Could this be Harmonic resonance?

Like a skyscraper in an earthquake that can shake itself to pieces by harmonic resonance.
That's my guess.

But what is the trigger, now that would be interesting if we could find that.

i've seen this effect before, it is simply the wind catching the concave side of the leaf.

Mysterious Swaying plant

We're sorry to disappoint mystery hunters, but the plant is likely to be a palmetto frond, the shape of which causes it to catch even the slightest breeze like a sail or airplane wing.

they are trying to say it is the Palmette Frond

So the person who made the video, is an ATS member?

In any case to me, looks like a freshly sprouted scrub palm (commonly found roundabouts the Carolinas) whos seed is rather large and round and easily rocks around in the loose soil esp when critters craw around in the hollow of the sprouted seed husk.

Thanks. That was interesting.
This was the first time I'd seen this story or that other thread.

My best guess is - someone has a thread attached to it!

I'm inclined to agree. Why is there only one of them? Surely there would be some kind of dispersal going on.
