I think Guy Fawkes was amazing and I do not think his death shoud be celebrated.
People who celebrate the death dance of MT are the same sort of people who used to go to the weekly hanging etc .. probably their descendants,

Weren't you the one that was banging on about Nelson Mandela being a bomb planting terrorist?

If that wasn't you, I apologise.

ETA No, I was correct, it was you.

As you have not answered i will answer it for you.
Yes, Catholics do find the burning of a Guy Fawkes effigy offensive. However i have not heard "Mr Double Standards Cameron" say that Guy Fawkes night should no longer take place.

You are hilarious really

You think that catholics would be offended because I think the celebration of Guy Fawkes night IS INDEED offensive.

In fact I think one of the bravest catholics in English history is a hero and you think that is offensive to catholics because they were being persecuted.

Laughing out the door ... read some history please please and then we can continue this convo

let me explain - Guy Fawkes night is the celebration of him being HANGED DRAWN AND QUARTERED

I have just realised you did not realise that .. it is celebrating his murder by the govt of the day.

Why do you think they burn an effigy of a guy on the bonfire ????

Sorry I though you had a basic knowledge of history I see you do not,...

I knew that Jane , the first part in that post i made in response was sarcastic, parodying the hypocritical points of view seen by some here. I was in fact supporting your post.

that is right.
second

If that is how you think then you have a even more twisted mind then the people cheering about thatchers passing , even worse is the fact that you yourself do not even realize it.

well - that is what I think about people who celebrate the death of an elderly woman , yet to be buried, who was a Prime Minister and your cheering cousins - no respect, nasty, vindictive .. for starters.

As stated many times - the reason Britain is in the doldrums is precisely because of the large number of sick and twisted people who live here - as evidenced by their 'joy' at the passing of a woman. Disgraceful and we will never agree so i will not respond to you again.

No, britain is in "the doldrums" precisely because of people like thatcher who you stand up for , which is why people are not mourning her or even the opposite of that. They have their reasons and those reasons did not just fall out of the sky just "because".

Next time when for instance the leader of iran dies and residents of the U.S of A here on ATS shout "F* YEAH" i expect to see you on the front-line in these forums expressing your disgust ..kay!?
