It is sad that the majority of Americans view two men or women loving one another in a legally binding relationship more offensive then murder, corruption, war and subjigation.

This is a black day for humanity.

All americans should be like you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad there are still americans who understand the real deal!!! thank you, I'm a bit less mad because of you!!!!!

These people are dying in an unjust war. I am sorry I do not like fighting or war like you and all you conservatives. I have a clue more than you (hey, a rhyme :lol
. Nobody ever said the military was going to take it on here. You must of believed saddom was preparing an invasion of the us or something. I would rather not have lost 1 life than have gone to war. How about all the civilians killed. Somewhere around 20,000. But they aren't american so you probably do not care. They're just crazy arabs right. Is that how you feel.

"They lost the race for President and lost seats in the house and Tom Daschle lost his seat in the Senate. That is in a state of decline, which is a weakened state. They are weaker than the Republicans."
Basically we are turning into a one party system with no check and ballance. So long constitution. By-by Bill of rights. See ya, first amendment. Hello tyranny.

Touched up above. Voters are remarkably bad at calculating their own self-interest, even when their self-interest and their political beliefs coincide. Bartels gives the following example. Only the richest 2 percent of Americans pay estate taxes. Yet among people who believe that the rich ought to pay more taxes, and who also believe that growing income inequality is a bad thing, two-thirds also favor repeal of the estate tax!
[edit on 3-11-2004 by Cash3w]

Bull. If not federal taxes, there's state taxes on land and the only non taxed, owned land is here in Louisiana and one other state, as recent as 10 years back. Anything above $75,000, or that you don't live on, you HAVE to pay taxes on, in my state, a rediculosly conservative state

I havent got round to seeing all the news yet but one of the things i did notice straight off at a glance is the above seeming to be true.!!!!

Personally i feel that the Americans voted out of fear as they appeared unable to deal with their terrorist attack.

IMHO Kerry was not really any kind of opponent and it was clear early on in the run up to the election that him and bush where mates. I think i remember people on here saying they were in it together. Thats probably why he has so quietly conceded his loss.

1. Noone is bashing anything, if you can not handle sharp discussion and a harsh tone, stay out the freaking thread.

2. The entire world is allowed to have an opinion on the US elections, no matter what people like you think about it. We may not have the possibility to vote, but the impact that your president has on the world justifies every single human being on this planet to ventilate what he/she thinks.

Besides this, it was never my intention to insult anyone. I asked my questions in the same way I hear a lot of "kerry supporters" around me talk, and tried to make Bush supporters give their responses, because I have never heard Bush supporters defend their choice when it comes to these issues.

Here's a question, if arnold shwarztanager(sp) gets his way, he will be running in 2008. Are you going to vote for him also? He is currently trying to ammend the 22nd amendment so he can run. It is no secret.

I might but i don't know about Arnold. I have not heard what he would plan to do. I am not going to say no because i have not heard any plans. From what i've heard in California is isn't doing a bad job. I might have voted against Bush IF there was a cadidate that i thought could do the job.

Iraq Issue:

I do not think Bush should of declared Mission Accomplished but i do agree in regards to going into Iraq. It had to be done sooner or later and the UN was not doing its job. The resolutions where a joke and the Bush Administration finally did what no other President would have done. Solve the problem before it materialized. Clinton for example was in office when the WTC was attacked in 1993. What did Clinton do? Nothing. The world needs to get used to the United States protecting itself. Bush made that clear and has stuck to it. Maybe that is what you people arn't used to, a President that does what he says. I don't just follow, i follow the one that best fits my family, my country, and me.

I voted Bush and i would like to see the gay marriage. There are more important things to worry about like Terrorism, taxes, healthcare, and security. Gay Marriage is not a high priority to me.

Terrorism- Bush got my vote here because Kerry voting against defense bills.

Taxes- Bush says less taxes, Kerry says he will not raise taxes but in order for him to follow through with the rest of his promises he will have to raise taxes.

Healthcare- Like i said above, in order for Kerry to come through on his healthcare plan he would have to raise taxes, tax credits are not going to cover it.

Security- Once again, Kerry voted against Defense bills.

Now, how am i going to feel safe knowing the Commander and Chief doesn't believe in throughing money to our military so that they can protect us.

Taxes are an unpopular idea, that's for sure. However, racking up huge debt to pay for all that, means mortgaging the next few generations. Money will be tighter in future. I would feel better paying more taxes but knowing that my children live in a country with less debt and adequate govt services. Left to Bush, either the services will eventually collapse, or the credit rating of the govt just got to go way down (no money in that case either), or both.

I personally believe in subsidized education and healthcare because that's real human rights and equality. To me that's more important than the right to carry guns.

Man, its like trying to drive a wooden nail through a steel plate. Talking with some of you people in these forums.

I didn't vote for Bush because I'm scared.

I'm not a religious nutcase, yes I do believe in God though.

I voted for Bush simply because he was the best man for the job!!!!!!!!!!!

How many more sweeping, hateful, generalized, and close-minded comments does a guy need to put up with in here.

Yes, call me what you want for this comment, but marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. Gay couples can be together and do whatever they want as far as I'm concerned. Im not an ignorant homophobe or a queer hater or a whatever you wanna call me.

But, married men and women get tax breaks because something like 90% of the married couples in this country have children, or are getting ready to raise children.

I also have to state the fact that this country isn't ready for gay couples to start adopting children. Geez, kids from single parent homes are screwed up enough as it is.

I hear alll this talk about oh no, the world is going to end, Bush got re-elected!!!! Yeah right we'll see

The world isn't going to end!
Everything is going to be alright!

Jmilici, dont put words in my mouth that I never spoke or implied. Your posts indicate that it is not worth debating you. The people of America just voted for their representatives and you are talking about tyranny?

Jakko, you said the following
1. Are *some* americans too dumb to base their opinion on the content of speeches, basing their vote just on the superfacial oneliners?

2. Why, even if your main concern is terrorism and safety, is Bush a better president than Kerry? I am sure that anyone who is not totally retarded could have handled terrorism like Bush did. What is so special here??

You have clearly bashed Bush voters and Bush himself. You say you never intended to insult anyone but look at what you wrote, anyone who is not totally retarded that statement is not a compliment?

Yes, I do generally vote Republican, but I do think about it and ask questions.
1. Baby Killer vs. Baby Killer. Do you vote for the guy who supposrted partial birth abortion (an abortion you do to children who could be born ANY day: a breached birth (the most dangerous form of birth for a woman) with a blunt object waiting to be shoved into the newborn's brain before it gets the chnce to breathe? My God, you see their sex before you see their face.... Do you vote for the man who sent our babies off to war? Sorry, 18 year old babies DECIDED to enlist and not nearly all those that enlist die. You are lucky to see an abortion live, faces burned, limbs missing, knowing the mamma that is raising them was the one who did that to them..... Honestly, what is more disgusting to me?
2. Idiot vs. Lair Do you choose a man so many people see as a gibbering idiot, that seems to have the personality of a turnip green? Do you chose the man that LIES to your face, knowing too many people knowing you lied, knowing that your LIES were played to young men in Vietnam, as an excuse for cohersion and abuse of war prisoners? People like Kerry and Jane Fonda (Hanoi Jane) ought to have been tried for TREASON before I was even born. I so hate to be lied to that it often goes beyond my abilities to reason out the sides of any issue, other than the lie itself. For this alone, bush could have had my vote. I've had family die in Nam....because of Kerry's unsuportive behavior...some of which he used for this campaign...same tatics as what so hurt us last time? I think not. He ain't going to make it all better. He couldn't then. Once bitten twice shy.
3. Middle Class vs. Big Money Which group is responsible for what? First off, my dad is a welder. He welds ships for the oil industry. Right now, I think that crude oil needs to be close to $60 a barrell before we get many new oil wells. Right now, we NEED oil prices to go up, so that my LOWER MIDDLE CLASS family can survive. The tree-hugging Democrats (not all, just the tree huggers) make it hard to drill where the oil is because "ooooo we gonna kill the marshes." We lose more marsh from the Mississippi being so leveed that all the silt is going into the gulf instead of into the marshes. They'd prefer lower prices with OPEC controlling our oil supply, giving the Middle East more jobs than Southern Lousisana. The only reason we have a welding industry, still, is because we still have to have American certified to be in American waters (which is a good thing, since I happen to know a little bit about some Euorpean ideas of welding ships compared to Americans...and in this case, the American was is a hell of a lot safer).
Raise Oil prices, my parents are in debt. BTW, if we do more drilling here, it will restart our economy much more firmly than most other plans. :sarcasm: Ooooo, let's raise the minimum wage and drive up inflation. :sarcasm:
4. Education vs. Education Who would you choose over that hullaballoo? Well, you can't homeschool without having less government, PERIOD. Democrats, generally, don't. The system that put me in college, TOPS, was based off of BUSH's program in Texas for getting people to college. I got my education because of Bush and people like Bush.
5. Economics vs. Economics Guess what, the economy takes several years to respond to specific legislation or policies (unless it is done as specualtion) , sometimes much longer than a president CAN be in office. The country's "recession" right now STARTED towards the end of Clinton's reign of terrorororor, lol....Clinton's good years were Regan's fault. Regan's first few years were the fault of the damned Democrat before him. (Did you know that the tax brackets were set up so that you'd take LESS money home the weeks you made more money right before Regan dropped the tax wages?)
6. History vs. History Since Kennedy, the Democrats have been nothing but bad news for this country's economic structure. The Republican's got to be something REALLY heinus to get me to vote Democrat. (Like voting between Edwin Edwards and the ever-so-annoying Grand Wizard of a Republican for Governor.)
7. Pro Guns vs. Anti Guns
I have a Laotian friend who was a teacher in his country. Not long after they took the rights to have guns form the people in his country, the gugn toting Vietnamese came and killed everyone with an education who couldn't get this gountriy's amnasty. Remember, our President can declare Marital Law, and suspend the constitution. The fact that half or more of this country can pick up a gun and defend their rights keep those in power a bit more honest than they could be. (Think: If you could make this country's people defenseless and take over with an unstopable force, would you?) No one's going to take that right form me, whether or not I ever carry a gun (and I don't) becuase I've seen what it's done to friends of mine when they no longer had that right.

That, and I saw what the exit polls (sp?) did to the Dow in the morning.
And I see what they are doing now.

No not at all, my point was that there was nothing special or extraordinary about Bush handling the terrorist threats. Anyone (unless they are retarded of course) could have handled it like Bush did.
In my opinion no reason to vote for Bush regarding terrorism and safety.

Why did so many people for for George Bush? It's very simple.
America is George Bush's top priority.
Socialist Euro-Centric John Kerry had himself and Europe as his top priorities.

The American president is there to watch out for AMERICA ...
not Europe, not the UN, not anyone else. AMERICA.
Bush fulfills this requirement. Kerry didn't even come close.

The above is the most important reason Bush got the vote.

I'm a poor old lady. I still work and take care of myself. Our government has programs available when people cannot take care of themselves. This is good and right.

I believe that because I have not chosen to become wealthy with hard work and sacrifice, that the top 2% of this country should not have to provide all the goodies for me.

No house, no car, no cable TV or cell phone. Don't know what a DVD is yet. The only reason I have the computer is because it helps me support myself

President Bush stand on morals and values is important. I do believe in the moral values, but gay marriage was a very small part of my concern about where our values have gone.

My life is very satisfying and I feel very Blessed that I live here in the US with George Bush as my president.

All very good points but i think this is the topic most American do not understand. Kerry tried to use this as a campaigning tool and it did not work. We are just now going start seeing results from Bush in office.

IMO there was not ONE reason to vote for Kerry on any issue that is important. Sure Stem Cell Research is important but Kerry and Edwards where trying to play the American people on that one. Stem Cell Research hasn't resulted in any cures yet.

Well, ya know...I guess we, those that voted for Bush, should be glad we're in the minority....only 3% of the American population have an IQ lever of over 130.....Bush says, "I'm with god, I don't agree with same sex marriage"....and there you have it...all the church going public rallies round....and the you have all the silly woman with the ridiculous, "I feel safe with Bush" BS My God I can't believe it! Bush wants to get back to the good ol' 50's morality.....put woman back in the kitchen with no control over what she does with her own body .....I can not believe how America has it's priorities so confused...morality in government has take precedence over People....I'm embarrassed to be an American this day.
