The Greatest Lie Ever Told...which is it for you ???

We've all been lied to.
If you like it or not, and anyonewho says they havn't...is well...not telling the truth.

From as a child a little white to get us to go to sleep (ok, we'll go to the park tommorow..now sleep), to father christmas and the tooth fairy etc etc.

Later on in life we have to swallow lies like -

The magic bullet theory
The Gulf of Tonkin incident
Pearl Harbour
The Bible / Religion
Yes, i'l still love you tommorow
9/11
The cheques in the post etc etc etc

The list is endless and for everyone it's different.

What i'd like to know from you is - For you what is the greatest, if not the worse lie forced upon or accepted by mankind and why..

The biggest Lie for me would be Santa Clause.

But in the Realm of conspiracies I would say 911 would be the greatest lie ever told, a close second would be Pearl Harbor (Ie. the reason for it being attacked)

The greatest lie ever told to humanity is that satan doesn't really exist.

kinda hard to tell...many of the worst lies have not been uncovered. But if I need to pick one that is known about...it would be legendary Bill Clinton swearing in front of cameras and God...that he DID NOT HAVE sexual relations with that woman.

Not that it's the worst lie ever told...but it's the most telling to me...since we have concrete TV proof...that officials, presidents, senators, will lie if they need to and that we are pretty naive trusting authority. They won't even blink twice before doing it.

And we keep on voting them in...by the truckloads.

No lie is forced upon mankind, so I really can't give an answer in regards to that. As for the biggest lie ever told to the masses:

I think , personally, it all depends when you where born.

For the boys born in the 40's who went to Vietnam, it must have felt such a betrayl to find out they went to war over something that never happened.

For us, it has to be the 9/11 - WMD fiasco.

For mankind as a whole, religion and god..more people have died in the name of religion than any other reason.

For me (even though it is not as popular as others one could name) it would be those who say the Holocaust never happened. Why? Because those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The Government wants what is best for me and my family comes in as a sickening second.

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

Anything that follows "Make no mistake"....

Fluoride is safe and good for you but don't swallow your toothpaste.

This was exactly what came to my mind. The greatest lie ever told to mankind is Freedom or the illusion of Freedom. Sure Freedom is a real thing, but I don't think most men will ever taste it. True freedom is beyond the chains and bounds of anything linked to society itself. It isn't necessarily the government that defines or prohibits it, but what society puts boundaries on. There are things that are accepted and that are not.. And that in itself is a contradiction of freedom.

So again, FREEDOM is the greatest lie ever told.
