I sobbed hysterically and soiled myself.

Then I turned on the computer and saw that ATS was down.

Things went downhill from there.

What did I do? I went to the Burger King in my area and purchased some good mood food. A turkey burger. Dear god it was the bomb. A small whopper meal that was on sell, and my mama got her a breakfast sandwich. I love TURKEY BURGERS!!! The warm bun, the crisp lettuce and pickles, the sweet tomatoes, with the tangy sauce, oh I cannot forget about the onions! All topped off with a fresh grilled turkey patty. Yeah food porn!

Well, just about the time I was considering making a new thread in the Political Madness forum, I couldn't connect. After a dozen more attempts, I figured it was a DOS problem. I gave up trying and went shopping with SO. Upon returning home several hours later, I sent SO to Burger King for a quick dinner.

Unlike Phoenix267's experience, I wish we'd just popped some pre-cooked Angus burgers in the microwave! The onions on the Whopper Jr.'s left a terrible aftertaste in my mouth (and I LOVE onions!), as did the fries. Don't know what oil they're using, but I think I'm through with Burger King. Next time it'll be Jack in the Box.......or the freezer.

Anyway, I'm glad ATS is back up and running!

I never use the microwave to cook my food. I always use the stove or oven. Microwaving fast food is a sin. Just kidding. I do love the sourdough chicken sandwich from Jack in the Box. Dear God it is so good. Maybe I'll buy both a turkey burger and a sourdough chicken sandwich. YES!!!

I have just been doing something dangerous......thinking!

But seriously.....It was lovely and amazing to see and read peoples comments, in my case over on IIDRN. How everybody got on and chatted away with each other in almost a more relaxed way than we 'formally' tend to do here on ATS.
Anyhooo, this got me thinking. Over here in the UK I arranged what transpired to be 3 'meet ups' on another forum. We met up in my area, Manchester'ish, and people came from as far away as Scotland and the south coast. We all went away with ideas of what we could do to 'fight the system' with their own game. Like making sure we don't leave more than the bills in bank accounts, guerilla gardening, and even setting up meditation classes. Some even went away with the confidence to set up their own meet ups in their own area.

Now....here's the thought...what would happen if the WHOLE internet and other forms of communication went down? What if the SHTF really kicks off? It's all very well sitting here and coming up with what we would do as individuals, but the latest DDOS attack has just shown that we are good people here and perhaps we should get to know people from our area who are here on ATS. There are not many Brits on here, and I did try arranging a meet up to no avail.

The key word here is unity. We all found our own ways to continue communication whilst ATS was down....but what if? Wouldn't it just be good to get away from our facebooks, twitters, yes and even ATS, for a few hours or a couple of days to LEARN by experience? Network with people who know how to survive in the woods and go for a weekend wild camping? Get together with somebody who can show you how to preserve food, fix a car, sew, meditate.....there's a wealth of talent here on ATS and its a crying shame that it is not used to its full potential. United we stand, divided we fall.

Never waste a good crisis....we have had a taste of it....now what are we going to do about it?

Just thinking.......

I spent the day pretending to be a wasp. By randomly running into windows, attacking peoples ice creams, and avoiding being swatted by newspapers.

The Day That the ATSSHTF:

Upon realizing that my beloved ATS was down, I quickly found everyone at IIDRN. I liked it there, but, it was hard to chat with all of the lost and suffering souls there. Some were obsessively clicking refresh, some were searching out proxies, some were adding layers of tinfoil to their hats, and some were so bad off, that they rocked back and forth in tears (I won't mention any names, but, the mascara? It was running.)

I then proceeded to bust out some cookies and began to lure people to the dark side.

'Its okay, guys, you can come out now. Have a cookie.'

Before anyone knew what happened, people started revealing their usernames. As it turns out, these were all actual, for real people. I know, I know.. it was a shocking revelation.

ATS Downtime was eventually created and in no time at all, there were 80 of us there. Lost, wandering, freaking out about the timing of ATS going down coupled with North Korean threats. I have never seen so much tinfoil in my life.

Everyone kept asking if Bernard was behind it. Some wondered if he finally had a full on Schnitzel attack. It was possible, but, never confirmed. No one had a source for it. We all decided that if there were no pics that it obviously didn't happen.

People were forced to go to actual news sites to get their news. I know, I know... I was shocked too. Most of them had no idea that these sites could be accessed without first being posted in a thread. They were terrified by the direct exposure, hence all the extra foil.

Then, magically, ATS came back online. Everyone suddenly started running towards it. And, some didn't make it. We lost some good men out there, women too. *sniffle*

It was all really quite traumatic.

Or people are joking and having a whole lot of fun with it.

I'll let you decide.

Yeah, yeah.......I know nuking food ain't good for ya', but when a hypoglycemic attack is coming on, I'd rather zap my woes with microwaved food than a dose of Excedrin! We were buying 1/3-lb frozen beef burgers and turkey burgers, but they take a long time to cook on the stove top! Having just discovered the pre-cooked Angus burgers, I gotta tell ya'.....they're fantastic! I don't think anything but a microwave will do them any justice.

Jack in the Box is still a novelty for me. I haven't ventured beyond the Deluxe Jack with cheese; at $1.99 I just can't get past their yummyness. I always loved Hardee's sourdough burgers, so maybe it's time to try something new.

I remember having microwave sandwiches before. They're always tasty and huge! It's funny that you say Hardee's. Where I come from we call it Carl's Jr.
