We know this applies to real life as well, especially in politics. It's far more prevalent in politics, as HItler is the goto dictator to compare people to. He's frequently brought up when one side has nothing of value to say, so they throw his name in their to imply a likeness to Hitler and/or Nazism.
That argument is the last bastion of a political fool who wants to sound wise.

Democrat? Compare the Republicans to Hitler/Nazi's because of racism, war politics and others.
Republican? Compare the Democrats to Nazis because of socialism.
