I was just reading about this....

www.bbc.co.uk...
mars-one.com...

On the BBC website and I was just wondering how many ATS'ers would actually consider SERIOUSLY doing this......?

I would be in my 50's, (if I'm still around of course) so I probably wouldn't be ideal however I would be expendable at that age......!

Would you go...? And why...? Leave your social circle family etc....? What if you get Ill on route or turn into a 'nutter' when there.....?

There's a lot to consider....

Regards

I wouldn't, i have to say. I have heard the beaches and nightlife is rubbish!

Actually only part tongue in cheek there too. Mars is desolate wasteland, so whilst the idea is definitely something to dream of, the reality wouldn't be that great!

Now, if instead of Mars it was a habitable planet (as seems to be the popular parlance these days) then i would be more interested, even if i was over 100'000 years old by the time i got there!

I've seen to many Space Faring movies to know how that journey ends.... I'll keep my feet planted.

I wanted to go, but the wife said no...

I suppose if it wasn't for family, I would sign up in an instant.

I like your thinking but you have the wrong candidate. Surely it has to be "Bernard" under one of his many aliases? Send him back home........

Thought about that, I got a warning about having fun though.

So I will leave it up to another member.

You couldn't send Phage as he would point out the flaw in it.....

(and he would probably be right)

I'd only go if the base had some kind of interior greenhouse/park that I could go to, otherwise I'd go completely insane.

Imagine having cabin fever and not being able to go outside without a spacesuit, EVER?

I fear that someday, someone will decide they just can't take it anymore and walk out without the aid of a spacesuit.

Just think of the fun he would have, on top of being right.
