Obama Guilty of Selling Out America

Obama has just selected a Goldman Sachs executive to be the US Ambassador for Canada. Although this isn't official yet, since it needs voted on by congress. This just reeks of political back scratching and selling out to me. So where is this president that is supposed to be, "for the people"? Us common folks that is...

Obamas choice for the position of Canadian Ambassador is Bruce Heyman. Bruce is a partner at the investment firm of Goldman Sachs in Chicago. He is also a high level fundraiser for Barack Obama. Heyman and his wife Vicki, also a fundraiser, raised more than $1 million for Obama and were on his national finance committee.

Penny Pritzker, another powerful Chicago fundraiser for Obama is now his likely nominee for the Commerce Department. She is also the woman responsible for doing the fundraising for Obamas post presidential, $35 million beachfront estate on the island of Oahu. Penny herself may pay for as much as half of that! I must say, that is a hefty price to pay for a government position. But I suppose that is the least Obama could do for a friend. Wink wink... I really can't find a lot about this home. But still Penny is a fundraiser for Obama. Scratch scratch....

While reading this older article with a bit of history on Penny, I found this other juicy tidbit worthy of mentioning. It appears that Obama was rubbing elbows with a convicted felon to benefit himself. So I must ask, what won't Obama do?

You might not realize this, but this is actually not the first time someone in Chicago has helped the Obamas buy a house beyond their financial reach: convicted felon and Chicago machine political “fixer” Tony Rezko helped the Obamas assemble the funding for the home they currently own in Chicago’s murder and robbery-prone neighborhood known as Hyde Park. Penny Pritzker is making aggressive use of the recent headlines about gunshots being fired and people killed just two blocks or so away from the Obamas’ Hyde Park home, with Pritzker saying, “You don’t want them moving back where there’s gunfire, do you? DO YOU?”.

I'm not sure where the suprise (if any) is coming from . . . the number of gov officials that either came from Goldman-Sachs and Monsanto (or were given positions there after their terms) is staggering.

Obama? This is how Ambassadors have chosen since the start. It has always been common practice for Presidents make friends and donors Ambassadors. Of course this kills two birds with one stone, friends and donors are rewarded and the President gets a representative that he knows and trust. While you will find some true diplomats in more sensative positions, most of the time the postion is simply ceremonial. Go to party, pass on a message from our gov to theirs and vice versa, speak before local groups, etc. Honestly where have you people been for the last 200 years of American history?

Well, a Goldman Sachs exec was not exactly a good choice. Obama touts hiself as being for the average folks and throws this in our faces? I mean come on.... What about Joe the plumber, last I heard he was in need of a job.

And like Mr Spad touched on with the Ambassador thing, Obama is not the first pres to put Corporate and Wallstreet people in powerful positions in our government. But he needs to be the last. Hopefully they don't destroy us in the next four so we have a chance to fix things.

Of course there are alot of Goldman Sachs employees on Obama's payroll. They were, after all, one of his top campaign donors. $995,000.


Sorry, OP. I am merely repeating what you just said. But the point is that they always make backroom deals. Money pays, you know. It's sad because there's no accountability for what happened at Wall Street.
