It is the China Korea border

Wow, really? Aside from the mountain they claim whatshisface was born at, I've never seen much from the NK/Chinese border. It's kinda creepy how unassuming & mundane it looks (NK city)

Edit: not insinuating the NKs are all creepy, just that I expected a more military-ish appearance, like the DMZ.

You can hear someone shoveling coal into a wheel barrel off camera, then will take it home and cook with it, heat the home.

Welcome to the dark ages.

Christ sakes...must we get some breaking alert report everytime a north Korean reloads his rifle?

its been super duper doom porn for weeks/months and ultimately years now. I am fully apathetic now about their moves...until something launches, then its just the same ole, same ole.

"Going to eat at Applebees"
10 mins later
"Ordering the Steak.mmmmm"
20 mins later
"Steak was good- gunna get my drink on"

-And so on.

DPRK is the FB of the WORLD =)

You could be right. Is North Korea just playing a war game by themselves? So far it looks like that. Something has got to give, and maybe when the U.S. ends their war games with South Korea then the North will end theirs. But if any more sanctions are put on them then they will probably launch something. The last sanctions put a financial cut on them. I'm sure that this caused what we are all seeing play out.

I do agree that they should be allowed to have some means of defending themselves, like we need our guns. But not of of mass destruction, we know they can't handle it.

Have you guys seen NBC News latest report? Wait til 1:11. I feel like we're being punk'd. Is Ashton Kutcher in NK?
NBC News NK threatens to use nuclear weapons.

Slight contrast, eh?

Another one that gave me the "I think I'm living in an alternative universe" feeling:

Dick Cheney on NK: "We're in deep doo doo."

So, I never in my life imagined Cheney saying that "we're in deep doo doo" EVER. Does not compute. As weird as it sounds, the madness of North Koreans waltzing in the street in our threat of nuclear war and Cheney saying "doo doo" in the same evening kind of--I don't know what it did but I think I may have had an aneurysm. Here I was thinking "this is really serious. this is our Cuban missile crisis." Then, NK waltzing and Cheney's doo doo. Pretty sure we've slipped into an alternative universe.

What if they aim it right at Fukushima?

Despite what some people think, the hard and cold answer is "not a lot". A nuclear initiation near Fukushima would, admittedly, make one of a mess, but you could say the same thing about a nuclear initiation anywhere near human habitation. There would be a cloud of radioactive debris (aka fallout) drifting over the Pacific, but it's probably going to be nowhere nearly as large as some of the fallout from the really big (megaton range) test the US conducted in the 50s. Bad news for anybody under said cloud, but far, far, far from the 'extinction level event' that some people expect.

What if someone "shoots it down"? Is it all-out everyone start shooting?

We all know NK can't "aim" worth a crock.

It would only be shot down (not sure why you put that in quotes...intercepting a ballistic missile was possible with 1960's era technology, it's certainly possible today), if its projected course indicated that it was going to hit something. If that were the case, I would expect a huge diplomatic fuss, and possibly (but not likely) a conventional strike on the launch facility.

If the missile is going to hit empty ocean in any case, there's no point in wasting an interceptor shooting it down.

If you consider North Korea a proxy; this kind of game can be quite useful to a hostile power.

This little threat from Un is exposing major gaps in missile defense of Japan and South Korea. It is also tying up US resources in an area of little importance, at a time when US military is facing cutbacks.

There is a purpose to every game; it just takes some effort to get to it.

Lol, its just for a test fire of their missile capability's.

They don't even know if this type of missile works yet, which is the reason for the test.

Boy, talk about jumping the gun here. I think many of you actually want them to fire off a nuke.

I am actually more worried about the possibility of what other countries will do or possibly cause, if it is just a test fire and you are right I wonder why our MSM hasn't told people to relax and they know about it.

they have. Britains have anyway

That actually was all the initial report said (I saw it)- It was a simple 1 line red banner, and that was all (at the time of the Ops posting)

I don't see the point of them launching a missile into the ocean. They ought to at least try to hit something with it.
