Hold on a minute! There is nothing in the bill about gun registration. Background checks (universal or other) do NOT equate to gun registration. Show me where it's written that there will be a registry of guns owned by an individual. The bill doesn't even require a background check for private sales, unless the seller paid to advertise it or used a website (i.e. Armslist.com, gunauction.com, etc.).
 How do they do the background checks? What do you think happens with the information collected in a background check? Can't you see that background checks are just a form of backdoor registration?

You are quite right, of course, riffraff, I don't know whether or not the lady in question owns the Glock of which you speak. Perhaps she will enlighten us.

And I don't know a Glock from a Gatling gun. And I'm very pleased to admit it. I go out of my house every day without having to consider whether someone might shoot me ...it would never cross my mind.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not anti American, it's just your obsession with firearms. You all seem very knowledgeable about guns, and the ones who seem to know the most are the most vitriolic towards my views,
Worrying, this tells me something about their temperament, and suitability for gun ownership.
.

Yes gun owners are very knowledgable about guns. It's part of the enormous responsibility that goes along with being a gun owner. And this vitriol you speak of tells you nothing about their suitability to own a gun. Let me ask you this. How much vitriol would an airline pilot have toward me when I start telling him the safest way to fly a plane? (Something I have no business talking about) does this mean he is unfit to fly because he wishes ignorant people would not speak on subjects of which they are ignorant ?
I think not. And yet you would judge who would have a gun and how they should store it, yet you proudly admit you dont know anything about them. If you don't understand why people don't want to hear your rubbish, you're just plain daft, mate. And if you think anyone wants to track you down and shoot you because you have an uninformed opinion I suggest you ponder your signature. This is about protecting our beautiful wives and daughters, not murdering smug cowards on the other side of the planet.

And you've come to this conclusion how? Since we already have background checks then, by your logic, we already have gun registration...right? Please educate me with facts about this theory of yours, I do enjoy fiction.

Thank you, riffraff, you've just demonstrated my point about vitriol admirably....

My sense of humour is apparently wasted on an American audience, too.

Have a good day.

Thank you for your kind words, riffraff. You see, it costs nothing to be polite.

You are correct. We already do have registration. This is why they so desperately want to make a background check mandatory for any transfer because there are so many guns out there, bought before background checkss, that are "off paper." Nobody in their right mind thinks that criminals are going to do background checks on the guns they sell each other. This has nothing to do with criminals and everything to do with getting records of every gun out there in law abiding hands.

The gun dealers are required to keep those 4473s for as long as they have a Federal Firearms License, and when they give up their license they are required to submit all those archived forms to the BATF. This gives the Feddies a great resource to start with when they decide that you can no longer be allowed to possess whatever gun they don't want you to own that month.

The government ahs these amazing things called "computers." These devices are useful for storing large amounts of information. Details of hte background checks can be stored in these amazing machines indefinately. (Sarcasm) The ATF has already been caught in Pennsylvania harvesting gun owner data and storing them after abckground checks. You honestly thing the government is going to follow the spirit of the law?

Not a Single Senator Has Been Provided the Legislative Text’ of Gun-Control Bill

So, how did you get to read the bill, if they didn't?
It would be for all transfers, that is the point they are trying to make.

Let us use Connecticut for a reference.
There is no rifle or pistol registration in CT, yet there is not one pistol in CT (that was bought here) that is not registered.

Now, with new laws almost every rifle and shotgun must be registered and every magazine, belt, or other feeding device that holds more than 10 rounds must be registered.

Now, there is no way to stop private transfers without registration (that's why here in CT you must register your mags and "assault weapons").

The universal background check (UBC) is nothing more than back door registration, and registration has always lead to confiscation. In fact one senator sent me an email while they were voting on the bill. Saying "this bill sucks" and "they already have a bill for confiscation next year". Now for obvious reasons I can't tell you who sent that email in confidence.

Background checks=Name
Address
How many you own.
What kind you Own.

IMO if this is hard for you to understand.
You don't need a gun.
Just bend over and let the Government take control.

BTW, note how for example in the Armenian massacre in Turkey the government proclaims that "since the COLLECTIVE society is endangered...they must ALL be eliminated"...

It is ALWAYS the same and by the same people, those who want to heavily restrict or even ban INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS for "the rights of the COLLECTIVE"...

This is what they did to the Christian minority, and other minority groups.

In Spain in the summer of 1936 the RED terror performed by socialists, liberals, communists, and leftists in general also did something similar, murdering from 38,000 to up to 72,340 people, including over 6,832 clergy, not to mention burning churches, etc, in two months because they were Christian/Catholic, or because they were capitalists, landowners, industrialists or/and politicians... Franco rose to power in Spain because of this massacre in Spain.

Then there is Hitler, Mussolini, Mao/China under every socialist/communist dictatorship, North Korea, Lenin, Stalin, the communist government of Burma/Myanmar, Vietnam and the Vietcong, the castro brothers, The FARC, and other "leftwing revolutionary movements" ALL which murdered even many of the people they claimed they would protect, etc, etc, etc...

Oh and btw, in case many of you didn't know, Saddam's Hussein's Iraqi Ba’ath Party was socialist as well, and they massacred minorities like the Kurds for the benefit of "the COLLECTIVE".

Believe it or no there are other Islamic nations that are also socialist and have done, or commit/committed the same, or similar atrocities Saddam's government did.

Not even 100 years ago...after the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River . Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships...all fighting the Germans. So, why did they not invade?

After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer...they knew that almost every home had guns and that Americans knew how to use them.

The world's largest army ...
The point?

America, for now is safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
*************************************************

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see the US disarmed and or ... controlled.

Food for thought when considering gun control.

People saying that gun registration will not result in confiscation ,how idiotic ,in 1996 after the shooting in Tasmania ,i saw people in Victoria lining up to hand in their semi auto rifles, shotguns and could not hand them in fast enough !!!!!!!!!!!!! many handed in bolt rifles, single shots etc ,after the massive guilt trip from the media ,most could not get rid of them fast enough ,to avoid the guilt and stigma that had been dumped on them , it went on and on and on on the radio ,tv ,papers .Many gave up shooting, hunting altogether .After that you would NEVER want to admit [to anyone] you owned any kind of gun ! They can just keep changing the laws ,and taking more and more, until there are none left ,if its registered there is no recourse, you hand it in ,or get locked up .What are people going to do ? hand it in ,ultimately one way or another they will take them all world wide !!!! and to those anti gun do gooders ,whats Plan B after all the guns are gone ???????? whats their plan for the useless eaters then ? starve us ? shoot us ? they want to reduce the worlds population ,with massive food shortages ,another war, preferably nuclear will get rid of alot us ,lots of new diseases ,bird flu s ,if your that dumb and gullible and think the Government really gives a damn about you and your puny pathetic voting ability ha ha ,you deserve it ,then you will complain ''why didnt someone do something to stop this ''TOO LATE

www.toomey.senate.gov...

The above link is to Senator Toomey's website with a summary of the proposed bill...and that's what this is...a proposed bill. I think this is the most relevent part:

"WHAT THE BILL WILL NOT DO:

The bill will not take away anyone's guns.

The bill will not ban any type of firearm.

The bill will not ban or restrict the use of any kind of bullet or any size clip or magazine.

The bill will not create a national registry; in fact, it specifically makes it illegal to establish any such registry.

The bill will not, in any way at all, infringe upon the Constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens."

Understand everyone's trepidations about this but I just don't see the facts backing up the extremes.

It's a true shame that ever public forum is infested with shills, Blatantly ignoring reason and logic. History and facts.
Bent in a malign pursuit to spread disinformation and insult. It really sickens me.
The morally absent spread of disinformation and confusion is surely a crime in heaven.

The fact is, that the government cannot be trusted. Every day they're actions provide more proof that the situation is only growing worse.
A government stockpiling mass weapons, ammunition and armored assault vehicles with no information other than they are for domestic use can not be trusted. Especially when that same government is declaring it's own citizens to be a terrorist threat simply for supporting the laws the government was founded on.
Anyone who can look at what the government is doing and not see that the most logical outcome is a planned assault on it's own people. While it is attempting to disarm those same people, not for crimes, but for security of the state. If you can look at all that and not think of the actions that have occurred so many times in history, when government slaughtered they're own people to secure a position of power.
Then you are either and extremely ignorant person of questionable parentage. Or simply a paid disinformation agent (which does not fully disinclude the previous statement).

Anyone with a fair intelligence can easily look at the current situation and discern that something is not right.
We are clearly following a very grim historical model.

So, You need to keep your guns, so your Government wont kill you.

Perhaps, by Keeping your guns, you are Giving your Government a Reason to kill you.

If my govt thinks that way, come at me bro.

We all see how house to house urban sniper warfare and booby-trap warfare works out for every govt force.
