with no work...you even have to apply on-line for Waitress Jobs. Im the kind of person that is willing to work 16 hours a day so that me and my child can have our own home! This company just pisses me off. I feel just stupid and I know Im not. My GPA is 3.81 in college. I just need to know what I am doing wrong or just forget about it. I may file something with the Department of Labor-regarding Discrimination Issues in the Testing-let me know what you think??

Thanks for responding- If you take this test- you will have stupid questions that have nothing to do with the job. You will have to answer Strong Agree, Agree, Neutral etc...I answered allot more with Neutral this time- I was to the point of hell with the test period. I have to work from 3:00 pm until tommorw after 12:00pm..lots of hours in a beautiful place!! If i could have that everyday I wouldnt have to worry. PS Someone just called about another job interview Monday-10am..I hope for something I can depend on. Im not sure how much my Government Housing is going to cost yet? When they call I only have 5 working days to pay eveything up and move in. I am working all I can so I will have atleast 500 saved up..they told me it could take 1 month for something to come open.

That bold line must be the single outrageous and stupid Q & A that I've ever seen.

I'm actually surprised tests are being conducted in this way.

I have NEVER STOLEN ANYTHING IN MY LIFE, check my local police department's records, check with the Feds, check with CIA if you will, if you can't find anything on my that says I stole before, then I have never committed stealing as a crime.

Now, you wanna argue with me that I've STOLEN during my life time? How can you prove it? I said I've never ever stolen anything in my life, who are you to say otherwise?

By saying "Everybody has stolen something at sometime." is not only a severe generalization but at the same time, extremely discriminating.

So every single person, on this friggin' planet, has stolen something during their life time? Are you God? You must be since you're all knowing...

My point is, people shouldn't stand for this type of # and I'm surprised that there hasn't been enough people to gather together to fight the corporate giants for this BS.

Im passing in score- 93 first try, 83, second try- 3rd try- didnt have time to find out. Its a stupid test that has nothing to do with working in Fast Food. I have pounded the pavement and Struggled. I passed the US Customs and Border Patrol Test with an 86 back in 2003. I have past certifications in NCIC and DCI, NC-EMT and EMD and my GPA is 3.81. I am wanting to know what is up with being flagged? The manager thought by re-taking the test would get rid of flag. Or maybe its a flag indicating that I would not work there for long?? I went through 3 years of process to work for Homeland. I was attacked and taken en-route from Charleston, West Virginia. I had to return home to NC and have been working as a CNA-Nursing. I love my job!! My job is just not enough to support a single parent. Working Home Health Care is great, but it varies from week to week. Anyway, Im not going to worry about it.

I remember taking these tests for Taco John's.

I failed because it came out that I was Overly Optimistic.

They still hired me

I don't know how that could be a bad thing? Other than annoying people by being to upbeat...

This is crazy.. if they want to hire you they should be able to hire you. These tests are bs anyway... You might apply at one place where they ask if you've ever lied, and if you say no, they will say "ok they're an honest person so go ahead and hire them!" And you could apply somewhere else where the test THEY use would consider you DIShonest because everyone has lied!

I don't believe everyone has stolen something... But I do believe everyone of legal working age has lied before.

Is it really silly? If you flunk the polygraph then obviously you flunked the course.

What I took away from the OP's story, is that he graduated from college (I assume) with 3.81 and is struggling to get a job at Hardees.

Just who been waging class warfare on whom?

UH, wrong.
Can you say as a child you never took something from another child? Never lifted a piece of penny candy at the store? Never sampled a grape before purchase? Never mistakenly put a work pen in your pocket which you then took home? Never used the copy machine at work for a personal reason? Never claimed a $25 meal while on work travel, when you went to Taco Bell, just because you could? Never passed a Canadian coin to a cashier? Never took a 25 minute break when the company expects you to take only 15? Never used company computer time and access for looking at anything not work related? All are forms of stealing.
And all are human nature.
It's not psychobabble, it's fact.
And the working world wants truthful people to be employed by them more than they want people who are not able to be truthful. Saying " I have never stolen anything" is not truthful.
If you have never done any of the above or other similar acts, you are a rarity.
There is another glaring difference in this test and the one I administered, and one I should have noted on my previous answer. The one I had to use was a paper, self-carboning type. That meant a person gave the test, a person scored the test, and a person interpreted the test before hiring. If someone answered that question "wrong", oh well...they could still pass with no problem. It was a cumulative score, not question by question graded as you go by a computer program. The tests have obviously changed, as has the workplace.
But my answer is still the best. Always answer every question truthfully.
Anything less is dishonest. And nobody wants a dishonest person working for them.
