The states and the cops will say and do anything they can get away with until the SCOTUS slaps them back. The cannot walk a drug dog around someone's house either...that was also overturned.

That said, it is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong, so even if these cases exist and are as you claim, anyone standing their ground should do so very carefully...
