Let me get this straight

Smart enough to plot a bombing
Smart enough to hide out for days
Smart enough to pull it off with no intelligence detection prior

BUT

Not smart enough to plan a getaway
Not smart enough to have a the least a car
Not smart enough to steal a car without detection

Dumb enough to carjack someone so they can be identified
Dumb enough to give the police the description of the car by jacking it from people who can report it.

Yup. Totally makes sense. Adds up to me, time to move on.

Do they really think we are this effing stupid!! They are now going on and on about him being armed and dangerous. He is heavily armed in the suburbs. This is a public safety issue because he is armed to the teeth.


I mean seriously. They are setting up for another gun control push with this story right now!

Could it be possible they didn't think they would get away from the scene without being caught?

And when they saw there was a chance, they panicked and car-jacked as they couldn't think of what else they could do to get away quickly?

They probably thought they wouldn't be caught/ID'd so quick. They obviously aren't right in the head to begin with.
