Or are we going with real conservative beliefs of sensible taxation/spending (ala Reagan)?

You're joking right?

Didn't ummm..........Reagan triple the national debt.

It kills me to see people on here praising Reagan when he is just like all the rest of the worthless politicians, it seems a lot on ATS either don't know their history or have extremely short memories, Which is no excuse, I was born in '89 and still have extensive knowledge on his failed presidency.

Compare Clinton and Reagans records, on paper Clinton was WAY more conservative.

Yeah, just like the Vox Populi in "Bioshock Infinite". Unless you have an actual idea on how to improve things that are better than how it was done before, all you're doing is exchanging one set of misfits for another.

Well first of all, libertarians, at least their presidential candidate, wants to do away with all borders. He is on record as saying that he wants no border with Mexico.

Thanks for bringing this up. There are several branches of "Libertarian". There is Green Libertarian and Socialist Libertarian (or Left-Libertarian), and in my view they might as well be in the Progressive Party, but perhaps they are less Statist than their Progressive cousins.

I too am for no borders as we are ALL Human beings on planet Earth..

borders were designed to lock people and to make them more controllable...

when you look at it from a higher point of view you see Planet Earth and US Humans....We are Free to travel anywhere...no rules, except for your own moral codes and cosmic laws

I'd rather just abandon the R party altogether and back a new political group that is actually conservative.

hhmm...I think all right-wing Christians should move to middle-eastern countries where they can live by their own "moral code" and "cosmic law"...a new beginning if you will. from what I've heard from muslims, islam is accepting of all religions, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Congrats man, wish we could see that all over NM; Curry, Roosevelt, De Baca. The votes are so split in NM and Texas (contrary to popular belief Texas has been getting more and more blue) that true conservative minded constitutionalists need to take charge in their counties. Old style establishment republican stances arent anywhere near as popular with the people as they may have been at one time.

People are generally motivated by one of two things to get into politics. One is to serve the public, the other more common reason is to play a game of getting rich and gaining power over others. No political party is immune to the latter. I think what those who are motivated by altruistic reasons need to do is, instead of trying to play the game, flip the game board over.

The majority of people who serve in politics never get rich. Many who do end up with millions were already rich before they ran.

It is about power, not money. Very few people in Congress, or the lower levels end up with million dollar speaking gigs once they retire and contrary to popular belief, politicians are not met in alleyways and given bags full of money.

The money comes from job opportunities or consulting positions promised after they retire and very few people in politics actually qualify for this. Only the top people are focused on by lobbyists. Your average congressman does not have a golden parachute waiting for him.

Well.....Unless you count that lifetime pension and lifetime premium health care package as a benefit for serving at least two years......

Ron Paul supports the gold standard and the naive view that if we leave other countries alone they won't bother us. There is not enough gold in all of America, including Fort Knox, to operate our modern economy. And if you think hostile dictatorships will just leave us alone, you must have missed out on Pearl Harbor and 9/11 somehow. Because of these views, I cannot support Ron Paul.

The events of 9-11-2001 were done by NATO, as a two cargo planes hit the twin towers and a missle hit the pentagon. There is plenty of corroborating evidence for people who can be bothered to find out on their own.

I doubt there is any real gold left in fort knox and yes the gold standard is not ideal. Nationalising the FED would be ideal.

Hostile dictatorships will leave us alone because we have plenty of nukes, aircraft carriers and stealth planes. I don't think we need to remind everyone every 5-10 years for them to get the message. They already have gotten the message.

Pearl Harbor was different.

Ron Paul was a traditional conservative that standed out from the NEO-CONS that hijacked the party that last 10-15 years.

You seem misinformed/disinformed from the msm friend. You are not alone!

Well, that is the right way to do it. Make sure what you are doing is actually good for the community though. If you give everyone what they want, their wants get outrageous in the future. Keep the taxes down in the area by working as a community on projects, that way everyone is involved in their community. Be self supportive.

I am not a big fan of statism myself, but unlike you I can probably tolerate it better since I have lived many years in europe with a mixed economy and government accountability. Big government is not always a curse, but in america it certainly is, because they are using statism to go after the little guys rather than big business and white collar crime.

Statism for a green economy would be ok as well. Not the IMF tax surcharge crap on petrol!

Then are you for the NAU? They promote no borders in the North American continent.

There have been territorial lines and disputes since time immemorial. Even the native American Indians fought over their tribal lands. It is naïve to think there will be a completely borderless world where everyone just goes wherever they want. You promote the same Utopian ideals that the Socialists promote, the difference is they know that what they propose will be the One World Govt where everyone is controlled by the Elites. Please don't be naïve. It will never be the way you desire it.

The Elites are Internationalists. They recognize no borders and no national sovereignty. Is that what you really want to support?

Also, speaking of it from your so-called "higher level" of thinking, even the most spiritual rulers in Atlantis and the distant past recognized there had to be leaders and rules. In the I Am books, they talk about the Sahara Desert and the highly spiritual ruler there. Perhaps this is what you have a distant memory of, but be realistic in today's world. But there is just not going to be a world where everyone just goes where they want and does what they want.

The Elites want to eliminate private property because they want to control it all. All the land, all the resources. Don't buy into the Socialist Utopian line.

Yep, the Socialists have already ruined Europe. Thanks but no thanks.

Nope Big Govt is always going to overrun it's boundaries. Yes there is something horribly wrong with Big Govt. It will always be a monster. Sometimes the monster will act nicey nice and sometimes it won't.

There is a disconnect here. You tolerate having the same people run every aspect of your life.

Neo-liberals and neo-conservatives are the problem as far as I can see. Not socialism. Europeans used to enjoy a high standard of living until the PIIGS nations went bankrupt all at once and caused the IMF bailout schemes that makes people suffer today. USA(capitalist) is heading down the same road so you would be foolish to rail against socialism. In europe we have the same neo-liberals and neo-conservatives running the show. Progressivism died about 2 decades ago when they privatised everything. There is hardely any public sector left.

Green or socialist statism is way different than democrat statism. I trust jill stein much more than I trust barrack obama for example. No one is perfect. I have a good third eye for judging evil intentions. I wasn't born with it, rather I developed it later on in life.

How can you have your version of organized socialism without the power of the almighty state?

I also would like to add that you can have your socialism, as long as it is voluntary and you do not force it on anybody that does not welcome it, including me. I'm not a fan of stealing.

This is an excellent idea, especially for smaller populated states/cities.. the only problem is the city i live in is filled with over half a million people, probably closer to the million by now.

There is nothing inherently wrong with conservatism. Don't know where you got the idea that it should die...?
