New spider discovered. It's "as big as your face"

A new species of venomous tarantula has been discovered on the island nation of Sri Lanka, and it's as big as your face. Named Poecilotheria rajaei, the giant spider measures 20 centimeters and packs a venomous punch capable of killing rodents, birds, and snakes.

So as not to freak out the arachnaphobes, I wont post a pic......... but here's a vid:

I saw a thread on the subject yesterday, but not the video. If this gets closed down could you take the video to that thread? Thanks.

The spider looks very nice on the video, a soft gray color, meandering along on a stroll, just like a family dog.

Man, I hate spiders and scorpions and snakes but most of all I hate bees, thats one of my only true phobias

saw this last night

very cool discovery. in this months national geographic they estimate 500,000 species of spider are yet to be discovered (100,000 known)

wonder if there is a super species out there that can jump and has precognition

The only thing I'm really terrified of is Obi-Wan from the Star Wars movies.

I have Obi-Wan Kenobi phobia!

It looks to be as large as some family dogs too lol. My girlfriend would freak if she saw that thing lol she is terrified of spiders

Waste of money & time, imo.

On the vid:
it would be nice to have some reference as to the size of that beast.
Personally, I think it's lovely! Just look at the smooth way that it moves, every step carefully calculated...
