Well, outside of the power of your ballot, there's not a lot you could do about it. Keep those attack ads coming. Steve is too dim to see he is defining himself with them, and when folks don't like the medium, the message tends to bite one in the arse.

Trudeau is accused of having more style and substance, but he's got two years to prove himself. One might want to keep one's apoplexy in check for a bit.

I think the last two years in Parliament would have been enough to at least get his parliamentary wheels rolling, and even get him up to speed. But he has done nothing but idle and doesn't seem to have learned anything from it.

Pardon me, but I don't see the potential.

Sorry didn't see any show stoppers myself. As far as Justin was concerned he rattled off alot of niceties, tidy little sound bites, but nothing with any meat. What I heard was someone who reiterated daddy's old tracks. There was nothing new, no policy stance or direction, and that's too bad because I was really hoping to see a new direction.

As a former Liberal from years gone by, all I see is a party that just keeps spiralling down.

I disagree and agree. Wasn't that great a speech. The unification of the Liberal party is a misnomer. Yes, all those who attended seemed to have a united front, but what is very apparent to me was a part of the liberal party that was missing. Then Blue Liberals that had supported the party for so many years and kept it from leaning to far to the left. None of them were there. They had abandonned the fold leaving only the socialist liberals. There is no longer any balanc ein the party. They are unified yes, but entirely to the left.

You mean the status quo has been upset? Good! Maybe the backstabbing stops. My Liberals are a centre-left party as my country is a centre-left country. That's my perspective...I support it with my vote...but I will defend your right to disagree.

That was by design:

It’s not that he risked mapping out anything like a full platform. In an early strategy session, a member of his core team, veteran Liberal policy adviser Mike McNair, set the tone by digging up this bit of advice from the memoirs of Brian Mulroney: “You cannot defend an entire detailed program if you want to be a serious contender for a party’s leadership. If you try, you won’t win.”

Decent article.

Exactly what I was alluding to; a naive Canadian trying to justify misguided government policies, possibly an ex civil servant that helped craft such programs. What ever happened to the novel concept or tailoring an immigration policy to suit economic needs. If you want put more people in a place to create economic demand, you create a country just like the ones the refugees are trying to escape from, such as India, Pakistan, sub Sub Saharan Africa etc. I do not discriminate but it would be logical to try to maintain ethnic homogeneity by choosing people with shared cultural and ethnic backgrounds; not exclusively of course but on the other hand destroy the existing culture. Ironically the Canadian Gov't has a department to protect the Canadian Culture at the same time as it is opening the floodgates to immigration. Perhaps I am being too logical. Someone please explain this to me in a rational way and how Justin will avoid becoming another Globalist Stooge. Thanks!

No irony, but a balance. However, Steve is gutting heritage programs.

You establish a royal commission to study the psychology of would be perpetrators of such atrocious crimes. The commission should be staffed by reputable and knowledgeable liberal psychologists, psychiatrists and special contributors to the liberal party. The commission will intensively study the issue paying special attention to cultural and demographic factors and other contributors, and make recommendations on how to recognize and identify potential future terrorists before crimes occur and develop special needs programs that are "Made in Canada" that can implemented in order to rehabilitate potential perpetrators before such crimes occur. Any required infracture facilities much be located in areas where regional disparities exist, and will be staffed by professionals that express the great cultural diversity that defines our magnificent country.

I also support your right to your opinion. My Liberal party was, I repeat was, centre-right.
Now I find my politics leaning much closer to the Conservative right.

Looks like this gov't would rather allow people from Asia, the Carib and Eastern Europe than those mostly related:

All's forgiven...
we'll take you back any time.

Truth is, I come to the Liberals from the NDP. Staunch trade union guy, but I found the Pinko Horde to be ultimately unrealistic with it's expectations. They are re-writing their roots but I think it is in recognition of the fact that NDP success in the last election reflected a need for Liberals to punish the status quo...not a sudden endorsement of Orange Crush. I see Trudeau's 'coronation' to be another swat at old-school Liberal malaise. So I'll give him a couple of years. Beats more Steve.

I just wanted to insert a note of correction. In an earlier post I referred to the author of On the Take as Stevie Smith. I'm afraid that was something of a senior's moment. The lady's name should have been Stevie Cameron and everybody should read her book.

In fact it should be reissued yearly with a new annual "appendix of corruption".

I'm sure after a few years it would start to look like an encyclopedia on the book shelf.

My apologies to Ms. Cameron and to the members reading the thread.
