Hello fellow writers.

As promised, the new contest will begin today.

As per the crowd sourcing of this thread we have compiled a few different themes to go along with our format.

The format will be Radio Drama/ Tele-play in the same style as H. G. Well's War Of The Worlds.

As this is not your typical writing contest, there will be a choice of themes. You may submit a story for each individually, or a create one that encompasses all of them.

The themes are the following:

1. World War 3. (Current event, or events leading up to or during.)

2. The World After Conflict. ( post apocalypse) * Although this doesn't have the be a world war scenario, but could be also a small regional conflict that leaves major changes in it's wake. This does not need to be man made either.

3. The World Of 2077. (For the sci-fi inclined)

4.The World Beyond Life (For the Metaphysics and Philosophy inclined)

As these themes are all somewhat interconnected, once could make use of time travel for example to write a bit about all of them.

Also, being in a radio drama format, the length of them is not determined by character count, but by actual reading count. The stories should be no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer than 10 minutes.

The following article can be used to get an example and some general guidance into writing radio dramas, but it's really not that complicated.

Pay special attention to scene detail and character information.

All submissions must be done no later than Wednesday May 9th 2013 at Midnight.

(Special consideration will be given to those who PM me if they are unable to follow the time frame due to unforeseen circumstances.)

All T&C's apply and the title MUST contain [RSWC].

Please also include which THEME you will be using, by placing it in bold at the top of your OP.

There will be 3 winners chosen based on stars and flags received. Each winner will receive writer status and 5 applauses each.

**Depending on how popular this contest becomes, the winning entry may be used in a Collaborative Writing project. If enough interest in generated and there is request for a 2nd contest of this nature, the 1st place winner will also choose the Theme for the next contest.**

Only individual entries will be counted, which means no part 2's or things of that nature. You may write and post them as a continuation of your story, but the contest will only count the first submission.

Please use this thread for Q&A as I will be closing the other shortly.

Well gang, this is YOUR contest, so get to writing and give our membership something to talk about!

~Tenth

Believe it or not, I have already started, hoping that the theme would remain. I should have my entry done in a day or so.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to expand and try something new!

Oh and anybody who is wondering, yes, Zombie Apocalypse CAN be a topic, which would fall into the WW3 or the World After Conflict theme.

Dang it! Getting it to the 5 minute mark is tougher than I thought!

That's the hardest part with these sorts of things. Remember that if it were actual produced and played, the scenery and scene set ups would be read as well, count that as part of your time, not just the dialogue.

Okay. Not sure the format is correct, the time is, however.

A Locked Door

Hope you all like it.

Tenth, if it is the wrong format or whatever, please delete and I'll redo.

So this is just one scene then Beezer?

If it is, than that's great, but you might want to add some added descriptions about the scene. The mood of the place ( is it dark and dreary, or light and sunny.), you want to invoke as much emotion in the scene as possible.

ETA: Here's how the BBC does them.

It's near dark, but I thought I'd let the dialogue set the scene. If it's poor, then I'll do another. It's late here, have to sleep soon. Just a first attempt is all.

I see the example now.

You might as well delete, I can try a rewrite tomorrow.

I'm working on the changes. (I saved it to Word) so I'll have it up soon. It's a new arena for me and I want to do it right.

On another note, I should have some more done on our other project soon as well. Sorry about the delay.

Very tough to do.

At least right now....but I got my feet wet in the style, yep.

My first entry this month.

"The day the world went crazy."

Very rough, but presented. Even though I read fast, I know that's not 5 minutes of radio time. That is the toughest challenge I see this month......

Words to fill space AND time. A true challenge. Honest. Try it.

Alright, here is my entry! I gave it a whirl, this is my first ever script style writing piece.

The Prepco Take over.

I'm still undecided on whether I actually like it or not. Let me know what you think.
