Interesting vids. Also interesting commentary underneath them where people were saying that everything in NK looked so old. Compared to what the USSR was like when I visited it in 1987, NK looks way more up to date than the USSR did for its time period where everything looked like a rather shabby version of "Leave it to Beaver".

A couple pics from my USSR trip to illustrate.
Shot is almost all Russians except for the guy in the jeans--he was with my tour group (only saw 3 Russians in blue jeans the entire trip--all black market): i.imgur.com...
And just about every car I saw looked like the one in this photo: i.imgur.com...

I am not trying to pick a fight with you but I am getting really sick and tired of seeing this. Anyone else with me?

NK has many underground installations, this is why we don't really know what they have. Is it possible to launch something from one of these underground complexes?

The most likely scenario....they have train tracks that connect many of these. Often, they have anti-aircraft defenses on these, so they can move them around, cover more area with less weapons. No reason to think they couldn't do this with a missile launcher either (Russia has them, the Chinese may have them as well, but I know less about them), but again, the threat is only a missile threat. So far, we have no evidence they can weaponize a nuclear warhead small enough to go in a missile.

I agree with you. Who knows what they could be hiding. Unless they really are hiding nothing at all and Kim Jong Un is trying to lure someone else to make a stand against them. See how far the international community will let NK push the limits before stepping in

This whole scenario reminds me of a little kid running amok at walmart...

How long is he going to run wild before someone either takes the toy away or gives him a good spanking?

If he gets to work everyone up like this, nothing would stop other small countries from taking such measures.

I care not a hoot if you are pro-Fatboy Kim and anti-american or not. Truth stands on its own with no fears or bias or any human weakness.

Your continued claimed that it was the military excercises that drove Fatboy to his presumed insane actions of today do not hold water. Its was NEVER military excercises that NK hates about US, but WHAT US will do if he ever launches an attack as his greedy power lusting grandpop kim did.

No matter if there was exercises or not, he and his regime WILL continue to hate US, for what we can do if the rule of international law is broken. So dont have to get your panties up in knots trying to justify Fatboy. There is NOTHING that can be use for justification for what he had done. This is said in realities and not upon biasness. The facts speak for themselves if you bothered to study the Korean conflict in depth.

China and Russia both have large armies and need not and do not believe in sharing their military strategies nor show the presumed weakness of needing other forces to support any action it needs, and thus they conduct no or limited joint trainning with others, NOT because they fear having joint excercises like US will scare the world. Heck! they may not even have that capability with their outdated and poorly equipped forces.

Recently, the China military conducted an awesome military excercise on retaking an island. This was done in a period of high tension in the South China Sea between them and asian neighbours. I am sure the asian neighbours do not see this excercise by China as having a boys vacation there, but did the asian nations screamed for nukes and threaten thermonuclear war with China? They didnt.

Russia too flexed its naval muscles over the Iranian and Syrian issue in the Persian gulf and Mediterranean recently. Did USA and NATO scream interference and intimidation? No they didn't.

NK with its million strong military stage strong and massive excercises recently, and just last year actually fired upon SK territory. Did SK scream that NK is gonna invade SK? They didn't.

MIlitary excercises are only normal activities conducted in defence for peace. Without defence or the training of it, there will be no peace, for we do not live in a perfect world. Animals such as Fatboy, Assad and the persian apostate Khameni still exists, thus those activities are necessary to be effective if any one of those animals decide to take it the big stage of our world with their inhuman agendas.

If you fear for the safety of your children over nukes, then all the more reason you must defend peace by preparing for war so that the innocent next generations can be spared. UN has categorically stated no more to nuke proliferation, and existing nuke nations will have to be more responsible over its use.

What Fatboy had done is to challenge the stauts quo - to proliferate nukes into our world, because if he gets to keep it, so too will many other nations want such 'ultimate' weapons. Accidents, misunderstandings and terrorism happens. If every nation has nukes, very soon, and often over petty matters, we mankind will cease to exist.

As mentioned, Fatboy Kim will not get to own nukes. Best he gets use to the idea, or he will spent the rest of his mortal remains 6ft underground.

They are UP then they are DOWN then they are UP and then DOWN again.

I dont think Fatboy Kim can keep it up
Send him some Viagra

Ok....

I recently read that North Korea is sitting on 6 Trillion Dollars worth of minerals
Now here is a interesting thought. I bet the US and other countries would love to get there hands on that
I think for once and in my 'opinion' greed could do some good. If there is 'regime change' in NK then those minirals are mined and the money then goes to the democratic goverment of Korea 'as in a one Korea' then the living conditions of the general person in North Korea would improve greatly.

I do not agree with conflict for natural resourses but in this cercomstance I think it maybe benificial. That is just my opinion.

They're not just any minerals either. They're rare earth minerals and recently the numerous countries have been complaining about China's monopoly on rare earth minerals.

What I can't understand are the visits by Denis Rodman and Google officials. You'd think what with all of these anti-American stances, they'd not have visits from American superstar basketballers and business executives?

It really doesn't matter if people is Jokeing around the fact is no body will know when or if they will even launch the missile or not. Everybody just needs to take it slow and stop to thank what would really happen if they do decide to strike at us and if they can shoot it down in time before it does happen. All i'm trying to say is to any one and every body is we got to watch out for what is to expect to happen. And when it really does happen then there will be nothing anybody or any one can do about it. I just hope they decide not to strike and i hope and prey to god that they will catch it before id decides to hit us. If it does happen then the whole entire world will turn upside down and all things will be all sorts of crazy and people going nuts. And it got me just thinking and wondering to keep a look out in the sky in the day and in the nigth. This is so freaking real it's not even funny.
And i just hope they catch it and try to shoot it down .

Welcome to the forums, babygurl...I see you got your avy from your introduction thread. Nice.

I just wanted to let you know, I read your contribution, and understand how you feel.

But, what we are seeing here, is Political Grandstanding on N.Korea's part, over U.N. Sanctions put in place on N. Korea due to their refusing to adhere to U. N. guidelines on Nuclear Proliferation.

N. Korea has a long standing history of making vile threats, when they don't get their way. Much like a toddler throwing a tantrum, when you say no more candy. They think if they keep throwing bigger, and louder fits, we'll cave and give them more candy. Meaning lift the Sanctions placed on them.

You also have to realize, N.Korea doesn't possess the military technology, to the point of being able to really carry out those threats. You don't have to watch the sky in fear. That's not a healthy way to live.

I hope to see more of you in the forums....

Do you dispute that the United States IS the World's number one superpower? Do you dispute that the United States is having its way across the planet? And do you dispute that China is encroaching upon the power and influence of this superpower?

People just have very short memories and/or are to lazy.

I thought ATS was supposed to be about denying ignorance and yet people seem to think that NK is some sort of super China in disguise.

I mean, sure they have a million-man army. But do people actually think that their army is all armed. Due to all of these embargoes and whatnot, it's most likely one gun per every 3 or more soldier (just a bit better than the massive army of the Soviet Union where comrades had to follow the man with the gun and when he died, you picked up his gun and so on and so forth). NK basically relies on the "human wave" approach if attacking.

NK isn't some super state with lots of hidden tactics and weapons as people here are trying to make them out to be - however, it could well be if it stopped its wayward ways. Even better, a unification with SK would turn that place into an economic behemoth and SK is already the 12th largest economy in the world. Whilst the storyline of the Homefront game is fairly unrealistic in general, a unified Korea would be a force to reckon with in the world and the US would want such a massive and powerful state on side - and the Chinese would not like such a powerful state next door (that's right, a unified Korea would be massively important and massively strong and could easier rival China). This is why it's disappointing to see NK being so hostile to its brother state in the South.

Short memories or not. I blame the MSM, and the handlers behind them, for much of the hoopla happening on a daily basis. The more attention the Brat gets in the media, the louder he screams. He's like a narcissistic toddler. The more eyes turned on him. the more he has to ramp up his daily hissy fits.

If the MSM didn't feed him so much...he might get bored, and eventually lose interest .

Just one point of view on an overall picture....

Of course they are hungry. Else, why use sanctions as punishment. With approx. 90% of their food sources coming from other countries, you bet they are hurting.

Lil Brat Boy, doesn't give a crap about the starving masses. He wants his cake, and to eat it too. Hence, the stand-off we are in now.

This is where you and I differ absolute differ then. War and aggressive activities, from either side, do not bring peace. Open discussion as equals does and that has not occurred. Preparation for war? You're talking what would become World War III--the subject of my childhood nightmares.

The UN Security Council, btw, is comprised of 15 countries, 5 of which have nuclear weapons, are permanent members, and each of these 5 have the ability to veto any decision of the UN Security Council--US, China, France, Russia, UK. The other 10 countries alternate every 2 years. Three countries have nuclear weapons--India, Pakistan, and North Korea. All three have faced sanctions for developing nuclear weapons though Bush, very notably, waived sanctions on India and Pakistan (around the time where a lot of our jobs went to India, too). All five of the permanent members developed their nuclear weapons in the late 1940's and 50's with China being the last to develop them in 1964 and be a member. The NPT was signed in 1970. So basically you have the original 5 that developed this kind of weaponry calling all the shots. Three countries disagreed with those shots and got hit with sanctions. Pakistan and North Korea both still have sanctions on them.

Btw, NK didn't start developing nuclear weapons until after Bush went ahead and imposed additional energy sanctions on them because NK opened a nuclear power plant. NK actually agreed with the NPT until that moment due to non-compliance claims made by Bush.

So isnt it about time that we were kinder to nations that lack food and just get rid of their narccistic leaders. Or is that an ideal world.
