having read so much you would have to guard against "intellectual appraisal." ramana maharshi states that all you have ever learned will have to be unlearned before illumination takes place. (hope i got his words right). yet i found the book "i am that" a complete inspiration as nisigadatta answers all the questions that a chela/student might ask. it is free on line. tat tvam asi!

thank you orang - I have no doubt that ramana maharshi was a very advanced practitioner, but I find him so vague! It is so tough to get to the essence of what he is saying yes? I looked at the Nisigadatta book on amazon just now. It looks like it focuses on discrimination between the real and unreal. I have read much on discrimination, but I haven't been able to fully integrate everything. I know that I am not my mind, and I am not my body, but I can't keep that in focus at all times.
