6500 Troop's tour of duty extended

In all of the election hype, did this item slip by?


I searched for it and could not find any discussion of it on ATS.

The US Defense Department has said that 6,500 US troops have had their tours of duty in Iraq extended by two months.

What long term damage will these continuous extensions do to our armed forces?

It is not something that is widely talked about, but I remember reading once about just how bad the discipline had gotten on the Army bases in Europe in the 70�s. It took years to recover from the damage done in Vietnam. How long will it take this time?
