Im pretty sure that the US have been at Defcon 3 for the last two weeks.

Even if this IS true ...and who knows? Defcon 3 is a higher alert but certainly not war. It simply means they raise to a level where if something happened totally by surprise, they would respond without have to come off a dead stop and cold response.

Defcon 2 would worry me ...and we never want to see 1. lol...

Not sure how reliable the information is on current Defcon Levels (I would think this would be a fairly confidential matter)...but everything else in the Debkafile article has been previously reported in other media sources.

It would not seem unreasonable for the alert status to be at "3", given that North Korea will very likely launch a ballistic missile sometime in the next few days.

It would be unlikely as DEFCON 3 has been reached only what? Like 3 times in out history. Of course they do not come out and tell you until after anyway. I would guess that this is not true.
