It gets really old to see so many political posts on threads that aren't about politics.

I mostly avoid reading political posts. Everyone gets very riled up and then there's all kinds of flaming, insults, etc.

I'm pretty quiet on here, mostly lurk, enjoy reading the many varied posts.

But lately it seems that all there is are posts calling the President of the United States all kinds of vile names and saying he isn't a citizen, etc.

Whenever someone who's not a right wing conservative posts a reply, they get flamed. Yet a right wing conservative can post all kinds of bs that isn't the least bit based on facts and truth, and they get lauded and treated like royalty.

Yeah, you guessed it, I'm a liberal. I'm not ashamed of it either.

I get really tired of seeing all this right wing political bs everywhere, not just political threads.

I feel the mods do a fabulous job on this site. Since I don't have a solution to this problem, I'm ranting.

We all have the right to rant about stuff. I just wish there would be a little more civility when it comes to politics. Yeah, I know, not gonna happen.

Are you whining because people are talking bad about Obama?

I would bitch about Bush, but he isn't the President now is he?

Why are you here then?

I hate both parties, they are nothing more than two wings on the same bird!!!

But hey! If it makes you feel better belonging to a team, have at it!

Thanks, Seeker. I've been thinking of writing my own rant bashing people for normalcy bias--but I've held my tongue so far. It makes you wonder why some people hang around conspiracy sites....

Ya know, why is it that we can see it and others can't? How long can the blame game of R versus D go on? Haven't they all had enough turns to do the right thing for us?

I am sick of the partisan arguments, when God knows they are all guilty of screwing over those whom they were elected to serve!

Hell, I have Netflix, and I hardly watch any comedy shows, just because I can come on ATS and watch the partisan idiots blame each other for all of our problems!

Yep, I don't ever remember seeing people bitch about Bush like this. I was no fan of Bush, but I felt it would have been rude to say nasty things about him. Yeah, I criticized some of the decisions he made, but I never would have resorted to calling him names and that.

I think people are generally getting less civilized.

Seriously. Today I went looking for news on HR 933, the "Monsanto Protection Act," to see how many MSM news sites had even mentioned it in passing. Answer: ZERO.

Normalcy bias is a powerful thing. My roommate is one of those people who are absolutely insanely in love with Obama. Won't hear a bad word about him. Every damn speech he makes, I can hear her downstairs whooping and cheering for the bastard. I pointed out the link below to her one time. She read a few sentences, and said: "SO?"

You can't beat 'em....

www.freerepublic.com...

A Psychologist Talks About Normalcy Bias and Situational Awareness (Why Don't People Prep?)

Years ago when I was in junior high school, I had a shop teacher who would occasionally get exasperated with one of us and ask the question, "What makes a man be that way?" It’s a question I find myself asking many times...

Normalcy bias is the idea that people believe nothing bad will happen because it hasn’t happened before. It’s also known as analysis paralysis, incredulity response or the ostrich effect. Of course, that last one refers to someone behaving like an ostrich who puts its head in the sand.
