LOL at them backing off their threats and calling their failed launch a failed "test."

This is why they can never have anything nice.

Kim Jong- Un needs to go back to evil dictator school.
Every evil dictator bent on nuking the world knows that you never windows 8 to launch your missals. You must use windows XP.

So do you believe that NK would use windows as their operating system and then call windows support to help get their missiles working properly?

Or does your own mind tell you that NK would likely have their own (or Chinese) programmers and military network to operate their missiles with a certain level of security?

I dont think NK would use windows for their military.

I wouldn't put it past North Korea

In all seriousness though, i did include a related link in the OP, which describes that this is a joke (The Inquisitor)...but hey, we won't know for sure until the original writer comes out and says it is a joke

This is one of the most bizarre thing I ever read in ATS kkk

So the Windows' Blue Screen of Death did actually some good! This news is so humiliating for a country testing a bloody "missile" that I can even believe it may be true.

And maybe Bill Gates just avoided WW3

I don't know what 2 do/say/act.

World events are being reduced to bad puns. (Please troll on me if this is a joke and I have completely missed the fact this is a joke). So is Microsoft helping with what??? Delayed what?

My brain hurts from the WTF's....

This is something I would complain about in a very lame B grade movie..... WHAT?!?!?!?

I hope no one actually believes this crap!

I don't believe it.
Even if it's true, I still cant bring myself to believe something this retarded could exist in reality.

You have gotta be kidding me!

Oh yeah, and I have never seen a nuclear launch control panel that was operated by windows.

From what I remember, they were all analog switches.
That way computer errors cannot cause a mistaken launch.

But hey, let's believe the media's BS instead. It's funny right? Despite being next to impossible?

Yeh right, North Korea is using Windows 8, an American operating system, for it's missile systems.

Who actually believes this?

The North Koreans are paranoid as it is..now, if most people on ATS and other forums, know that there are back doors to Microsoft's operating systems, including Windows 8, what makes anyone think that a paranoid dictatorship like that in North Korea wouldn't at the very least suspect something of the kind and opt for something different?

And if they are by some miracle using Windows 8, how on earth did they get copies?
Would they be using legal, legitimate copies of Windows 8?
Or would they more likely be pirated copies?

So the source "TheNewYorker" is a tabloid for jokes ?

Because if this is supposed to be actual news, than our news quality is so far down the drain it's in the septic tank.

US Nuclear Launch Control Panal

See any Windows OS?

Didn't think so.

And since that's an older model (still probably modern compared to anything NK has), go ahead and hit those keywords in and check Google images for more photos of similar systems.
