While your correct we will try to avoid war mainly because millions of South Korean civilians would likely die in first opening hours of a war your incorrect in saying America wont fight. Ask Saddam and Osama what they think?

Wars happen when politicians fail to do their job.

We'll only go to war if the politicians screw things up.

I can't follow your rambling, except that what of what you say is nonsense.

With approx. 8000 nuclear warheads, it will hardly "easy" to "wipe out" the US or NATO for that matter, despite I don't even see one single reason why China or Russia would even have an interest with going to war with us.

WE do not "want" to go to war since we don't have an interest in fricking NK, we have an interest in the stability in the region and an interest/obligation to protect SK. Why? Because a fat, crazy man is across the border threatening them for decades already. This is why we are there.

And, in fact, we won't gain anything (ok, except getting rid of Kim) by invading NK, this is why IMHO it's best to let the Chinese handle this. If the Chinese are only HALFWAY sane they know its in their interest when Kim is gone and that area becomes stable again - and if the Chinese are halfway sane they know that the provocations are coming from NK, not from us.

I dont think in a million years that the Chinese, Russia AND the US (and NATO for that matter too) would risk anything for that stinking regime in NK and that entirely insignificant country it is right now with their couple of rusty missiles. I still think that Chinese and Russians have THAT many braincells left.

With Korea the North have Iran, Syria, China, Russia all ready and pulling at the leash to wipe America off the may, yes o yes they can and will if America ever forget who is boss in world affairs today.
How does America even think it can win any future wars? the European states have disbanded Army & Air Forces & Navy because they are bankrupt, USA call on them for help they will be lucky to get a few Mine Sweepers 50, years old,even the UK under Cameron has just 11 war ships, 3 working subs, our fighters have no more Air Bases for repairs as Cameron shut them down to build houses on fields.
Sorry NATO is rubbish, the whole of NATO would be crippled within 22 hours in war time, they know it, that is why the USA will now want to talk to China to get things off the boil. I have even heard that sales of clean pants & washing powders are up 90% at the White House just incase Russia says JUMP, Obama will say YES SIR, HOW HIGH SIR,,,,,,,

Well, I think you may want to do an informal poll among those in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan (North and South), Syria and Libya before being too hasty about saying the US simply talks with nothing to support it.

I'd also note, your numbers on Naval assets are totally irrelevant but knowing that and why may be something which wouldn't be well known to a British citizen. (I can't help but note you're Mini- would suggest you are not an American...with all that perspective on American motivations and abilities.. )

If Obama chose, the United States Navy is the largest in the world. No other nation or next few nations combined even come close. Ditto for the Air Force and Land forces. If it got THAT bad...? Nations would see the U.S. forces magically morph multiple times over from their standing force today and I don't mean men. Men are easy. Selective Service gives millions and millions of men who are just one letter away from enlistments by conscription. The registration was done long ago and required by federal law at age 18 for every man in the nation.

You might want to take a few moments and google the Mothball Fleets. Then, the Aircraft storage in Arizona, California, Nevada and more. After that...this takes a bit of work..but there MANY areas that have land forces also parked and sitting idle. Over 1.000 tanks (M1 Abrams) sitting north of Reno in various states of disrepair but with very repairable problems. They're making more while those sit because it's cheaper to keep making them than to idle the plants until the next major revision toward the end of the decade.

I.E... The U.S. is producing more of the most advanced tank in the world than it can find any use for ...just because it'd cost more to stop than to keep pumping them out. (The Army has actually demanded they *STOP* making more of them...they have too many, by far...but Congress is like a doritos commercial. Use all ya want, they'll make more)

That's the insane levels of "so much...we need to find something to DO with them all" the U.S. has reached.


THOUSANDS of Aircraft (a %...never capable of flight again...a %, far more carefully shut down and mothballed) include more B-52's, B-1s, the venerable F-14's (They didn't get scrapped..just parked and forgotten about) and just about everything else.


So the bottom line is, your argument just isn't very solid on the face of it..but to look a little deeper? It has no real basis at all. It WOULD take the US 6-9 months (as it did in 1941...but we don't have to make anything this time) to spin up and return to strengths not seen since the 80's ....but no more than that. okay, MAYBE a year if they find some of those hulls leaked the inert gases they are pumped full of to arrest rust and corrosion below decks and inside what has been parked.

The OP is either just trying to create a stir or lacks and sort of knowledge in military or geopolitical area. I would guess it is a mix of both.

Having read the op and what he stated that he is sure that there will be no Korean war, the main reasin is that the believes that the USA are scared of fighting wars that can not be won.

However, the op failed to take into account all of the wars and armed conflicts that the USA has participated in, nor has he taken into account, that we do honor our agreements and treaties with other countries. Nor does the Op take into account that politicians that are proven to have taken funding from known people that are on the black list, have lost elections, been removed from office and ultimately do not succeed for very long in politics.

The kind of rant that is seen and heard from, though the source is at best questionable, but from all accounts from history, it was the same kind of rhetoric used by a dictator who stated that the US would not go to war, and full belief in its allies that they would be victorious.

While the OP fails to see the bigger picture, ultimately, any armed conflict when it comes to North Korea, would be China, not Russia. The op does not see that China and Russia do not like each other, and this goes back to the early days when Mao was chairman of China and the old Soviet Union refused to recognize chairman Mao as a strong leader in communism, rather seeking to distance themselves from such. And ultimately, if there was an armed conflict on the Korean penisula, it would be lose/lose for China as it can not simply let the North lose, nor could it allow for NK to continue its provocation for an actual show down with the US.

Make no mistake, NK has always been at war, as there was no peace treaty, no formal declaration, just a cease fire and an unease stance between North and South Korea.

The Op also fails to understand that there is no diplomatic relations between the US and NK, so the US has to go through China, in an attempt to cool things off, they do not go or will go to North Korea or its regiem.

If North Korea decides to take action, and it is proven it threw the first punch, then it would be initially South Korea that would bear the brunt of the first attack, ultimately, being supported by the USA in a push north. If China gets involved, it would be cause it can not afford the mass number of refugeess fleeing into its country, nor could Russia afford such either. Ultimately only time will tell and diplomats, hopefully it is just simple rhetoric that is going on right now.

The US citizens are tired of war, we have been engaged for too long in Afganistan and Iraq, too many secrets and mistrust is there, but make no mistake, if NK fires off a missile and it hits a US military target or US soil, that could quickly change where the people raise up and demand that we go into North Korea and take action.

I sense a calm but is it the 'calm before the storm' as some say. The US will defend its own right they will not be the first to attack and that goes for south korea and any other allied country.

North Korea usually does this. I was speaking to a relative today who told me the heightened tensions of cold war back in the 80's/90's he said this is nothing to the build up to the cold war before it ended in 1991.

If there were a major threat then you would notice not just heightened military response from other countries in the world but it would also be a lot closer to home too.

Ensuring your prepared for any cataclysmic event to unfold there would be a lot of warning from the news. Back around the cold war he told me there was 'Protect & Survive' and the UKWMO in the UK and numerous Emergency Broadcast Tests and public information about how to build a shelter and so on.

Obviously this was when I was only a baby so I dont remember anything that went on back then but he was in his 20's during the cold war thus was in the british armed forces as explained.

Hello my American friends, yes friends, I have not got any problem with anyone in that great state, I have family and many relations who live there in South Carolina & N/Y & Denver so I am def NOT anti American okay?
What I badly put in my post was not what I was thinking about N/K or S/Korea, the point I am making (yes badly put) was that I feel the USA has a bigger venue that North Korea really. For a start how come the USA have not jumped up and down about North Korea before now? they have tested Nuclear bombs, nothing from USA right? but have I or have I not heard America saying the last few years that China is getting a worry? have I heard right that Russia, China, Iran have started some money group to get rid of the wests dom over money around the world markets?
So what I am saying is it CHINA that bothers America more than North Korea? is it China your gunning for? are you really taking all that hardware over just for Korea or a bigger venture?
If it's China your heading for then I think we ought to be worried, and maybe have more than one bathroom in each house just in case I'm right for a change.

China is not a threat. Not militarily neither is Russia. It would do them no good what so ever to goto war with us. What will China gain. I am sure if they asked nicely mr. Obumma would give them the office right next to his. China will not start a war with us, again not because of our military strength, you go to war to take a country for your own generally speaking. China will never own America be cause WE will not let them. The people. not the government. So that is why you need not be afraid, the day you see china red Aircraft flying over is the day us as Americans protect our home. Yeah yeah I know Red Dawn was a movie, but in all movies is a sliver of truth. We the people should not be scared of China, Russia, NK, Iran or anyone else for that matter. We are a strong, proud nation. Our people is what makes us strong.
