I've seen a lot of documentaries relating to Einstein and I've never heard of him going crazy. Pretty sure he was even working out equations as he lay dying.
I did hear that some people thought that he may have been a savant.

I got the impression that he was a bit arrogant in college, but ending up as a lowly worker at the patent office took him down a peg or two. He was married and got divorced, and he showed very human concern over the idea of the Germans getting the atom bomb before anyone else. I don't think savants can feel that much, can they?
