I agree. I grew up in Southern California. Lived in Japan. Earthquakes are far from new to me. I have wind chimes in my hallway, got my kids close and I'm as prepared as I'll ever be.

A little deeper, 7.4 klm but still shallow... How many is that now above 3 today? Like 7 or eight?
It's like aftershocks but without a big quake.

Earthquakes east of the Rocky Mountains, although less frequent than in the West, are typically felt over a much broader region. East of the Rockies, an earthquake can be felt over an area as much as ten times larger than a similar magnitude earthquake on the west coast. A magnitude 4.0 eastern U.S. earthquake typically can be felt at many places as far as 100 km (60 mi) from where it occurred, and it infrequently causes damage near its source. A magnitude 5.5 eastern U.S. earthquake usually can be felt as far as 500 km (300 mi) from where it occurred, and sometimes causes damage as far away as 40 km (25 mi).

This does not have good implications, as this is the exact area of focus for pressure release from the lost plate under the Gulf of Mexico...........very bad omen.

Could you please tell a little more about this or share some good links on the subject? This is the first I have ever heard about any lost plate causing a pressure release here in OK. Is it related to the New Madrid or an entirely different beast?

Was awakened by earthquake shaking house around 0100 just East of Norman, Ok. Nobody else woke up and I didn't hear anything about it on the news the next morning. It's unusual to feel earthquakes in Oklahoma and until 2 years ago I didn't know Oklahoma even had earthquakes. I've lived here all my life (over 50 years).

How devastating and news worthy.

Real game changer here.

Why should anyone care about this weak quake?

Sheesh, If it were where I am in So Cali, I would understand your comment, BUT Oklahoma is different.

Anyway A few months ago I was a little freaked out when we were having a TON of swarms here, and I am used to them. One of the quakes was only a 3.9, BUT it it was very quick and violent like a truck rammed my house. It freaked me out a little bit because of the type of quake it was. I did not know if it were a foreshock or if it were over. Some earthquakes are kind of fun(like a mild rolling one), but always scary to some point. After living in earthquake country for 6 years I am used to it, but you just never know when they start what is going to happen, because we arae. My larges was 4 years ago and it was only a 5.6, BUT it lasted over 45 seconds which seemed like forever. .
Hopefully Oklahoma is not having a precurser.

Sunday April 28 2013, 03:06:41 UTC Oklahoma 3.3 5.0 USGS Feed Detail

Link

New one just hit about an hour ago. It is weird because this one was down in south central OK around the Ardmore area. Most of the ones we have been seeing previously have all been up in east central OK around the Luther/Jones area.

Has anyone else ever noticed one down in that region before? It's a new one for me.
