John Kerry is currently over there now, so I do not believe anything will happen.

Or ... he's there and if something DOES happen to him because of Lil' Kim, then it's a really good reason for the USA to rain down a firestorm upon North Korea.

eta .. I should say .. a really good reason as far as the government is concerned .. not as far as I'm concerned.

Oh I know I shouldn't see anything but horror in that thought. Still... Ambassador in Libya yesterday, Secy State himself today? Well.... Who the heck knows anymore. I can't honestly say this is still entirely the same nation I knew by growing up in as recently as 13 years ago.

Once upon a time, the suggestion would be totally absurd and proof that someone had a tinfoil hat screwed on way too tight. Now? So much has happened I never believed I'd see here......? I just don't think we can say never on much anymore.

Never heard that those two missing North Korean subs were found yet. Still believe all this "missiles going up, down" bit is just a distraction. How about having put nukes in those subs, going to Tokyo Bay and detonating them.

This would devastate Japan, and also the US (economically)

The situation is a difficult one to navigate in the sense that 1) if allied forces initiate a preemptive strike it will be the start of war and 2) if allied forces sit at the ready they may find themselves in a position of trying to knock missiles out of the sky.

It's like the wild wild west where you have two dudes staring at eachother on Main St. with hands on their six-shot pistols....who's gonna flinch first.

I suspect that the allied forces (U.S., Japan and South Korea) will exercise restraint until NK fires the first shot...which will most likely not happen. It's almost as if NK is trying to bait someone into starting the war, but why? They would be decimated.

I think its time we show him he's gone too far. Drop a bomb on the missile they brought out to the launchpad and tell Kim if he brings out another one its over for him.

The rhetoric along with their pre-emptive movements is enough probable cause to save Tokyo. He wants us to take him serious right?

I'm pretty sure international laws and politics are a bit different than our domestic ones but here in the US, police do not have to take a bullet before they unload. If they see what they believe to be a gun pointed toward them, they will unload theirs in a heartbeat.
I say, we've seen the missiles, the threats are escalating as NK is fueling them up.... The US is already the nation that most others show hate for, unless, of course, they are in need of help.

Since the US will be criticized either way, why not just step in and clean house then follow up with a true humanitarian effort to get food and supplies to the N. Koreans who really need it.
Following this, call upon China and S. Korea to decide amongst themselves whether to unify to one Korea again, let China occupy some of it, maybe unify and create a buffer zone along the China border ?

Why let China occupy etc.. I'm not sure that is really the right thing but the US truly would have to come in and LEAVE ASAP. A true effort to remove a tyrant with no strings attached, no US bases in the North being left etc... Just do it right so that we aren't seen as trying to get closer to China's border. I could care less about getting a strategic outpost in return than simply letting a nation of people find a better way of life.

There has to be a solution and Kim Jong does not need to be a part of it as he has shown no real want to talk up to this point and it is likely he will never give concessions if any talks were to be had.

After seeing thread after thread about North Korea I have came to the decision that all this BS is taking place because of John Kerry giving up control of the propaganda at the BBG Broadcast Board of Governors. I am not saying he has given up control of the BBG just the propaganda they push. He has now allowed Japan and South Korea to run a muck in propaganda without any control by the US. When Hillary was there she loved being in control of the Official United States Board of Propaganda. But John Kerry seems to want to step back and say you little bullies want to go start a fight with North Korea go ahead we will watch. When it gets out of hand we will jump in.

And How about all that cannibalism BS?Do you know where it is coming from besides every news outlet pushing war propaganda after it was already reported by the source? The source is Rimjin-gang - Report. Who are they? Jiro Ishimaru a Japanese journalist who is teamed up with Choi Jin a North Korean propaganda writer who defected to South Korea and continued with the only thing she knows. Propaganda. So two propaganda writers who hate North Korea write a article about cannibalism and all the networks run with it. Why?Because Japan South Korea and Australia are being given the chance to play the propaganda game. They are being allowed to take the lead.

You know even if the sanctions are hurting and Japan is involved. China is alleviating the blockade.

So, if China is keeping his people from starving, then there is no need to start a war. Especially not a nuclear confrontation.

The thing that concerns me is does he really intend to launch.

That makes most us very comfortable, thank you for posting it. I think this is the calming hand the situation needs right now. Did Kerry take Dennis Rodman with him?

Good point about Kerry, it would be better if someone strong, determined, charismatic, were in that position right now. Someone who knows exactly what they want, and how to obtain it. Kerry does seem kind of like a softy,
doesn't he?

A day or two ago China declared it will sever all ties with NK, all of them, meaning no trading and no food for the NK People, almost all countries and stopping all economic planned developement and cutting there loses and moving out, Kim UN is in it Deep and no turning back no it seems, he needs to get his ass in a chair for peace (if not too late) or else it might get messy, specially for him. On a side note China doing this doesnt help the situation, they could at least threaten first and see what happens, maybe Un'd give in, it just inflames the situation, kinda like CHINA wants things to escalate.. Oh yeah not sure where I read this, someone have a link about China, i THINK it was RT.COM

...and China was just waiting for the opportunity to give Taiwan a big offer they can't refuse? Not much we could do even if we wanted to. We couldn't exactly hold up a time out card on Korea to turn the miles south for Taiwan coverage.

Now you see why China is behind all of this! China moved their troops to the border with NK before he started mouthing off. Why people have not seen this is beyond me.

China was in a pickle as it was pissing off every country in their area over the Islands they think should be theirs. They need a major distraction to take them when they see the U.S. and NATO very weak.

I guess they need Arty and parachutes for refugees! China has said they will not allow war on their doorstep. They have a defense pack with North Korea and if it were not for Chinese intervention North Korea would not exist today so what does that tell you.

Hi Patriotsrevenge, ATS Readers, Writers,

WOW, while I was asleep a lot of folks responded to this thread, cool. And some good input.

There was Swampbuck too kind of hinting or thinking "out loud" along these lines.

When I saw, or read that China was putting troops and modern air force fighters along its border I was thinking:
"Well this could mean 2 things"..

1.) They weren't going to let a bunch of refugees come piling into China... OR

2.) They were positioning themselves to defend N Korea AGAIN if the West decided to get froggy and invade them.

Logic says #2, you don't NEED the latest greatest fancy fighters to keep starving refugees out, just troops, right?

AND ANOTHER THING.... China has ZERO love for Japan as well.

IS THIS SUDDEN ATTACK ON JAPAN THREAT.... a sign that N Korea is taking orders from China? I am referring to Japan printing bazillions of yen, Quantitative Easing Japanese style; and China getting VERY mad at them for doing so, and screaming CURRENCY WAR. China has a bubble or two in their economy just dying to pop as well.

Tokyo is already getting plenty of radiation from Fukushima. In fact Japan is screwed because of Fukushima alone already!

I for one have NEVER trusted China. I keep remembering all the technology disappearing from Los Alamos labs in NM when Clinton was president, the scandals with a Chinese scientist working there, etc. I even remember a bunch of missing hard drives, that mysteriously showed up a month or so later. EXPLANATION WAS: They had fallen behind a file cabinet, and nobody had looked behind the file cabinet. HA, what a crock of vegemite.

And during that time period President Clinton stating that it was GOOD that China was getting this information/technology because it made a balanced war threat ability, making war less likely to happen. HA ANOTHER crock o smelly vegemite.

ALSO, remember the Kursk? Russian sub sinking? Around 2000?

When Russia requested to see an American sub they thought that may have run into the Kursk, that had gone into a drydock real fast after that disaster, and the USA refused to allow it??? Russia just wanted to see if it had some ugly scratches on its skin..Get this!

At the SAME TIME that was going on, I read in the US Navy Times, a newspaper for retirees, that CHINA was being allowed UNESCORTED access to our CIC (Combat Information Center) area on our latest greatest missile frigates in Pearl Harbor!!! Now just how "messed up" is that!?!?

Personally I smell some really dirty rats from WAY back.

Personally, living here in my new country, and LOVING OZ, a war between China and Japan would be like a HUGE disaster for Oz. Those two nations comprise 50% of OZ's trade!!!

And yesterday there was a news article on how Australias workers were way overpaid, and how it was gonna cause huge trouble down the road for Oz...hmmm.. preparing Oz for its own version of "Grapes of Wrath"?

Well at LEAST I am where I want to be with my wife, in the most beautiful area/country you can imagine! Loving Oz to the max, but trouble is brewing for poor ol Oz as well me thinks.

Little Kim can only provoke for so long, sooner or later one of North Korea's MANY enemies are going to act on these threats... If I'm Japan, I'm taking this threat very serious and considering an offensive strike.... With Japan's history of being nuked once, and then we have a part of the country that's a nuclear disaster zone I wouldn't even mess around with those threats... Basically North Korea wants to make that whole island uninhabitable

Anybody else catching that: if they shoot down your test missile....they'll probably shoot down your nuke missile too....right?

I'm really starting to think he's gone completely off the deep end...into believing his own rhetoric.

What happens if you shoot down a nuclear missile over Japan?

They also didn't mention how they were going to deliver the nuke, just that it would blow up Tokyo.
