American Airlines is having problems with its computer systems Tuesday, and it appears to be affecting its schedule.

“American’s reservation and booking tool, Sabre, is offline,” American spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said at midday. “We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as we can. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”

She confirmed that the problem is causing some delays of American flights.

We note that FlightStats.com at noon showed that 91 percent of American’s flights to that point had departed on time, with 89 percent arriving on time. If the

This is most very likely unrelated to the events at the Boston Marathon yesterday.

But, an AA flight out of Boston was involved in 9/11, so I find it kind of weird and random.

A search to make sure this current story had not yet been posted revealed this thread from 2008. AA also had similar problems then...

AA blames reservation system vendor, Sabre. Sabre states all is fine. Maybe AA's system / interface or something even worse.

Will we ever know...
