, However, I AM shaking my head in disbelief and dread. It seemed like soooo many americans didn't want bush back in power, yet he still managed to pull it off, just like the latham vs howard nonsense over here (Australia).

The part that REALLY got my blood boiling at the US government was watching his speech after winning. Seeing him standing there with that silly, smart alec grin on his face looking like some bizarre ventriloquist dummy......just rubbed me up the wrong way. I highly doubt in the next 4years Americans (or the world for that matter) will see one single day where america is not blowing someone or something up. It seems there are already plans in the wings to invade iran as well as a few other countries
How long is this madness going to continue before someone puts a stop to it?

Actually Bush got the most votes ever for a reelected President in History...

I didnt mean for this thread to become a bashing session. I just wanted some adult opnions on everyones views in other countries on the elections. I know a lot of foreigners hate America, we have known that for years and years. I dont bash on other countries, I respect them and their peopleand their values. I wish the same for us. My husband is from Bolivia and actually his family lives here in the US and they feel the same way and some of you about America, I just dont understand why everyone cant get along and just live life. If you look at the big picture we are all in the same boat. We all have to have the same things to live. It saddens me that it has come to this in the world, everywhere including America.

I feel sadness and pity for America, because now the world that hates Bush will start hating Americans too, because it's "y'all" who put him back into the White House after 4 years of lies and deceit.

He took a surplus and it took him only 4 years to make the United States the BIGGEST debtor on the planet. 4.3 trillion was it? Iraq has cost 260 BILLION so far?

But you know what, ignorance is a perfect defence. I guess it makes me feel better to think that 50% of all Americans (ie. those who voted for Bush) are clinically retarded than that they actually KNOW what they're voting for.

www.cnn.com...

Even after the highly polarizing campaign, the poll indicated some optimism for the next four years.

One-third of respondents said they were optimistic about Bush's second term, and 23 percent were enthusiastic. Another 24 percent said they were afraid and 18 percent expressed pessimism.

Just over half -- 51 percent -- of respondents said they were pleased with the outcome of the presidential election; 38 percent said they were upset.

Let's break that down. 23 percent say they are enthusiastic about Bush's 2nd term. 22 percent said they are "optimistic". 18 percent are pessimistic. 24 percent are AFRAID.

So one QUARTER of your country has the sense enough to realize that this is a BAD thing. One QUARTER of your OWN country is AFRAID of your idiot President.

The world isn't laughing at the US, they're figuring out how to unite AGAINST it. You'll see what I mean as your economy continues it's nosedive, it just makes me sad that so many will suffer unneccessarily.

Browsing these posts I was looking for any that expressed my
sentiments and yours does so exactly. But with the media
control in the US will typical citizens ever know what the rest
of the world thinks about them and this administration? Most
likely as the dollar continues to sink and devaluation day
approaches somehow "terrorists" will be blamed.. the
proponents of Globalism and their machinations to destroy the
credibility of the US as a benevolent world leader may never
be focused upon. Using the religious zealotry of this
administration to obscure the agenda has been working so far.

Um, dude, you're making the rest of us look bad.

Relax, maybe ease up on the coffee. It's going to be okay. Don't worry, everything is going to be okay.

No, i have always respected states like New York and California which are major world cultural centres and have cities that are right up there with London, Kyoto, Paris ect. On the other hand i will probably never understand the "bible belt" but not being able to understand them doesn't give me reason to laugh. I don't think the world lost any respect for Americans in general but perhaps it doesn't understand how denying personal freedoms because of religious beliefs could be one of the issues that wins an election in "the land of the free."

I have read the whole thread. So, I guess you have your answer. The other countries don't seem to be laughing at us. I'm hearing mostly anger. Then there are those who are sorry for us.

To those who are sorry for us I want to thank you for your concern. I am one of the voters who pushed President Bush to over a 3 1/2 million people lead over those voting for Senator Kerry.

I have read all of your characterizations about what a Bush voter must be.
So I guess you know all about me. I think that you might be a little off about the life one leads in the United States.

But, again, thank you for caring. I'm sure everything will be OK.

The US corporate media whores are NOT on the side of the American people, and that's why they're so uninformed. Just look at the amount of coverage that the Scott Peterson trial gets.

Honestly, husbands kill their wives every day, though the US corp media fixates on tiny little "American" stories at the expense of, well, the rest of the planet.

Actually i think they are a whole lot more worried about what the US will do to them than what happens to the US. If the US was isolationist and had no influence on what happens in other countries no one outside the US would care who won the election. Of course the good thing that comes out of this is countries are striving to become more independant of the US because of it's vastly different beliefs and policies to what Europe and most other western countries have. I can see the EU getting stronger internationally as a result. If this happens the world may become bi-polar again and in a better way than it was during the cold war. This would hopefully lead to a more stable world and have an organisation to keep the US in check.

other countries, and spent it on our own poor, I'm sure we would
have much less poverty here in America.

Look at this chart:
www.its.caltech.edu...

Most european contries a giving more of there GNP than US and still they got fare less poverty.. Explain that to me?

#1 - caltech.edu is radical left. I don't believe their figures.
They have an agenda. What they consider aid and giving
doesn't encompass what America REALLY gives - through
the government AND through faith based and good will
private organizations.

#2 - Even IF european countries gave more of their GNP
in aid (which I highly doubt is true) - it doesn't matter one
bit. The truth of the matter is that America gives trillions
upon trillions to foreign countries. If we spent that at
home on education, health care, housing for the poor ...
we would have a lot less. That's just a fact of life.

#3 - America pays for the defense of many countries. It
is US paying for troops and defense for Japan and for a
lot of Europe. If we hadn't been paying for the defense
of these countries through the cold war, (which Ronald
Reagan won - saving Western Europe from being invaded
by Russia and/or China) we could have been spending
that $$$ here at home as well.

California is a 'cultural center'?? It's the pornography capital of
the world. Hollywood has been pumping filth out for decades.
Part of why the fundamentalist Islamic world hates America so
much is the garbage that Hollywood spews .... most of it has
anti-Muslim (and anti-Christian) 'values'.

If you didn't notice most of the 1st world isn't extremist muslim or christian and is reasonably liberal e.g. England, Japan, Australia, Italy, Spain, Germany ect. I don't think the films that come out of hollywood would offend as many people in these countries as much as the policies coming out of the white house. Especially the ones on more practical issues like the KYOTO agreement and how to handle the war or terrorism.

By that do you mean that Hollywood doesn't toe the Christian fundamentalist line? What's wrong with pornography Flyersfan? Is America not the beacon of freedom? People do what they want, read what they want and watch what they want as long as it involves consent, no? If you could have your own way, would you make America an entirely facist and fundamental state with limits on freedoms according to your prudent view of life? Do you believe that sex is only for procreation and that masturbation is evil?

So if the fundamentalist islamic world hates America so much because of Hollywood, you'd be willing to bow to their calls and further restrict what can and cant be done in popular media? You are for giving the terrorists what they want? Are your beliefs really no different than fundamentalist islam?

Loosen up, FlyersFan. Have more fun. Have more sex. Life is short.

The funny thing about voter fraud and the problems America has had with it in the past is that the party that is typically guilty of it (or at least get caught at it) is the same party that the rest of the world is alleged to support every election cycle. I recall after the 2000 election and the the attempt by the subsequent loser to steal the election, after all that there was a T.V. news story that featured a nice English gentleman who was on the air to slap the wrists of americans for electing George W. Bush; who is any englishman to think that his opinion or any other opinion in any other country besides the United States of America should matter to an American? Especially when it concerns American leadership. Basically world opinion is bunk, it is simply common sense that other countries have their own interests at heart just as America should. People who are overly concerned with the opinion of the average European, or Arab are probably overly concerned with everyone's opinion of them anyways. If the world is laughing at America it is done so nervously, either because they are hypocrites or outright enemies.

No you dont. There are some better democracys in the world. Australia and the uk being a couple of them. Not only that it has been shown that there were some countys in America who were paying people for there votes. Maybe Bush paid for that slim margin that he won by.

Yes, your pity and your socialistic/communistic ideas are yours to keep, but not for you, or the rest of the world, to impose on the US....

mmm i think theres a bunch of arabs in the world that feel like that, exept they would say your democracy.

At the moment in the uk one of the concerns are that Bush with his new found confidance dosent do what americans are genrally known for [ being gun ho] and do somthing that we will all pay for.

Many of us outsiders just despair theres as many as 60 million dumb dupes
and that most of the rest are still strugglihg to find the energy and means to overturn a regime so self-evidently corrupt and consisting of recidivist criminals, war criminals equal to any known to history,money-launderers, drug-smugglers, liars and religious poseurs, disguising their actual satanist practice and which leach out an opposition of equal and opposte force - the created and usable self-image
Still in the UK we face exactly the same thing
It's absolutely vital to find a revolutionary praxis which maintains some adherence to old values of community and society and cooperation, because these bloodsuckers are driving us fast towards a genocidally reduced world society where we will only have the hierarchy of the beehive as the paradigm for our societal code

If you believe all of this, then you have good reason to despair.

I recommend not believing everything you read. Doing so tends to make people say things that are both senseless and regrettable.

When you submit to the drumbeats of hatred, then you have become nothing more than a tool of evil.

The fact that a majority of Americans don't see things the way international propagandists want us to see things can be considered proof that we are a bunch of idiots, or it can be considered proof that we know something others don't.

Take your pick. People only believe what they want to believe anyway. Plenty of proof of that on ATS.

... Put it best when he said

I think they are rolling their eyes, shaking their heads, and simply dreading it, not laughing...

Everyone I've spoken to (in North West UK) just finds it unfathomable that Bush has been given four more years in power. We are not laughing, we are dreading the future and how these four more years could be our last.

Here we go...

Peace
