If you believe all of this, then you have good reason to despair.

I recommend not believing everything you read.

Cheers Thanks for a considered reply_ I tend not to believe anything I read
The fraud is so evident and self-perpetuating
The possibility of another stolen election through fraudulent electronic election means is everywhere
Up popped little fraud Usama, whose main thread appeared to be ownership of the 911 lies

Explain the 35 million living in poverty .... perhaps it's because we give
away too much $$$ to other countries in aid. Bush just signed a
promise to Africa to give TRILLIONS of $$ in aid to fight AIDS. We
should have used it here instead. If we stopped giving so much to
other countries, and spent it on our own poor, I'm sure we would
have much less poverty here in America.

Perhaps if you spent the money you used to invade Iraq, you might have less poverty. As it stands, America is about 20th (ish) in the world in standards of living. Beaten by almost every European country. What country came top? Norway............ go figure..

And on topic, I wasn't surprised in the least but I didnt laugh, I just sat and stared. What I do find funny, is in this "Land of the Free", you are restricted in so many ways that you are not free at all.

You bash "Liberals" (I hate those labels), but you are supposed to be a free, hence liberal, country. Come to Europe/Australia/Japan to understand freedom.

In the UK, I am free to smoke pot, drink beer, look at porn. I have better healthcare, better education, a better democracy (i laughed at the post about America having the worlds #1 Democracy), better working conditions, more holidays, cleaner air and last but no means least, less fat women

By that do you mean that Hollywood doesn't toe the Christian fundamentalist line? What's wrong with pornography Flyersfan?
If you could have your own way, would you make America an entirely facist and fundamental state with limits on freedoms according to your prudent view of life? Do you believe that sex is only for procreation and that masturbation is evil?

So if the fundamentalist islamic world hates America so much because of Hollywood, you'd be willing to bow to their calls and further restrict what can and cant be done in popular media? You are for giving the terrorists what they want? Are your beliefs really no different than fundamentalist islam?.

Wow. You REALLY went off the deep end. Someone said California
was a 'cultural' center. I disagreed and pointed out the garbage that
spews from Hollywood and the porn industry. So now I'm a
'fundamentalist christian'?
Hardly. You had too many whacked
out questions to answer them all. And honestly, they were so strange
they don't deserve an answer. It's entirely possible to speak the
truth about Hollywood and the smut it pumps out, and that L.A. is
the porn capital of the world ...without being a Christian Fundamentalist.
(I'm not one) It's just common sense. No where did I say we should
'bow down' to the terrorists. That has come out of your over-the-top
response to a simple observation. It's TRUE that some of what the
terrorists hate most about America is what comes out of Hollywood.
It's just the truth. They have said so in their complaints. So my
beliefs are no different from Fundamentalist Islam? WOW ... that's
a real stretch. You don't even know what I believe. Just because I
point out something that the Islamic religion doesn't like about our
society, I believe it to be evil and want to be fundamentalist,
yadayadayda??? (oh-freak'n-brother!)

Do I believe that masterbation is evil and sex is just for procreation?
That's rather personal of a question to ask and totally off topic
considering the topic of this thread is political 'is everyone laughing
at the US?' But I'll go ahead and answer it. The masterbation question
was discussed in great detail on another thread. It goes to ONANISM.
The Old Testament says onanism is a sin that is punishable by death.
I do not believe it is evil and I disagree with the interpretation of the
Catholic church and Christian fundamentalists that it is evil. Is sex
for procreation? That was what it was made for. That's it's purpose.

You asked (again off topic) what's wrong with porn. Everything.
Porn is addictive (check the psychology books). Porn leads to violence
against women (it's a fact). Porn degrades human beings into 'things'
instead of loving people. This is a free society so people are allowed
to be self destructive and endulge in porn behavior, even when it isn't
good for them or society.

Would I make America a totally facist and fundamentalist state?
You really are WAAAAAAAAAAAAY out there, ya' know? I'm a veteran
of the United States Army. I volunteered to serve my country as it
is. If I didn't approve of our freedoms .... I never would have signed
up and agreed to give my life, if necessary, to uphold those freedoms.
I don't agree with what some people do with their freedoms, but they
have a right to be stupid or self destructive, and I gave five years of my
life, in the United States Army uniform, to defend those rights.

So ... bugger off.

Darn us generous Americans!! Too generous for our own good!

death on leaky boats to get here - not to get to South America or
Central America - but to get HERE to the United States. Mexicans

I don't see any of them risking death to get to Europe.

How the hell is a Mexican going to get to Europe? Or a Cuba or Haitian for that matter. Do you know where Europe is?

Explaination of 'non popularity' of America with Europeans.
JEALOUSY And because America doesn't give a flying ****
what Europeans think about who we should vote for or why.
It's our country and we are not European and never will be.

HAHA. What's with you and this "jealousy" rubbish? What could you possibly have that any other Western nation doesn't? Disneyland?

By the way Flyersfan. Have you ever set foot outside the US? In response to your above post, I'm not American. I don't care about your military service. You don't serve me, so you are kind wasting your time trying to garner my respect with it. Might work on the people at home though.

(FlyersFan, my question about whether you set foot outside the US was deleted when I added that I dont care about your military service. Oh noes! Conspiracy! He deleted a portion of his post! It's back in there now darlin'.

NO, we didn't get to vote about the $$$. If we had been able to
vote about where we send our $$$ I definately would NOT have
sent it to either Africa or Israel. It would have stayed right here
to help AMERICANS.

AND in response to your BTW -
I don't care that you don't care about my military service.
I wouldn't bother trying to 'garner your respect'.
It's very obvious to me that you don't understand the
self sacrifice and the serving of ones country.

Wow, France has a Disneyland! That's kinda ironic! Wait, that's Euro-Disney right? I think I read somewhere that it didn't really take off. I'm not sure though.

Edit: Oh I understand what it takes to serve. I'm very proud of my military and both my grandfather's service during the entirety of WW2. I just don't give a toss about yours. Nor should I really, I'm sure you'd agree.

Your attempted guilt trip about military service probably only works in the US. We don't have that kind of culture here. We generally feel that respect is earned, not issued.

By the way, I'm Australian...not European.

In response to Cargo's typical Europeanesque question
- 'what countries have you been to
and for how long'

I lived in Tokyo for three years. I was in Bolivia for one month
while we adopted our daughter (Santa Cruz). I've been to
Canada numerous times ... usually for a few days. I spent
one week in Caracas Venezuela (watched the OJ white bronco
chase on the TV at a bar in Caracas). I spent two weeks in
Switzerland (Honeymoon, my husbands family is from there,
he's 1st generation American). I lived with a family in Bosnia
for two weeks. I also visited Croatia and Serbia while I was
with the family. (interesting experience, I spoke none of their
language and they spoke no English). The war broke out as
we left ... MIGs flying overhead, soldiers with machine guns
at the airport, etc. Interesting. Spent a week in Germany.
(black forest was nice). Spent one weekend in France (YUK).
Spent one week in Italy (nice). Spent a weekend in Liechtenstein
(not sure of spelling - Vaduz was nice).

At the moment we are trying to figure a way financially to go
to Antarctica. First you fly down to Chile. Then you take the
boat to Antarctica. Then back from Chile again. It's rather
expensive, but it's what my husband and I have always wanted
to do. Our daughter is looking forward to it too.

Keep laughing.

For my part, I find the spectacle of those who are so self-inflated that they think they can speak on behalf of the whole world far more amusing.

Right up there with those non-Americans who think they know more about American politics than Americans do.

However, like any lame joke, it loses its humor after a while, and devolves into a tired old refrain unworthy of attention.

Not to worry, though. If there's one thing us stereotypical American couch potatoes know how to do, it's change the channel when there's nothing but reruns on.

Now, where's that remote?

Actually no I don't agree. The military folks here all respect
other people who have stepped up to the plate and served
their countries. If you don't respect others in their countries
who serve through self sacrifice ... I find that very sad.

As far as your statement that I 'attempted a guilt trip' with you..
that's VERY strange. I just stated facts and attempted nothing.
You find facts being stated 'an attempted guilt trip' and you find
facts about California being the porn capital of the world to be
'facist and christian fundamentalist' .... WOW. There really
isn't any purpose to my continued discussion with you. I find
your thought process too strange to be able to have a reasonable
discussion with.

How am I being nasty? I don't see them risking death to get to Europe either, that would just be plain stupid! The point is that they probably try to get to America over Europe because, oh I dunno...because its closer?? Well, that and you have alot of lawns that can be mown.

"North America" refers to the continent, "America" refers to the nation formally known as the "United States of America", shortened for reasons that become obvious with repeated use.

There is no continent of "America".

Nah, that's not what I said at all FlyersFan: the fact that California is the porn capital of the world is not the issue and is a true statement. Your view of porn is what I found extremist fundamentalist.

I think you will find that you are STILL the United States OF America, it is just referred to in commom usage as America, but the official name has not changed.. America is the entirety on North and South America combined. To refer to the US as America belittles the other countries on the continent.

Apparently it depends where you are taught. In Europe, students are taught that there are 6 continents where N. America and S. America are combined to form 1 continent. In the US it is 7 continents with the obvious seperation of N. and S. America.

Geographers apparently refer to 6 continents where Asia and Europe are combined (solid landmass).
