Attacking this thing probably would set it off. Think about it. You would have to send a shuttle mission. I hope it's not booby-trapped.

Your jokeing right? Your Tin Foil hat must be giving you some sort of metel poisoning

You can just send a Missle up and shoot it down not to mention the Laser tecnology that been in development since the 1980's and 1990's that to do with blocking satlitiles and shooting them down (No doubt the USA has a working weapon by now).

Hell the UK could take it down if it wanted to

All the North Korean satilite is is a either a test to to see if they can get one up there in which case all its got is a GPS device or its got a cameria and mapping computers in it.

Notice the "each of" in that. It's not just one bomb, it takes quite a few of them to destroy the world, which means their one satellite isn't going to do a lot even if it's a cobalt bomb. One cobalt bomb does not a world killer make.

You could do this with one bomb if it is high enough in the atmosphere. The falling out radioactive particles would be picked up by jet streams. You would have to use a pretty powerful rocket. The best option would be to put it in orbit for later use. Cobalt is the best substance to use for this. You have a trade off between the energetic damage done by the particles and their half lives. The more energetic the particle the shorter the half life. You want it to be damaging, but you also want it to last. You could also design a weapon that irradiated a city for a specified number of months or years depending on the element used. You would get best results using a high yield hydrogen bomb. This shouldn't be hard for the North Koreans since they now use two point implosion technology. It's possible to make these weapons with a smaller fusion stage. Obviously, the smaller the bomb the less radioactive particles could be produced. I doubt the North Koreans have these kind of weapons with their artillery or the backpack nuke brigade.

If the US thought they could take it out safely, they would have by now. What don't you understand? You do not want to set it off. A laser would be the worst option, generating a current setting of explosives. Detonating a missile near it to push it out into space may work. You have drank the Kool Aid. You seriously overestimate the capabilities of the United States antiballistic missile and antisatellite capabilities. Star Wars was cancelled for a reason. Show me an antiballistic missile test that wasn't rigged.

Tell me.. Who is going to dominate and control a dead and contaminated world and be proud of it? Any idea..?

Nukes are obsolete weapons, no one… even crazy one wouldn’t use those weapons since they render the earth unusable, uninhabitable, useless…!

If anyone like to be the king of nothing then why they don’t move to the Moon or Mars or whatever..? What you need to do is just put your flags there and do whatever you like..! right..?

The reason they havent taken it out is that shooting down satilites is frowend upon and would get north Korea really pissy . They would only shoot it down if it was a known threat.

No you couldn't, because each bomb has a finite amount of cobalt in it. That cobalt is only going to contaminate a certain amount of area, so you're going to need more than one source of cobalt.

To paraphrase "DR. STRANGELOVE" , what is the point if you don't tell anyone you have it? If you just want to destroy the world you just set it off and be done with it.

Here is a pretty good explanation of why this whole N.K. situation is such a joke.

If NASA can plan to recover an asteroid and place it in earth/moon orbit then how difficult would it be to remove a saterlite from orbit?? I think if a device capable of removing all life from this planet existed then all nations/organisations would invest heavily in removing that threat, dont you??

I am more concerned that elites (at least many of them) would like to see 85% of the human poulation removed and there does seem to be plenty of realistic possibilies for this to play out, albeit in a kind of James Bond bad guy. or mad professor scenario
