Interesting story where they let a convicted hit man for the cartels go when he had 15 year sentence. So I guess the judge was in the pocket of the cartel to just let him go.

ast forward to 2013, when his release was ordered (before completing his 15 year sentence), the Baja California Attorney General office was notified and they sent a group of investigative agents to Tabasco. But apparently they weren’t the only ones interested in “El As”, he already had a “job” in Guadalajara. The agents in charge of re-apprehending “El As” believe someone tried to avoid it. When they arrived at Villahermosa, Tabasco, they noticed that an SUV with suspicious people was following them closely. The next day, when they had to visit the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center (Centro de Readaptación Social Federal) in which Felix Quintero was held, they noticed the SUV was still after them, they called the state commander who gave them a phone number which they could call if something happened. When they arrived at the prison, for security reasons one of the agents from Tijuana had to step down from the vehicle and walk toward the prison door, suddenly an armored truck caught his attention because it was backing towards the prison main door.

But it gets better when the prison guards pull guns on the federal agents who pull over the armored truck from a bank trying to smuggle the guy away from the prison.

“In just one minute the truck was on its way out and without stopping, so I went back and we followed it”, said the agent, who couldn´t find “El As” inside the prison. Fearing that Felix Quintero was inside the truck they insisted in following it but the driver didn´t stop, even though state police units were ordering him to do so. The agents called for reinforcements and managed to block the path of the armored truck, however, the driver insisted in not opening the vehicle. A convoy of federal agents arrived from inside the prison and the situation got tense because everyone cocked their weapons and pointed them at each other. After the agents called the number they were given, the state commander arrived and explained to the federal agents that everything was ok, therefore they needed to let the agents from Tijuana do their work. After this, the driver, who had previously refused he was carrying “El As”, opened the truck´s door and let them took Felix Quintero. According to the agent in charge, the driver told Javier Arellano´s former bodyguard “I just tell you that you are free, I don´t know whi they are and where they´ll take you. You already had a job in Guadalajara and there´s where I was going to take you”.

Corrupt guards, judges and even armored trucks from the bank to smuggle the guy.

Mexico has never been a friend of the United States...
Who did Mexico support in the Spanish-American War? Spain.
Who did Mexico support in World War I? The Axis.
Who did Mexico support in World War II? The Axis.
Who did Mexico support in The Cold War? The Soviet Bloc. Mexico had more Soviet Bloc intelligence personnel than anyplace outside Eastern Europe.

Mexico is not now, nor ever has been an friend or supporter of the US.

I attempted to post this previously and it was deleated. We'll see if it gets posted this time.

of course, gott make sure everyone retires from cia/fbi before they release it lol, same reason most of jfk is still sealed.

we dont actually want to get the bad guys (you know the agencies that set up fake agencies and fake terrorist cells so we can screw some small guy or a 18 orld kid) lol

how we gonna keep the drug racket up of bringing in illegal drugs, handing them to big dealers and busting all their little dealers and users so we can keep the prisons full? specially when they are trying to make the FOR PROFIT prisons. big money in food plans uniforms staff, eq, buildings , vehicles ect ect.

let alone the guns we keep selling back so they can come back over the boarder, and get a higher price for them because they are illegal to purchase over the counter (well if the gov gets its way)

Wow, so the Mexican gub'ment is taking a page from the US gub'ment's playbook: gotta keep things secret because of national security.

This case is particularly hilarious and telling because all the government is withholding is information on the cartels' number, names and areas of influence -- things that I would imagine all the drug cartels have full knowledge of. It is obvious that this is just to keep the citizenry ignorant, so that they can't connect the dots and see how the government is in cahoots with one or more cartels.

This is just like all the security with respect to Area 51 and such. No doubt Russia and China know a lot more about such US military installations than do most Americans. The information is not being kept secret because of national security interests but because of military-industrial complex interests.

So I guess that kind of tells you that the US is dealing in drugs from other countries.

Thinking about this diplomatic cable and it's time frame. This is probably the beginning of the Iran Contra drugs for guns program.that was busted in the Regan White House. So how many years did that go on and how many administrations did it?

No, it's not the beginning of the Iran-Contra drug deal; its about a decade early. But it is right in the midst of the known/documented CIA smuggling and selling of Heroin from the Golden Triangle to the US and other places. This information was made known during the Church hearings (a Democratic Senator from Idaho was the chairman, and he was knocked out in the next election by vast campaign funding to his Rethuglican opponent).

We could get rid of plant-derived drugs almost overnight. A selective pathogen (fungus, virus, bacteria) that only kills certain plant could be sprayed, carried by indigenous insects, put in the water, in fertilizers and could end the drug trade for a long time. BUT as we have found out, it is the money that matters most, the crime is a side-effect of keeping the drug trade illegal which is needed to keep it profitable.

So your answer to the drug problem is to seriously screw up the ecosystems where these plants grow by exterminating the offending plants? Yet ignore the fact that the cartels will just make newer drugs. You know what would be a better answer? Legalizing the plants. The very fact that something that grows naturally in the ground is illegal is absurd.

If the drugs were legal, then the cartels can't make the money that they do and their influence drops. Cut off the money flow and the problem goes away. But instead the government has gotten into an increasingly larger and more costly "war" on drugs where the enemy is funded by a profit margin that the government can never hope to compete against.

... Cut off the money flow and the problem goes away. But instead the government has gotten into an increasingly larger and more costly "war" on drugs where the enemy is funded by a profit margin that the government can never hope to compete against.

(Bold emphasis added)

You make it sound as though "the government" has fallen victim to its own altruistic efforts to protect its citizens from an "enemy" that markets in the world's most insidious and naturally-occuring scourge, which may arguably be considered the single most useful and beneficial plant known to mankind. Understanding and identifying who and what "the enemy" is would be essential to possibly ever eliminating the increasing societal problems associated with this growing horrific and world-emcompassing scam - though some very rich people and powerful factions will use whatever might to keep things just as they are. The War on Drugs is all about controlling a multi-zillion dollar illicit, unregulated, and undocumented trade and who gets to profit from it while ensuring everyone pays to play.

Since at least the time of the British opium trade with China there have been huge off-the-books trade empires built. This has not stopped to this day but has gone on to global proportions. The world's military machines now actively protect this black-market industry around the globe. The primary "threats" to this illicit empire come about when private individuals and organizations arise and grow prosperous and powerful as they begin dabbling in this trade, as have done various Latin-American and other "cartel" groups. Efforts to put down these upstart groups serve also to create violence and unrest in the streets which create further opportunity for Drug War promoters to profit in other ways as in putting more security and law enforcement equipment and personnel into our communities and passing more invasive and intrusive laws that erode our personal privacies.

Stepping up the Drug War assault in Mexico brought street violence to new levels, added unprecedented use of military and federal troops to combat the groups, and campaigns to take out the "kingpins" which had the effect of splitting those cartels into internally warring factions to take charge and replace the fallen leader. This would have the effect of spilling violence onto the streets and eventually weakening those groups leaving them ripe for take-over by a voracious new cartel interest comprised of rogue police and special forces-trained soldiers to carry-out "Company" policy and pay their dues to the Drug War controllers to keep the illicit action going according to their desires and global interests. But the game is now changing as new government administrations have come into power that recognize the manipulation being worked by these global trade interests.

There is too much money and profits at stake to end this Drug War scam but the ground rules are being forced to change in order to stem the violence and runaway erosion of personal liberties. These governments are willing to keep up "the good fight" in order to receive aid and military equipment to keep the war going, but now more on their own terms - which really more in the better interest of the general populace. Enormous profits continue to be made by very highly-placed and untouchable people, the money continuing to be "laundered" by international banking interests, and the Drug War continuing to be funded by taxpayers. We continue to pay to keep our streets unsafe, our homes less private, and more laws and law enforcement to ensure our domestic tranquility.

Very well said and you are right, it is all a control scheme and far too many powerful people have their hands in the cookie jar and are working hard to keep their hands in it. I mean why else would these things continue to be illegal when all evidence points towards legalization? Even people's will towards them is starting to come around as state after state is legalizing or decriminalizing. Yet the government STILL won't change its stance and clings to old lies for keeping it illegal.

In the end, you just have to look where the money goes. Who benefits from keeping these things illegal? Certainly not the mainstream public. I believe your points pretty much spell out the culprits so I don't need to repeat them.
