So everyone wearing a hoodie and carrying a tea and skittles are now immediately assumed to be black teenagers? Good to know!

Please save it. You know fully well the circumstances behind this. This is a southern fl city police office. Using a target that is holding skittles, and ice tea. Now who was shot recently fitting that scenario?

Your the one making the assumption here not me. You are immediately assuming that this is something sinister, when in fact it could resemble a hispanic person, or a white person. Hell the silhouette could even be a female, there is nothing there proving that it isn't because there are no visible features, and that is why they use silhouette targets.

Wow. I cannot believe how ignorantt folks on ATS have become !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a poster of a BLACK - TEENAGER - WEARING A HOODIE - holding a packet of sweets in one hand and can of juice in the other. THREE....THREE....THREE stereotypes in one target !!!!!!

Jesus H are you lot blind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the target of a "unknown colour" guy aged about "unknown" wearing a balaclava and waving a sawn off shotgun in a bank !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know the kind of thing you shoot at

The image in the OP is not the image in question. It is very misleading because the image in question is just a simple silhouette target with no discernible features or ethnicity.

You are aware that the police currently use silhouettes of children as non shoot targets for training correct? Not sure where your trying to go with this.

Yes, but Im asking how you'd feel about someone using targets, that may resemble to something, someone you can relate to?

It doesn't matter what I think, it is his choice and if the department found it in poor taste they should have reprimanded him and told him that it was unacceptable. Firing the guy over a paper target is just ridiculous.

yeah...right...that's all it's about, it's just a paper target.....how about a white policeman in full dress uniform, would it then be "just a paper target"? or how about a Mexican in a sombero? or a an japanese woman in a kimono? or a bucktoothed, shaved-head, overall wearing, redneck?

You probably also missed the fact that the photo in the OP is not the actual photo in question too. It's very misleading and is even being retracted by some of the fringe news sources.

Oh really, so that face right there in that shooting target is a picture of a kid that was murdered as well? Right? Or was it just a random picture from a volunteer? We are already well aware that many people volunteer to have their faces used for target practice. This is not the same case for Trayvon Martin and you know it.

The question is how much it looks like Trayvon.

Did it intentionally look like Trayvon, as in a custom piece of art or was it a generic hoodie wearing dummy drawing that is being politicized?

That's the real question, can't trust any media source these days with such sloppy reporting.

Now in Sparde's defense the picture isnt the cartoon colored one. Its the solid black one with no facial features, but a hoodie outline, and that for some reason is holding a can of a beverage similar to " Arizona Ice Tea", and a noticable bag of skittles. Though it doesnt resemble Treyvon at all.

Good question.

Will the real poster please step forward.

If it is the one in the OP, then bad move by the cop.

If it is the one that we see in the later news video.... with no face at all, then it is a different story.

The picture in question isn't of Trayvon Martin either! The picture in the OP is the wrong picture! It was a silhouette, make of it what you wish, but it had no facial features or ethnic features at all period!

As someone who is from the area where the story broke, I can tell you the local news all showed the faceless silhouette last night. The picture from the OP is not the silhouette that Sgt. King brought with him to the shooting range.

Once again sensationalism in the media prevails.

Ok we have a paid public servant that is supposed to have a high moral compass, good riddance you piece of dirt, he has an an effigy or image of something he feels needs to be targeted and shared with fellow law enforcement, plain and simple if this stereotypical image is what the officer has in his mind as a target, why should he be serving the public ? he has his mind already made up of what to aim at, is there any defense for this moron?

Secondly, did Trayvon ever show any aggression or problem with any real police officer to begin with for the police to actually feel this way about a teen fitting this stereotype, there are thousands of individuals that match this imagery to a degree and I feel ashamed that there people entrusted to uphold the law that have a fire arm supplied by the public for them to act out his own thoughts ironically against the children or adolescents of those very citizens that pay his salary and he is to protect.... police in many instances need psychiatric evaluations more frequently because I think many believe they are bigger than life and far above any laws.

This type of thing perpetuates the distrust that the public already has of the police it does not help matters in any way.

I don't need a photo to show me that it's a young teenage black male, it's pretty much self-evident with the drawing. and if it's being retracted, that's good...however, "that horse has already left the barn" so to speak.

Thank you for the local angle and clarification.

The mass media wants to sell the story... so they need to spice it up.
